Alexandra Gerasimya biography. Swimmer Aleksandra Gerasimenya: “It is wrong if the birth of a child crosses out the dreams and plans of a woman. What character traits would you like to develop in yourself?

Athletes are people too: they think of quitting sports and answering their mother's questions: "When will you get married?" The “goldfish” Alexandra Gerasimmenya spoke about the difficulties in her sports and personal life, as well as overcoming them, for the joint project of Hennessy Very Special and Bolshoy magazine “A Hero of Our Time”.

- How do you feel about being called a "goldfish"?

I take it easy. Moreover, this nickname is already more than ten years old. Once I won three gold medals at the European Youth Championships, and one of the journalists called me “goldfish”. Since then, it has been.

- What was the most difficult moment in your sports career?

It would be wrong to single out one moment. At each stage, new obstacles appeared that had to be overcome. When I first started swimming, I was one of the laggards. And I even decided that swimming is not mine, I need to finish it. I didn’t leave only because of the team: the guys I studied with and the coaches. From a lagging behind, she turned into a leader and held the championship in the future. The next difficult moment came when I was disqualified for two years. You understand, when you train only for the sake of training, somehow it doesn’t work out too well. It's very hard to practice when you don't have a goal. But she was not, because I could not compete. Initially, it was about disqualification for four years. It was hard psychologically, plus there were health problems.

- During the disqualification, did you have thoughts of quitting swimming and doing something else?

Of course, more than once. But, again, you understand that you just started your career in swimming and you can’t stop right away ... There was a desire to prove that I can achieve results. Even if some people don't want it. Oddly enough, negative motivation - when you prove, get angry - is much stronger than just the desire to fulfill the category standard or win first place.

You said that you could end your career after the World Championships in Kazan. What event or thought made you continue?

Probably anger at the situation and an understanding of what I want and, most importantly, I can achieve Olympic gold. Moreover, there were six months left before the Olympics in Rio, and I would never have forgiven myself if I had not tried.

- Maybe you have some kind of personal installation? What do you say to yourself when you feel bad.

I will say this: one thing never works. If you managed to persuade yourself once, it’s not a fact that it will come out again. We constantly need to look for new ways and methods, come up with inspiring ideas. Sometimes I scolded myself. Sometimes I persuaded. Such elementary, absurd, absolutely simple things that were not supposed to give a result - but they did. Although a psychologist works with us, it is much easier for athletes in this regard.

Never stop, never give up. Difficulties build character, make you better.

- You are an example of a strong, successful girl who goes to her goal. And who do you look up to?

I am a person who does not create an idol for himself. I never tried to imitate anyone. But I try to see in others those qualities that I myself would like to acquire. There are many such people. When I accidentally cross paths and work with them, I always admire. No wonder they say that we meet people for a reason. Life gives us the opportunity to learn something from them. I believe this is correct. Even a person who did not treat you very well is also needed for something in life. Difficulties build character, make you better.

What character traits would you like to develop in yourself?

I understand that I am not perfect: I have a lot of both positive and negative traits. I would like to cultivate patience and self-control in myself. It would seem that at my level in swimming, an athlete must possess such qualities. I agree, but again, professionally, you can feel calm, but in life you treat everyday issues in a completely different way.

I have a question that is relevant for a beautiful young woman who devotes almost all her time to her career: sports or business. How about with family?

Important question. I would not say that combining family and career is a problem. But I think it is very important that the companion supports your endeavors. We have a stereotype: a woman must definitely clean, wash, cook, go to the store, raise a child. But when dad also turns on, then both parents will be able to do everything both in the family and in their careers. The main thing is to act as a team. Many women find themselves in motherhood. I don't think this is good or bad. This is their desire. Then a woman brings up children, looks after the house - and feels great. But there are those who see themselves not only in motherhood, who need personal growth and realization in their profession. Everyone has their own requirements, right? A person, whether a man or a woman, feels uncomfortable if the birth of a child crosses out the dreams and plans that he had. It shouldn't be like this, it's wrong. You need to find a balance between career and family.

Are your relatives trying to influence you? Do not talk about the time to quit sports and motherhood?

I am a hard person to influence. Everything has its time. I don't give up on motherhood. Of course, I understand that my parents want to become grandparents, try themselves in a new role. But this is my family, right? I am glad that close people are worried and worried about me, but I myself decide what to do next. Of course, I had a conversation about the family with my mother - this is my mother! But there was no such thing as “enough to sit in the girls!”. Moreover, I am constantly busy, I do not have time to “sit”.

- Where do you see yourself in ten years? Are you an athlete or a mother, do you live in Belarus or abroad?

Ten years is such a short time! During this time, nothing fundamentally can change. Of course, I see myself as a family man, with children. Will I still be swimming in ten years? Keep yourself in shape, take part in local competitions - yes. And to do my other favorite thing, which is connected with swimming.

- What do you expect from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics?

I have the highest expectations!

Alexandra Gerasimenya: Never give up

Alexandra Herasimenia is one of the best Belarusian sportswomen. The swimmer plans to conquer the 2012 Olympics in London. However, at 24, Sasha understands that an athlete's career is short-lived. She told the site what kind of education she wants to get, how she sees her husband and her home.

We are sitting in her new apartment - where so far there are only walls, a bed and a refrigerator. From the double-glazed windows not brought to mind by the builders, the cold February air reaches us without visible effort. “Of course, it's a mess, but on the other hand, it's always fresh,” Alexandra smiles, without losing her sense of humor in any situation. She accepts all the changes in her life only in a positive way. And like every exemplary housewife, she already knows what curtains she will hang in her room, and what color the sofa will be in the hall.

However, her today's apartment is just a training - before building a house in which she would like to live her whole life, surrounded by a loving husband and children. And Sasha will definitely have a house, perhaps as a reward for winning the 2012 Olympics in London, for which she is already preparing with tension today.

Get everything done in 10-15 years

- It seems that the fate of Alexandra Gerasimenya was a foregone conclusion, because her father was once a member of the USSR athletics team ...

Dad really taught me to physical culture. From the age of four, I did exercises every day and ran crosses with him. For which, by the way, I am still grateful to him. And I got into swimming thanks to a friend - I went to sign up with him for the company in the section, and so I stayed there. In general, as a child, I was mostly friends with boys, because girls at this age are kind of envious and love to do all sorts of nasty things. For some reason, they did not understand that climbing trees and playing football is really cool.

- In my opinion, this is a good motor alternative to dolls and a sandbox...

I would recommend everyone to go in for sports since childhood - in particular swimming. A young man, and especially a girl, needs good posture and a beautiful build. Sometimes you see young people who have simply ugly, well-fed forms, and you just wonder how people don’t love themselves. Or another extreme - complete atrophy of the muscles, covered by the fact that, they say, the main thing in a person is the brain. I stick to Chekhov - everything should be fine in a person :)

- Great sport does not add health to a person.

Any occupation of a person in which he wants to achieve super results, applying super efforts to this, will not benefit the body in any way. A journalist who gets materials for his work during the day, and then spoils his eyesight at the computer at night, is probably not the healthiest person either. It's just that athletes are always in sight and, moreover, live a shorter life - we need to do everything in 10-15 years of a sports career. Here we are in a hurry...

To training - with positive thoughts

- What is the most difficult part of your job?

The work itself. It is monotonous and heavy. The first practice starts at 8 am. Cold nasty water in the pool. The second workout, which also needs to be plowed - but after a busy day spent in school, business and troubles.

- Happiness is not enough. Especially considering the fact that the water is also chlorinated...

Yes, we have got used to it for so many years... But on the other hand, can you imagine how nice it is to plunge into the pool on a hot summer day? So everything balances out. In fact, water creates a mood - if it is good, then you will swim quickly. The bad thing is that you suffer in such a way that you won’t wish it on your enemy ... Therefore, I try to come to training with positive thoughts.

“In the final, I achieved a new world achievement, but it was too late - the rivals swam even faster. Much rested on swimsuits, of which some had a lot, while others had one at a time. Therefore, we had to save, take risks at intermediate stages and go out in old equipment. The fact is that polyurethane suits are suitable for no more than three starts.”

- Belarus, unfortunately, is not the strongest swimming power in Europe - isn't it tempting to move to a place where the ceiling of your possibilities will initially be much higher?

First, I feel that I have not yet reached my ceiling - my results continue to improve. Secondly, you can go to study in the USA or Australia and swim there with a large herd under the guidance of university coaches, but this is not my way. I like to work individually and intelligently, under the guidance of good coaches. Believe me, when I feel that there is a stagnation in the results, then perhaps I will have the will to change everything and leave to train in another country with a foreign specialist.

Firefighters - do not offer your hand and heart

- Isn't it to France? They say that the guys there are very fond of marrying our leading swimmers, and then they change their Belarusian citizenship. By the way, the press wrote about your novel. I think with some French fireman...

It was business. Only this material was dated April 1 and pretty amused the sports community. The journalist drew a parallel with the departed brides, and this was enough to alarm the entire Ministry of Sports. I just laughed when I read this article. I was a little offended by the author only because of one point. I wanted my potential fiancé to be some crown prince of blue blood :). And then the fireman is a small bird, we and our own are a dime a dozen here ...

- Is the lack of a sense of humor a weakness of domestic officials?

This is the weak side of any man. Anyway, for me. There is nothing more boring than a young man who evaluates everything with a serious look and does not know how to joke, especially at himself.

After all, if you figure it out like this, then life is a game, the rules in which are established by a coach unknown to us. Only he decides when to let you out on the field, when to replace ... Is it possible to relate to the fact of your existence on earth without irony?

And I categorically do not accept in men such a quality as rudeness. As a rule, they hide their complexes behind rudeness and swagger. I have them too, but it would never occur to me to test the nervous system of another person because of this. Fight with them inside yourself, get rid of them, but for others you must be a broad and hospitable person. In any case, I flatter myself with the hope that this is exactly what I am for those around me.

- Alexandra Gerasimenya today is a tidbit for all kinds of gigolos, who at all times subtly felt the possibilities of successful beautiful athletes ...

Well, I can sort this out somehow. Although ... In life, you never have to renounce anything. In general, I don’t really understand what patterns human destinies are built on and why everyone is rewarded differently. But this is again a question for the head coach :)

In 2012 - only "gold"!

- After all, you can go to a fortuneteller, feel out your future ...

Maybe someday I will. Not even to find out what awaits me, but only to destroy the predicted circumstances, if they seem disappointing to me. It is foolish to listen to your verdict and then suffer all your life, thinking that nothing can be changed. A person is born to fight, and should not give up under any circumstances!

- That is, if you are awarded “bronze” at the 2012 Olympics, which in itself is an extraordinary phenomenon for Belarusian swimming, then ...

Only "gold"! I once had a dream that I ... But no, I won’t tell, although my dreams usually come true. In my opinion, it makes no sense to work all your conscious life, deny yourself a lot and not strive to become the best at the same time.

- Are you not upset by the fact that many Olympic champions, after the end of their sports career, as a rule, are not realized in their post-sports life?

I'm not going to be famous all my life. The laurels of a man who glorified his country on waterways will quite suit me. And then ... I get a second - economic education and, perhaps, I will choose a fundamentally different path after sports. Life is not in vain if you turn out to be the right people

- How much do you earn now?

The amount depends on the number of competitions won, but on average, somewhere around 7-8 million Belarusian rubles per month.

News of Belarus. The swimmer commented on the Belarusian athletes during the talk show.

There are no complaints against you regarding the Olympics - you brought a medal. But you, too, are part of the team, and for sure, you also partly accept such an assessment at your own expense. Fair assessment? Failure? Disgusting results?

Alexandra Gerasimmenya, Olympic medalist (Rio de Janeiro, 2016):
In fact, of course, I bring medals to the second Olympics, and the second Olympics is considered unsatisfactory. Of course, for me personally, this is a shame, because I consider my performance quite successful. Maybe not 100% as I wanted, of course. But I completed my minimum program. Yes, of course, it is possible that the guys could not reach a higher level in order to perform more successfully at the Olympics and at least break through to the semi-finals and finals. But, given that it was such a massive decline in results, I think it’s not even their mistake here. Because, after all, if there is a drop in the result precisely by the team - and they were preparing in the same places, at the same training camp - then, I think, there is already a question for the leadership, why this happened.

An excerpt characterizing Gerasimenya, Alexandra Viktorovna

- Well, bg "at, tepeg" let's go and dry ourselves, - he said to Petya.
Approaching the forest guardhouse, Denisov stopped, peering into the forest. A man in a jacket, bast shoes and a Kazan hat, with a gun over his shoulder and an ax in his belt, was walking through the forest, between the trees, with long, light steps on long legs, with long dangling arms. Seeing Denisov, this man hurriedly threw something into a bush and, taking off his wet hat with drooping brim, went up to the chief. It was Tikhon. Pitted with smallpox and wrinkles, his face with small narrow eyes shone with self-satisfied amusement. He raised his head high and, as if restraining himself from laughter, stared at Denisov.
“Well, where did pg fall?” Denisov said.
- Where had you been? I followed the French,” Tikhon answered boldly and hastily in a hoarse but melodious bass.
- Why did you climb during the day? Beast! Well, didn't you take it?
“I took it,” said Tikhon.
– Where is he?
“Yes, I took him first of all at dawn,” Tikhon continued, rearranging his flat, turned-out legs in bast shoes wider, “and led him into the forest. I see it's not good. I think, let me go, I’ll take another more carefully one.
“Look, rogue, it’s true,” Denisov said to the esaul. - Why didn’t you pg "ivel"?
“Yes, what’s the point of driving him,” Tikhon interrupted angrily and hastily, “not a busy one. Don't I know what you need?
- What a beast! .. Well? ..
“I went after another,” Tikhon continued, “I crawled into the forest in this manner, and I lay down. - Tikhon unexpectedly and flexibly lay down on his belly, imagining in his faces how he did it. “One and do it,” he continued. - I'll rob him like that. - Tikhon quickly, easily jumped up. - Let's go, I say, to the colonel. How to make a noise. And there are four of them. They rushed at me with skewers. I attacked them in such a manner with an ax: why are you, they say, Christ is with you, ”Tikhon cried out, waving his arms and frowning menacingly, exposing his chest.
“That’s what we saw from the mountain, how you asked the arrow through the puddles,” said the esaul, narrowing his shining eyes.
Petya really wanted to laugh, but he saw that everyone was holding back from laughing. He quickly turned his eyes from the face of Tikhon to the face of the esaul and Denisov, not understanding what all this meant.
“You can’t imagine arcs,” Denisov said, coughing angrily. “Why didn’t you bring peg?”
Tikhon began to scratch his back with one hand, his head with the other, and suddenly his whole face stretched into a radiant stupid smile, which revealed the lack of a tooth (for which he was nicknamed Shcherbaty). Denisov smiled, and Petya burst into merry laughter, to which Tikhon himself joined.
“Yes, quite wrong,” said Tikhon. - The clothes are poor on him, where to lead him then. Yes, and rude, your honor. Why, he says, I myself am the son of Anaral, I won’t go, he says.
- What a beast! Denisov said. - I need to ask...
“Yes, I asked him,” said Tikhon. - He says: I don't know you well. There are many of ours, he says, but all are bad; only, says, one name. Ahnete, he says, it’s good, you’ll take everyone, ”Tikhon concluded, looking cheerfully and resolutely into Denisov’s eyes.
“Here I’ll pour in a hundred gog” yachs, and you will be the arc “like a cog” chit, ”Denisov said sternly.
“But what’s to be angry about,” said Tikhon, “well, I didn’t see your French? Here, let it darken, I’ll give you whatever tab you want, at least I’ll bring three.
“Well, let’s go,” said Denisov, and he rode all the way to the guardhouse, frowning angrily and in silence.
Tikhon came in from behind, and Petya heard the Cossacks laughing with him and at him about some kind of boots that he had thrown into the bush.
When that laughter that had taken possession of him passed at Tikhon's words and smile, and Petya realized for a moment that this Tikhon had killed a man, he felt embarrassed. He looked back at the captive drummer, and something struck him in the heart. But this awkwardness lasted only for a moment. He felt the need to raise his head higher, cheer up and ask the esaul with a significant air about tomorrow's enterprise, so as not to be unworthy of the society in which he was.
The officer sent met Denisov on the road with the news that Dolokhov himself would arrive immediately and that everything was fine on his part.
Denisov suddenly cheered up and called Petya to him.
“Well, tell me about yourself,” he said.

On leaving Moscow, Petya, leaving his relatives, joined his regiment and soon after that was taken as an orderly to the general who commanded a large detachment. From the time he was promoted to officer, and especially from entering the active army, where he participated in the battle of Vyazemsky, Petya was in a constantly happily excited state of joy that he was big, and in a constantly enthusiastic haste not to miss any chance of real heroism. . He was very happy with what he saw and experienced in the army, but at the same time it seemed to him that where he was not there, the most real, heroic things were now happening. And he was in a hurry to catch up to where he was not.
When on October 21 his general expressed a desire to send someone to Denisov's detachment, Petya so pitifully asked to be sent that the general could not refuse. But, sending him, the general, remembering Petya's insane act in the battle of Vyazemsky, where Petya, instead of going by road to where he was sent, rode into the chain under the fire of the French and fired two shots from his pistol there - sending him, the general he specifically forbade Petya to participate in any of Denisov's actions. From this, Petya blushed and became confused when Denisov asked if he could stay. Before leaving for the edge of the forest, Petya thought that he must, strictly fulfilling his duty, immediately return. But when he saw the French, saw Tikhon, learned that they would certainly attack at night, he, with the speed of young people moving from one look to another, decided with himself that his general, whom he still respected very much, was rubbish, German, that Denisov is a hero, and the esaul is a hero, and that Tikhon is a hero, and that he would be ashamed to leave them in difficult times.
It was already getting dark when Denisov, Petya and the esaul drove up to the guardhouse. In the semi-darkness one could see horses in saddles, Cossacks, hussars, adjusting huts in a clearing and (so that the French would not see the smoke) making a reddening fire in a forest ravine. In the hallway of a small hut, a Cossack, rolling up his sleeves, was chopping lamb. In the hut itself there were three officers from Denisov's party, setting up a table out of the door. Petya took off his wet dress to dry and immediately began to assist the officers in setting up the dining table.
Ten minutes later, the table was ready, covered with a napkin. There was vodka on the table, rum in a flask, white bread and roast lamb with salt.
Sitting together with the officers at the table and tearing with his hands, over which the bacon flowed, fatty fragrant mutton, Petya was in an enthusiastic childish state of tender love for all people and, as a result, confidence in the same love of other people for himself.
