We fix a soccer ball with our own hands. Soccer ball from "A" to "Z" Repair soccer ball

During active games, the ball often breaks. In order not to constantly buy new sports equipment, it is better to fix it yourself. There are several methods for sealing a ball at home.

How to find a puncture

Sometimes, the ball does not hold air, but the damage is not visually visible. In this case, you need to pump it up and dip the water. Air bubbles will come out of the puncture site.

Important!

Repairs can only be started when the surface is completely dry.

What you need to stick the ball - material preparation

With certain knowledge, the repair of football equipment will not cause difficulties. First of all, you need to understand that repairing a ball and other rubber products (for example, car or bicycle tires) is practically the same. Renovation materials:

  • rubber glue;
  • superglue or second glue;
  • a piece of rubber or a finished patch;
  • sharp knife or scissors;
  • acetone.

Before repair, the ball should be washed thoroughly with a mild detergent, then dried naturally. The damaged area is degreased with acetone or alcohol.

How to glue a soccer ball

Repair of sports equipment varies depending on the type of ball and the nature of the damage. A tubeless ball is easier to fix, but there are ways to restore the camera.

Advice!

It is better to seal the ball in a deflated state. Due to the constant flow of air, the adhesive does not set well.

If a small hole

The smaller the damage, the easier it is to repair. Action algorithm:

  1. Find a hole on the surface.
  2. Seal the hole with rubber glue.
  3. Wait for the time, according to the instructions.

You can also use superglue. Easy to apply with a knitting needle. Thus, the glue will get not only on the surface, but also in the hole itself.

Glue without cutting the surface

For surface gluing of the ball, it is best to use a special patch. In stores you can find ready-made options - glue is immediately applied to them. These patches are convenient and easy to use, and can also be taken on the road. Repair algorithm:

  1. Degrease the damaged area.
  2. Cut off the excess from the patch so that it extends slightly beyond the hole.
  3. Release the adhesive surface of the patch.
  4. Glue it to the ball.

You can also use patches without an adhesive layer. They are a layer of rubber and are used in combination with super glue, second glue or rubber glue.

Repair from the inside: sealant

Some crafters use sealant to repair the chamber, from the inside of the ball. For this, a syringe without a needle is used. Sealant is collected into it, and then squeezed out to the site of damage to the camera. This method is only suitable for small injuries and does not require cutting the ball.

What to do if the camera is torn

In the event that the chamber is damaged, the ball will have to be cut in the place where the inflation hole is located. Instruction:

  1. Find the damaged area.
  2. Cut a patch of rubber slightly larger than the damage.
  3. Apply super glue to the patch.
  4. Press firmly and wait 1-2 minutes.
  5. Deflate the ball and return the camera to its place.
  6. Glue the chamber and casing for connection.
  7. Sew up the incision site with nylon threads.

Fact!

If the camera is rope (covered with a layer of rope), it is almost impossible to fix it.

After an active pastime, the ball should be washed without the use of aggressive products. Chemicals corrode the surface, so the inventory becomes less durable.

Balls should be dried only in natural conditions, far from heat sources.

Store inventory under normal conditions, avoiding extreme temperatures such as heat or frost.

After the game, it is better to lower the ball a little, and before using it, pump it up to the desired pressure. But in any case, do not pump it.

Conclusion

Any person can handle fixing a soccer ball. The main thing is to follow all the recommendations and use high-quality materials for repairs. In order for the inventory to serve for a long time and not need repair, it must be properly looked after and not exceed the recommended pressure level.

Greetings to all members of the forum and "glance" visitors to this resource!

In the last few months, there was not much time, and the Internet was, to put it mildly, "not very good." Now there was a free minute and finally the problem with the Internet was solved. Looking ahead, I want to say right away - if someone needs to repair the ball, write, I will help. Materials are selected individually.

Standard (adult) soccer ball has 5 size (size 5). This ball size is recommended for ages 12 and up. The circumference of the ball with the Fifa Quality Pro/Fifa Approved logos is 68.5-69.5 cm. The ball must weigh 425-445 gr. Ball pressure 0.8-1.1 bar

The ball is made from genuine leather or synthetics. Mostly it is polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). 85% of all balls are made in Pakistan, so do not be alarmed if you see the country of origin when buying.

PU coating is much better than PVC coating. The ball with a high-quality polyurethane coating does not harden in the cold and does not lose shape. The ball is very pleasant to the touch. The thicker the PU layer, the higher its quality! With a good TPU (thermopolyurethane) layer, the ball is better controlled, and such a ball also has better aerodynamics and circumference. PVC balls are much cheaper and wear out much faster. A ball made from such a coating may lose its shape, and in the cold it “dubes”.

Underneath the polyurethane is a textile lining that is glued crosswise to keep the ball in shape longer. Cheap balls have only a couple of layers, while more expensive models have 3 or more.

The ball is sewn by hand or by machine stitching. Hand stitching is much more reliable! Such seams are of higher quality, and balls sewn in this way are more expensive! When the thread breaks, a hand-sewn ball will not “break apart” because each panel of the ball is fixed with a knot. Be sure that your seams will remain intact. The hand-sewn ball has a thick thread.

Ball sewn by hand

Machine stitching is not very strong. The stitches are small and the seams are always visible. Balls sewn in this way will be cheaper than a ball that is sewn by hand.

Machine stitched ball

It is worth keeping an eye on By pressure ball! The pressure of a standard (adult) size 5 ball should be between 0.6 - 1.1 (usually 0.8 - 1.0) bar. To determine the pressure there is a special manometer. Some pressure gauges have a pointer on the scale with recommended pressure values for balls used in different types sports.

Since this ball is from the PRO category, its recommended pressure is 0.9 - 1.1 bar

Before inflating the ball, it is necessary to drop one or two drops of special oil onto the nipple (or onto a special needle), but if it is not there, then you can spit on the nipple. If the nipple is at least periodically lubricated, then your chamber will last 40-50% longer and the pressure in the ball will be consistently high. Since the nipple, unlike butyl and latex chambers, is made of rubber, it is less elastic and is affected by the environment: earth, grass, pebbles, moisture, etc. It is these factors that lead in most cases to the fact that the ball chamber fails.

Oil for nipple Select VALVE OIL

Special needle for inflating the ball

The required pressure is usually indicated on the pentagon where the chamber is glued. It can be different, because. depends on the "class" (pro, training, etc.) of the ball.

After each game, you need to lower (lower the ball) the pressure of the ball, so your ball will last longer! Panels and seams lose their elasticity and stretch, and the ball wears out faster if it is constantly under high pressure. It is for this reason that the ball must be lowered.

Camera

The chamber is made of butyl or natural latex. The butyl bladder is not as flexible (rigid), but it retains pressure better. Chambers of this kind are sometimes glued from four parts, while latex chambers are full!

The latex tube is more elastic, has a high rebound, and after hitting the ball, it instantly takes the outgoing shape of the ball. Many professional balls are equipped with a latex chamber with a double butyl nipple, which is the ideal solution, since the latex gives the ball softness and therefore better sensitivity, and the double butyl nipple reliably retains air for a long time. It is worth knowing that the latex chamber has the ability to bleed air, this is quite normal phenomenon. This is because the structure of latex is porous, and therefore a ball with this type of bladder will lose pressure earlier than a ball with a butyl bladder.

Balls are divided into several categories, namely: Professional (Pro) - this is a match ball labeled Fifa Quality Pro (Fifa Approved - the old marking valid until April 1, 2015) it is usually the most expensive, because. complies with all modern FIFA standards, which means that the ball marked Fifa Quality Pro (Fifa Approved) passed the following tests:

Sphericity test, - circumference test, - weight test, - pressure loss test - rebound test, - moisture absorption test, - shape retention test after 2000 impacts on a concrete slab.

The old ball marking looks like this

I think it's clear that:

FIFA Quality PRO is Fifa Approved

FIFA Quality is Fifa Inspected

IMS - International Match Standard(left untouched)

What do these logos mean?

FIFA Quality PRO/Fifa Approved - approved by FIFA ( International Federation football)

FIFA Quality/Fifa Inspected - inspected by FIFA

To receive the FIFA Inspected label, a soccer ball must successfully pass 6 standard tests. The ball is tested for weight, circumference, roundness, rebound, water absorption, pressure loss, sphericity. Balls marked FIFA Quality / FIFA Inspected correspond to the IMS analogue, i.e. the ball complies with FIFA standards, however, this ball cannot be used for official matches.

IMS - International Standard for Soccer Balls

All balls bearing the IMS logo comply with FIFA requirements. The only difference between FIFA Quality/Fifa Inspected and IMS is that these balls cannot be used in official matches under the auspices of FIFA. Football companies with the FIFA Quality/FIFA Inspected logo will have to pay a small fee to FIFA, while there is nothing to pay for the IMS logo! That's the whole difference.

Tips for caring for a soccer (and not only) ball

After each game, wipe the ball with a slightly damp cloth. Remember, the ball must dry naturally! If the ball is very wet, wipe it dry soft cloth. Dry the ball in a well-ventilated area away from heat sources. Never dry the ball with a hair dryer, etc. and also do not put the ball on the surface of heating appliances. Prolonged exposure to dirt, moisture, high temperatures leads to deterioration physical properties ball, and, as a result, its playing characteristics, reducing the service life. Remember about the pressure of the ball, after the game, let it go down a little, before the game, inflate to the prescribed pressure, which is often indicated on the pentagon with a nipple. Don't pump the ball!

By following these simple instructions, you can extend the life of your ball.

P.S. I hope this article was useful to you. Thank you for your attention! Be kind!

The time of the friendly match has been agreed in advance, you are already dressed in a football uniform, socks, laces on your boots are tightened. The heart is filled with a pleasant presentiment upcoming game, the excitement of intrigue - who will win today. It remains to grab your favorite ball.

But what is it? You can't believe your eyes - the ball is blown away. You have been choosing him for so long, having played more than one winning game, for you he is more than a ball. He is your companion and helper.

How could this happen? Similar situations in sports all the time. Even the most thorough care and caution will not protect your sports equipment from damage.

Fans leave a lot of garbage on the fields, including broken glass. The builder forgot to fill the nail. Teenagers dabbled with the mesh, now the ends of the wire stick out in different directions. Such moments pose a danger not only to the health of athletes, but also to the integrity of sports items.

Professional soccer player hits the ball, giving it a speed at the start of 90 to 120 km / h. Let's assume that amateurs hit with less force. But according to the laws of physics, when accelerating, the mass of a body increases. As well as the impact force in a collision with another object: the end of a wire, a protruding nail, a peacefully gleaming piece of glass. An inflated ball has no chance of remaining unscathed.

What to do if the soccer ball is punched?

  • Buy new.
  • Send it to a repairman.
  • Repair a soccer ball with your own hands. In a simple manual way. The procedure is painstaking, requires diligence, little knowledge of sewing, repair of rubber products. Believe me, you will be good for yourself, and your friends will envy the fact that you fixed the ball yourself.

Let's get ready for the repair accordingly:

  • a small sharp knife or scissors for tearing the seam;
  • shoe awl;
  • patch and glue for a bicycle inner tube;
  • needle "gypsy" 2 - 3 pieces;
  • pliers;
  • vise (may be small manual);
  • two small planks the size of a matchbox and 1 cm thick;
  • silk thread (synthetic, shoe) twisted;
  • a small piece of wax or wax candle;
  • acetone and fine sandpaper for cleaning surfaces,
  • pen (felt-tip pen),
  • needle pump,
  • rag.

So let's get started!

1. First of all, determine if the nipple is leaking air. Lather your hands with ordinary soap until foam forms, apply it on
place "nipple". If no new bubbles appear, then everything is in order with the nipple.

2. You will have to work with sharp objects, so remember not only about your own safety, but also about accuracy. So that in the process of work not to make new holes in the chamber.

3. Determine the place of ripping. It is most convenient to open the tire from the side opposite to the nipple - the likelihood of the camera peeling off the “nipple” is reduced.
Important: the main part of the balls is sewn with several seams. Therefore, carefully consider the direction of the seams. You can easily see that there are several of them, they diverge in the corners of the panels in different directions.
You need to flog the seam correctly: from corner to corner of the 5-gon, preferably from knot to knot. With a knife (scissors), carefully cut one thread. Next, pull the threads with a shoe awl. In the course of ripping, knots will come across in the corners - this indicates the beginning and end of the seam.
Spread 2-3 edges, try to pull out the camera. It turns out - it means that the threads can not be pulled out further. Then you have to sew less

4. Insert the needle from the pump into the nipple, blow off the ball. Remove the chamber carefully, mindful of the nipple. After taking out the camera, make sure that it remains in its place. In many ball models (most often in No. 4), there is a synthetic winterizer in the chambers. Therefore, more effort may be required to force air out of synthetic baffles.

5. We are looking for a hole in the ball, for this we pump it up.
If the hole is large enough, then the air jet can be detected by hand. A microscopic hole will have to be found in the water. Finding damage - mark the place with a pen or felt-tip pen.

6. We seal the camera.
You can, of course, go to a tire fitting station, where the camera will be sealed quickly, efficiently, and reliably. In our version, we do everything ourselves, from start to finish. Take the patch, sand it a little for better grip. Deflate the chamber again, this time as much as possible. Make sure the surface of the chamber is clean. If necessary, wipe with acetone (or alcohol). Gently, evenly apply a thin layer of glue to the marked damage site. Let dry for 2-3 minutes. Put the patch on the glue.
Using a vise, clamp the bonding area between two wooden plates (they will prevent the vise from damaging the camera). Leave for at least 4 hours.

7. Disconnect the vise and put the camera inside the tire.
Fill the ball with air. After 15-20 minutes, check if the ball is moving. If the chamber does not hold air, then it is possible:

  • you need to redo the patch (we use a new one);
  • there are other damages - repeat the procedure.
    After the agreed time, the ball did not bleed the air - we can proceed to the overlay

8. Prepare the thread, needles, pliers.
Cut the thread 40 - 50 cm long. Dissolve it into three parts. Press the resulting thread with your finger to the wax, stretch it. Make several such broaches with each thread. As a result, it will not fluff when sewing, it will easily go through holes, it will become more resistant to moisture and low temperatures. Blunt the needles so they don't damage the camera. Pliers will help pull the needle through.

9. Determine the order in which the joints are connected, since there will be several seams.
Designate the beginning of each seam. Insert the thread into the needle. Beginning of a line. Bring the needle out from the inside of the tire so that both ends of the thread are the same length. Insert the loose end into the second needle. The principle of suturing is similar to lacing boots in a zigzag pattern. Visually, it can still resemble two woven snakes. It is important to tighten the thread well after each stitch. When doing this, be careful not to tear the material. Having finished the seam in the planned place, bring both needles inside the tire. Pull well, tie 3 - 4 knots. Cut the ends of the thread, leaving the ends 2 - 3 cm. Thread them inward.

10. Last node.
The end of the work is near, a few seams have been made, the climax remains - how to make the last knot. Bring the needle in, then out, between the edges to be sewn. Do the same with the second needle. Remove the needles. Tie 2-3 strong knots. Cut off the excess thread. Being extremely careful, adjust the knot and the ends of the threads inside the tire. You can use a thin, but not sharp tool.

11. "Massage" the new seams, gently spreading the material and threads so that everything fits well. Pump up the ball.

Several hours of work to restore the ball were crowned with success, the main thing is not to forget about it. Your reliable friend is with you again. Together you have to score more than one goal, achieve the desired victories. Believe me, it's worth it!

Fight for the ball

Pakistan, far from being the most football power in the world, produces half of the footballs on earth: they are sewn by hand in factories in the city of Sialkot. And although this time the official balls for the championship games were supplied by the Chinese, FIFA gave the Pakistanis a consolation prize - the right to flood souvenir shops with their products.

Why the production of soccer balls in Pakistan has reached such heights, the legend explains. A century ago, supposedly, British soldiers based in this country decided to play tennis, and someone broke the racket. A local craftsman volunteered to fix it, whose work the damned colonialists liked so much that they advised the population to start producing sports equipment. Advice, as they say, is worth its weight in gold: leatherworking in Pakistan was highly developed, and the demand for footballs in the vast British Empire was inexhaustible. In a word, by 1970 Sialkot had become the world center for the production of balls, even European manufacturers moved their production there because of cheap labor. At the same time, the production of official balls for championships under the auspices of FIFA began here.

Problems came from where they were not expected: by the end of the 1990s, human rights activists led by UNICEF and the International Labor Organization intervened in the established business, they say, child labor is mercilessly exploited in the local factories. Fearing for its reputation, FIFA already in 2006 put forward the slogan "Score a goal with a clear conscience!" and ditched hand-sewn balls in favor of machine-made ones. In 2010, China won the competition for supplies, and the "FIFA Approved" label will now only be placed on balls produced "under appropriate working conditions."

In order not to destroy the industry created in Pakistan, factories were still allowed to make official "souvenir" balls for the 2010 World Cup. Not so prestigious, but profitable: sales per year can jump from 40 to 60 million dollars. However, balls from Sialkot will be able to shine on the football field at the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League matches: the Pakistani manufacturers have already concluded a corresponding agreement.

Pakistan exports 40 million balls a year, which generates about $210 million in revenue. But the country is still far from modern factory conditions.
