In Volgograd, the All-Russian track and field athletics competition "Elena Isinbayeva Cup" was completed, in which more than 450 young athletes took part. For two days, 15-16-year-old schoolchildren competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 110m s/b, 300m s/b, 4x100m relay, pole vault, long, high, triple jump and shot put.

At the personal invitation of the two-time Olympic champion, the President of the International Olympians Association, founder and president of the World and Sport Foundation, world champion and Olympic medalist in the modern pentathlon, adviser to Prince Albert II of Monaco, Joel Bouzou, visited the competition. Also at the competitions were present and participated in the awarding of winners and prize-winners famous Volgograd athletes - Olympic champions - Tatyana Lebedeva, Elena Slesarenko, Maxim Opalev and Larisa Ilchenko.

This year, the weather gave the athletes a real test: on the first day it was cold and rainy, on the second it became warmer and sunny, but in the midst of the tournament, a tropical downpour with hail hit the stadium, and the competition even had to be interrupted for a while. Despite this, the guys' eyes were “burning”, and they fought like adults on the track and in the sectors. All participants received memorable gifts from the Elena Isinbayeva Charitable Foundation, and the winners and prize-winners received prizes and certificates for a branded sportswear store. Elena Isinbayeva personally awarded all the victors with honored guests and invited the guys to take part in her tournament next year. At the end of each competition day, children could take pictures with Elena and other honored guests, as well as get their autograph.

Joel Buzu admitted in an interview with Rusathletics.com that he accepted Elena's invitation with pleasure and was very pleased with what he saw: “I have always been very interested in understanding how a great person can influence others and what he can give to society. And I am very pleased to see how Elena knows how to "give". I saw with what eyes the children look at her and other outstanding athletes from Volgograd. Their example inspires the guys to go in for sports and makes them be better. And I hope that despite all the accusations that have now fallen from the media against your athletes, Elena and other clean Russian athletes will be able to take part in the Rio Games. Naturally, I am in favor of punishing the guilty, but if an athlete has passed doping control throughout his career and has always been clean, then he should not suffer because of others. We must fight for clean sport. And I believe that clean athletes, no matter what country they live in, should take part in the Rio Olympics. Their rights must be protected and I, as President of the International Olympians Association, will do my best to do so.”

After the competition, two-time Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva admitted that she was satisfied with the tournament and thanked all the participants, guests of honor, sponsors and spectators.

Today, at the stadium of the Volgograd Academy of Physical Culture, competitions for the Cup of two-time Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva ended. Young athletes showed more than worthy results, setting 14 tournament records. Dreams Come True

The competition was held for the fourth time as part of the program “Our support is their victory! ". This time, in addition to representatives of the athletics school of the Volgograd region, athletes from the Arkhangelsk, Lipetsk, Yaroslavl, Astrakhan, Rostov, Saratov regions, the republics of Crimea and Tatarstan, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories came to the start.

The popularity of the competition is growing year by year. For the majority of young participants born in 2003-2004, these starts are, of course, the most significant in their sports career so far.

I am happy that I won today, - shared the winner in the men's 300 meters hurdles, Denis Novoseltsev from Salsk, - and most importantly - these are congratulations and a photo with Elena Isinbayeva. I have long dreamed of seeing and receiving a medal from her. I love her as an athlete and for the way she represented Russia in the international arena.

Denis is 14, has been involved in athletics for only two years, and success in Volgograd is not the first for him. Although the conditions in his hometown, in his words, are the most modest, but the guy has a good coach. Therefore, quite often, his teammates are invited here for the awards. Denis takes sports very seriously: “you can’t get such emotions anywhere as in athletics.”

The coach of the Youth Sports School from Dubovka closely followed the performances of his wards Alexey Bozhko. He brought eight guys who show themselves to be real all-rounders: 100 meters and 400, long jump, core, relay. On the first day of the competition, none of them managed to climb the podium, but the coach is quite satisfied with the performance of the students: everyone improved their personal achievements. By the way, one of the pupils of Alexei Bozhko - Igor Korneev, more than once became the winner of the tournaments named after Tatyana Lebedeva and Elena Slesarenko, and the son of Alexei Yakovlevich - Ivan, makes progress in the all-around. In the Dubovsky district, interest in athletics is not declining, the experienced coach is convinced.

Legacy of Champions

The geography of the competition participants is evidence that the “queen of sports” is popular not only in our region. And this, of course, is the merit of the three Olympic champions from Volgograd. Slesarenko and Lebedeva also came that day to support their old friend, and at the same time discuss new plans. Including those related to holding tournaments named after them.

It's nice that the prestige of our tournaments is growing, - admitted the Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva.- I believe that an athlete who has achieved high results belongs not only to himself. It is his honorable duty to promote the sport in which he excels so that new champions grow. So that children can see and understand: it’s not the gods who burn the pots. And we are pleased to plunge into the atmosphere again, when a personality and character are just being formed. When the emotions of children are struck.

By the way, the personal example of the Volgograd champions also works in the family. Elena Slesarenko's six-year-old daughter Lisa, who came to the stadium with her mother, immediately boasted of yesterday's victory in the race for kids, in which the daughter of Elena Isinbayeva also participated Eve .

All tournament participants received branded starter kits with souvenirs from the Elena Isinbayeva Charitable Foundation, the winners were awarded medals and certificates. And those who were especially lucky were photographed with the famous Olympic champions. Champions of the competitions were awarded with special prizes and certificates for the purchase of sports products.

Record on record

As the judge of the highest category, the chief secretary of the competition, Olga Ushakova, told Volgogradskaya Pravda, a total of 14 tournament records for Isinbayeva's prizes have been set this year. The indicator, to put it bluntly, is outstanding.
