The best firms and brands of bmx bicycles. How to choose a BMX for a beginner The best bmx companies

Received worldwide recognition back in the 70s - 80s of the last century, the discipline of BMX (bicycle motocross), today has become one of the most popular types extreme sports. Initially, BMX consisted only of racing on dirt tracks (racing), now this direction includes various stunt disciplines, including street, park, dirt, freestyle, vert and flatland. Manufacturers produce bikes that meet the requirements of every discipline, as well as versatile bikes to suit the most popular styles.

There are a lot of bike manufacturers that produce BMX bikes, you can’t list them all quickly. Among them there are well-known popular companies, as well as recently emerging firms that deserve attention, as well as manufacturers that produce great best quality. From such an assortment, eyes run wide, so we will try to highlight a few cycling companies that you should pay attention to when choosing a BMX bike.

Top BMX Brands

When choosing the best BMX bike manufacturers, we paid attention to the following parameters:

  • strength of the frame, fork, steering wheel and connecting rods;
  • quality of welds and assembly;
  • range of models;
  • history and popularity of the brand;
  • availability of quality certificates;
  • price policy;
  • design;
  • customer reviews.

To begin with, we will list the companies that we have chosen, after which we will dwell on each of them in more detail.

  1. Sunday;
  2. subrosa;
  3. Haro bikes;
  4. Hoffman Bikes;
  5. Fit Bike;
  6. Stolen Bike;
  7. redline;
  8. author;
  9. Giant.

The Sunday brand was founded in 2005. Due to the fact that among the developers there are actively cycling extreme people, Sunday products are as close as possible to the needs of customers. The company is represented by world famous riders: Aaron Ross, Jake Seeley, Gary Young, Eric Lichtenberger and others. The top models are made from super strong chrome molybdenum frames and other heat treated components, allowing the company to offer a lifetime warranty on these products. This instills confidence in the strength and reliability of Sunday bikes.

Subrosa manufactures bmx bikes and accessories. The quality is great and the price is affordable. A wide range of models allows you to choose a bike that is most suitable for the style of skiing and the budget of the buyer. Both universal models and street or park models are produced. Therefore, Subrosa bikes are popular with novice riders and experienced BMX enthusiasts. Spare parts of the company are often completed with bikes of other brands. The company is developing on a large scale, constantly updating the line and expanding the range of its products. Subrosa is represented in competition by: Scott Ditchburn, Lahsaan Kobza, Simone Barraco, Hoang Tran and others. These athletes take part in the development of components, so you can buy a bmx frame, fork, handlebar saddle, grips and other accessories that meet the needs of the riders, which gives comfort and reliability.

Haro Bikes

The company was founded by a professional freestyle cyclist Bob Haro back in 1975. B. Haro personally took part in the development of bikes, on which he then competed. Mind-blowing stunts performed by the president of the company, quickly promoted the brand to the leaders of BMX manufacturers and served to increase sales. The product range of the company is very wide, since Haro also produces mountain and beach bikes.

Hoffman Bikes

The Hoffman Bikes brand was founded by world famous professional BMX rider Mike Hoffman. The company manufactures a wide range of bikes, including street, halfpipe and freestyle bikes.

Fit Bike

Fit Bike offers bmx bikes different geometries to clearly meet the requirements of each discipline. The range of the company includes both lowriders - bikes with a low landing for the street, and with a high landing for the dirt.

Stolen Bike

The Stolen Bike lineup includes BMX bikes designed for street riding and cross-country riding. Stolen Bike makes bikes out of chrome, which has a lightweight yet durable structure. Bicycles from this manufacturer have removable brakes for riders who prefer not to brake at all.

Redline was one of the first to make BMX bikes when there was only one discipline copied from motocross racing. Since Redline was already designing motorcycle frames at the time, it wasn't difficult for them to start making cross-country bikes. It is on the Redline bikes that races have been won since the distant 70s, so it is only natural that Redline are considered the best bikes for racing.

The Czech brand AUTHOR is primarily known as a manufacturer of quality mountain, hybrid, road and road bikes. But, AUTHOR also produces BMX bikes for street, park and dirt, the PIMPIE, PIMP and PIMPLE series. The AUTHOR pays great attention to quality, while their pricing policy is much more modest than American top bike brands. The company was organized in the early 90s by Martin Gavlena. Having quickly conquered the markets of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, AUTHOR continued to grow, expanding its model and size range, after which it entered the European market. AUTHOR successfully used its own advantage: having a lower cost compared to well-known European brands, as well as excellent quality of bikes, the company quickly grew from a local Czech brand to the level of a high-class European manufacturer.

South California American corporation GT has been on the bike market for almost 40 years. Over the years, the company has managed to win the trust of millions of fans around the world. GT bikes are named after their founder, Gary Turner, a talented inventor welder who designed the world's first BMX frame. It was welded in such a way that it created three triangles in space. This patented technology is still used to make frames that are a trademark and distinctive feature great brand GT. In the GT lineup, quality mountain, road, road, women's, children's and BMX bikes are great for amateurs and professionals alike. GT has supported many extreme sportsmen from the very beginning of the development of BMX disciplines, today they have their own cool teams in cross-country, enduro, downhill and trials.

BMX is one of the simplest bikes in design, originally created to prepare children for motocross. However, they are able to withstand loads that other mountain bikes can not handle, and this makes them ideal for stunt riding. Alas, you can only find a decent compliment for good money, so the pros most often assemble their bikes themselves. But novice athletes will be able to find a decent BMX in the store. The main thing is to take into account the recommendations when choosing a bike in order to buy a model that is reliable enough for your level of riding.

The principle of operation and the device of the BMX bike

Unlike other extreme bikes, BMX models do not have suspension. The rigid rigid frame is welded from seamless butted tubes, which have maximum strength at a relatively low weight. This - the only way to increase the reliability of a projectile experiencing extreme shock loads.

It also differs in its geometry: the motocross frame is very low, often elongated, although its length is more dependent on the style for which the bike is intended. To increase the reliability of the entire structure, a scarf is welded on the front triangle at the steering wheel itself (it works as an additional stiffener), and the rear feathers are attached to the top, and not just to the seat tube of the frame.

Custom design and at the helm. Here it freely rotates 360°, which allows you to expand the range of tricks performed on the bike. Naturally, there is no question of any cables stretching from the handles, so the BMX does not have a gear shift system.

As for the brakes, many models simply do not have them. And if there is, then these are the most common U or V-brake pads with the transmission of force by a cable tucked into the fork cavity. It is passed through a gyro in the head tube, since many performances on these bikes involve steering wheel rotation - without the "adapter", the brake cable will simply twist and come off.

Another characteristic feature of stunt bikes is the small diameter of the wheels up to 20″. Firstly, it allows to reduce the mass of the projectile, and secondly, it provides good maneuverability and does not prevent the athlete from performing basic tricks.

Pegs are additionally screwed to the axles of the wheels - short tubes 10-11 cm long, designed to support the legs and slide (grinds) on various surfaces.

Types of BMX bicycles

What is the difference between different types of BMX bikes? This is exactly what we are going to find out. After you read this article, visit the store, walk up to the bikes and try to immediately catch the difference between them.

If you're not sure what type of BMX your child wants, check with your bike shop to find out which bike is the most popular in your area, because the shop staff will probably know which product is most popular with young people. Or ask your son or daughter about it (in case they know what they specifically want).

street

Perhaps the most popular style of riding. After all, special tracks, playgrounds and parks are not needed for classes - the whole city is provided to the rider. Railings, parapets, benches and steps are excellent objects for honing your skills. Because of its accessibility, the street is chosen by the vast majority of beginner riders. For many, the Street is literally a way of life - it's a small subculture with its own fashion, music and behaviors.

The main differences between "street" bikes: light, often without brakes and sometimes even without saddles. Rubber with non-aggressive or completely “slick” tread. For some tricks, "pegs" may be set.

The main advantages of Street BMX include:

  • Moderately light and compact;
  • Narrow handlebars and short chainstays for easy plucking;
  • Good adhesion of wheels to the surface;
  • Maneuverability.

Similar bikes are used for Vert. This is one of the most spectacular BMX styles - ramp riding with aerial somersaults and somersaults. Therefore, retrofitting "flying" bicycles has to be done differently.

Pegs are installed on both the front and rear wheels, and the tires are only slick, with a weak tread pattern. The rest of the stories for vert are the same straights.

Racing

Actually, this is the classic BMX, with which everything once began. Such bikes are designed for high-speed riding with sharp turns of the track, low drops and other small obstacles. They have a lightweight frame made of durable 6005A aluminum alloy and stable wheels with a pronounced tread. Brakes are installed only rear.

The main advantages of Racing BMX include:

  • Very light, but strong enough;
  • Good gear ratio unlike most BMXs;
  • Confidently walk on slippery and loose ground;
  • More stable due to the extended base;
  • Equipped with good contact pedals.

Dirt

Dirt (ski jumping and extreme riding on earthen mounds) requires squat and heavier bikes. Unlike all other types of BMX, such bicycles can be equipped not only with a front brake, but also with a rear brake.

The main advantages of Dirt BMX include:

  • Equipped with the most durable frames;
  • Stable due to the low center of gravity;
  • The long base provides stability in flight;
  • Large fork deflection angle - a guarantee of a successful landing;
  • Tough rubber with strong tread.

Flatland

Flat is a very atypical bike, in principle, not intended for riding. It performs acrobatic numbers and “dances” on one wheel without touching the ground with their feet.

These bikes are characterized by a very short base and an almost vertical fork. They are hung with four powerful pegs - a pair on each wheel - so they must have reliable bushings both front and rear.

The main advantages of Flatland BMX include:

  • The short frame, and the whole design is made as convenient as possible for tricks;
  • Reinforced rims with a large number spokes;
  • Complete freedom of action with the steering wheel;
  • Responsive and tenacious brakes.

BMX bike selection options

Production material

This parameter determines everything: the weight of the bike, its “life” (adjusted for your riding style) and the cost of the projectile itself. And we are talking not only about the frame material, but also about other loaded elements: fork, steering wheel, bushings.

In the production of BMX bikes, two main types of metals are used:

  • Hi Ten- ordinary structural steel, inexpensive and far from the strongest. With aggressive skating and jumping, all parts of the bike made from it will quickly require replacement - they will either bend or even burst. Although under athletes of low weight, high-ten passes for a long time.
  • Cr-Mo- alloyed chromium-molybdenum steel. It is considered ideal for the manufacture of all metal parts BMX, because it is twice as strong as usual. But it doesn't come cheap either.

In the middle price range are bikes where some parts of the structure are made of Hi-Ten, while others are made of chromoly steel. If there is only enough money for such a model, make sure that at least the frame is alloyed (its replacement will be too expensive, unlike other nodes).

BMX on aluminum and titanium frames is a separate category of bicycles. The former are only suitable for racing without serious jumps and bumps, but can be used by teenagers and children. The latter are too expensive, and compared to Cr-Mo, the difference in price does not match the difference in their strength.

Steering wheel and column

The BMX steering column must be strong enough and have a diameter of at least 1.1/8″. It is better to give preference to an integrated glass, where by default there are closed-type industrial bearings that do not have any negative effect on the pipe. In addition, such a column is easier and cheaper to change.

Carriage glass

This seat for pedal cranks and drive sprocket.

Today BMX manufacturers offer 2 main types of bottom brackets:

  1. With press-fitted bearings and bushing - it is better if it is Mid or lighter "Spanish" (Spanish);
  2. Threaded, with external bearings (Euro) - not the most popular. Heavy, not very reliable and also require the selection of special connecting rods.

Sometimes there are still bicycles with an American-type glass, where bearings (often bulk) are additionally fixed with cups. It is better to refuse to buy a device with such a landing of the carriage.

bushings

Deserve special attention when choosing BMX bikes, as they often take on the entire load.

In addition, they have several options for execution:

  1. Freewheel- relatively inexpensive bushings with a ratchet and a rather large, heavy star.
  2. with driver- ideal for trick models, since the ratchet cassette is more durable than the ratchet and allows you to reduce the weight of the projectile by reducing the drive gear.
  3. Fricoster- a chic and insanely expensive type of bushings just for stunt bikes. But on standardized complements, they are practically never found, if this is not some kind of flagship model.

Do not forget to specify the type of bearings installed: industrial (“industrial”) are required on the rear wheel and highly desirable on the front.

As for the dimensions, the rear bushings should in any case be 14 mm in diameter - the usual ten is not suitable here, because after installing the peg under the weight of the rider, it will simply bend out. A 9.5mm lighter axle is allowed on the front wheel - again, as long as it's not a flat model and you don't plan on using front pegs.

wheels

Take a bike with double rims right away - they are stronger and more resistant to deformation. Singles can be taken for a teenager, but even after several unsuccessful jumps, he can easily make a figure eight out of the wheel.

The number of spokes depends on the size of the hub, but the more there are, the more seriously it will be possible to load the wheels - this applies to both the weight of the rider and the level of extreme while riding.

Tires are usually used wide (1.8-2.25″) with a slick or semi-slick profile. But if you have to ride on poor coverage, it makes sense to take a more aggressive tread.

Pedal material

We are not talking about the connecting rods themselves - here the choice is obvious: either immediately buy a bike with Cr-Mo, or take a Hi-Ten and change it to an alloy alloy from the very first money.

The following options are available here:

  1. Aluminum pedals- reliable and durable, quite affordable.
  2. Magnesium- the best, because with the same strength indicators they weigh less than aluminum, but they also cost much more.
  3. Plastic- inexpensive, easy to change, but they clearly lack strength. Yes, and grip with the sole they are unimportant.

Rostov

Oddly enough, traditional frame size doesn't really matter in BMX. These bikes are mostly ridden while standing on the pedals, which means that the issue of convenience depends only on the constitution of the athlete. However, the length of the top tube is worth paying attention to.

pick her up better method examples, but for reference, you can use the following numbers:

  1. For children and teenagers with a height of 140 cm, a frame of 18-20 ″ is considered optimal;
  2. With a height of 150-170 cm, you can already take models 20.25-20.75 ″;
  3. For tall athletes from 180 cm, frames 21-21.2 ″ are suitable, but this is the ceiling. Doing tricks with such a pipe length does not seem convenient to everyone.

Which BMX to choose?

If you want to introduce a child to sports, take him a BMX children's model with wheels from 12 to 18 inches. An aluminum or Hi-Ten frame no longer than 20″ will be enough for him, small bushings up to 10 mm in diameter will also be enough. Brakes are required.

Beginners just learning this spectator sport, it is better to take a bike of the middle price category, but certainly on a chrome-molybdenum frame with an equally reliable steering wheel. The rest of the metal parts of the bike can be made of ordinary steel if the rider's weight is small.

As experience is gained, part of the budget body kit should still be replaced. But the rear hub should initially be “adult”, that is, have 14 mm in diameter. There are no particularly strict requirements for the front. Brakes, as in the case of children's bicycles, will definitely come in handy at first.

Those who have enough money for a good BMX and have experience in extreme riding will need the most durable bike, because you will “kill” it diligently and competently. Accordingly, everything in its design - from the frame to the cranks of the pedals - must be made of Cr-Mo.

The body kit should also be chosen as reliable as possible: Mid-glasses on the carriage, cassette bushings with industrial bearings, a powerful aluminum star and a corresponding chain. Pedals are better to choose from magnesium alloy. If something from this list is not in the complete set, it is advisable to immediately buy and change it.

How much does a BMX bike cost

For a children's stunt bike in stores they ask from 5 to 20 thousand rubles.

A budget street model on a steel frame can be purchased for 10-22 thousand rubles.

Aluminum BMX for racing are priced from 18 to 28 thousand.

Approximately within the same limits (15-30 thousand) you can buy combined bikes assembled from alloyed and Hi-Ten parts.

Good chrome-molybdenum bikes can be found with a budget of 19 to 40 thousand rubles, although some of the body kit may need to be changed.

Really cool bike for motocross, designed for the pro level, will cost from 30 to 100 thousand rubles. Or even higher if you choose a novelty from a well-known brand.

OFF TOP

BMX bikes are designed for cycling motocross competitions, but in everyday life they have become a fashion trend among today's youth. In city parks and on street playgrounds, you can often find a group of teenagers practicing stunt riding.

With the spread of extreme cycling in the world, BMX culture has become an integral part of the lives of many riders. The design of the bike is designed taking into account high loads on it during stunt and extreme riding, and the small dimensions of the bike provide great opportunities for learning and polishing various tricks. The strength and reliability of a bike largely depends on the manufacturer, so, as elsewhere, there are a number of top brands.

GT

Bicycles under the GT brand have been on official sale since 1975. The founder of the company is Gary Turner, a welder by profession, who was the first to make a frame from chromoly, thereby giving the bike best performance. Until the mid-90s, this American company was considered the best in the world in the production of BMX. Since 1988 GT started production mountain bikes and quite quickly managed to break into the market leaders in this direction. From its inception to the present day, GT has been a worthy competitor to the leading bike manufacturers.

Haro

Haro is an American company founded in 1978 by two famous racing drivers Jim Ford and Bob Haro. Speaking at competitions and knowing about all the shortcomings of the bike, Bob and Jim decided to create a bike themselves that would satisfy the highest demands of athletes. Since then, Haro has been one of the world's leading manufacturers of extreme bikes, whose products on racing tracks, descents and ascents is unmatched.

Odyssey

Among top manufacturers It is worth noting other companies such as: Klink, Sunday, Fit, Cult, Subrosa, DK, Mongoose.

Almost all of the above companies employ well-known racers, pro riders. This collaboration of engineers and athletes brings companies a steady success. The practical experience of riders and the latest developments of engineers allow us to find new solutions to improve the efficiency of bicycle design, delighting buyers with more advanced BMX models.

It is difficult to single out a clear leader among the leading manufacturers, because each brand is good in its own way and each company always has its adherents.

At the beginning of the XXI century in the list of summer Olympic disciplines BMX (beymix) appeared, which is gaining popularity by leaps and bounds. Bicycle Moto eXtreme - velomotocross. Manufacturers quickly responded to demand: today there is a large selection of extreme bikes for sale for different directions and styles, in all price categories. Where to start, how to choose the first BMX bike, what discipline to prefer - we will tell you here.

Before understanding the features of the models, you need to make a decision - what kind of extreme cycling to do.

  1. Race - racing on the ground with obstacles. The standard route consists of several straight sections, turns, many obstacles (table, camel, waves, etc.). Start from the slope (up to 4 meters high) at the same time 8 riders.

2. Flatland - dancing on a bike. Execution of figures on a flat surface. The most "safe" direction. But in comparison with other species, it is very extremely difficult.

3. Freestyle - free style. It is divided into several types:

  • Vert (vertical) - work in a U-shaped ramp. Rolling from one edge of the ramp, the baymixer flies up on the other, performing combinations and cascades in the air.

  • Dirt (ground) - on a dirt hilly track, the cyclist accelerates, flies up on the rise and gives out twists.

  • Street (street) - riding and tricks are performed on natural urban obstacles - stairs, curbs, railings.

  • Park (park) - combines the styles of Street and Vert. Special areas with obstacles have been created for training riding skills and performing jump elements. The most advanced type of freestyle, because it is not associated with the risk of movement on the roadway, footpaths, natural dangerous obstacles. For beginners, a very good start.

To understand the differences between a regular bike and a BMX, let's look at a few tricks performed by athletes:

  • riding on the rear wheel without pedaling;
  • jumping from a height;
  • takeoffs on ski jumps and landings with the continuation of movement;
  • rotation of the steering wheel in the air by 360 degrees;
  • vertical stance in the air (rudder and face to the ground) with a hard landing to continue moving.

All these “airs and cancans” cannot be done on a regular bike, and it will simply fall apart after the first trick. That is why a separate line appeared in the industry - velomotocross bikes.

What is BMX made of?

Extreme skiing requires a special set of materials and parts so that the machine can withstand loads, falls, hard landings. This two-wheeler must be strong, light, maneuverable. Based on this, the manufacturer changed the standards of the bike.

The main differences and advantages of BMX:

  • the frame geometry has been changed: the small dimensions of the bike reduce weight, increase maneuverability;
  • frame, fork, fasteners - from the most durable shock-resistant materials;
  • lack of switches, drive system - single speed;
  • there is no suspension;
  • on the axles of the wheels there are pegs - footrests that help to perform tricks;
  • the pedals are wide, studded;
  • on wheels two-three-chamber rims.

All changes are aimed at strengthening the strength of the entire structure.

Frame

The basis of an extreme bike is a rigid base made of special pipes (butting technology), low and often elongated. The steering wheel for the reliability of the design has an additional stiffener (kerchief). The rear wheel is attached to the seat post and the top tube of the frame at the same time.

The bed should not be heavy, it is believed that for professionals the maximum weight is 3 kg. For beginners, a heavier model is suitable: you need to learn stability, not jump above your skills. With the advent of experience, you can think about less weight of the structure.

wheels

Tires are small - no more than 20 inches on 36 and 48 spokes. The wheels themselves are made as strong as possible, the axle is reinforced. Small wheels lighten the design and make it easy to control the bike.

Tubes (pegs) are attached to the axles to support the legs during tricks. The same pegs glide along the surfaces of railings and other surfaces. The load on the axle is very powerful, therefore, special requirements are imposed on the wheels: only industrial bearings are needed in this unit.

Steering wheel

The steering wheel does not have any cables, because it must spin 360 degrees in both directions. An additional crossbar is attached to the base of the steering wheel, this adds rigidity.

Extreme bikes have handlebars of different geometry:

  • classic - one curved pipe and a crossbar;
  • four-element - independent pipes welded from different sides to the central crossbar, reinforced with a crossbar;
  • with a low crossbar - where there is no heavy load, but high tuning accuracy is needed.

There are other variations, but they are already professional. The strongest and most reliable steering wheel-classic.

Brake

The braking systems of velomotocross are Y- or U- brake pads. Experienced bikers, confidently working at speed, generally remove the brakes. In this case, they brake with the sole of the shoe, clamping the tire of the rear wheel. In some BMX disciplines, the absence of a brake is a mandatory requirement.

To prevent the brake cable from twisting while turning the steering wheel, a gyrorotor is installed on the baymix. This mechanism has bearings and splitters that do not allow twisting.

Pedals

The main support for the cyclist's legs is studded pedals. The coupling of shoes with the pedal is very important when performing combinations. A slipped foot is a loss of control over the bike.

Pedals differ in material:

  • aluminum - inexpensive, not very strong, the heaviest pedals;
  • magnesium - light, expensive;
  • plastic is light, but breaks faster.

It is better to use industrial bearings in pedals. Bulk ones will do for beginners, but with increasing loads they will quickly fail.

Saddle

An important detail of a conventional bicycle is a saddle, which does not play a special role in BMX. They ride these crossers standing up, the figures are also performed standing up: in some they put a hand on the saddle or pinch it with their knees.

Specific differences in style

Depending on which direction of velomotocross you choose, you need to pick up the “iron horse”. Each line of these bikes has specialized bells and whistles.

Racing

The classic extreme bikes that started it all. The main thing for them is speed, maneuverability when cornering, controllability when passing obstacles. Therefore, the base is a strong, but lightweight aluminum alloy, the wheels are stable, the tread is powerful. Brake - rear only.

Advantages:

  • as light as possible, very reliable;
  • confidently roll on ice, loose or wet soil;
  • the extended frame makes the bike more stable;
  • high-quality pedals, maximum contact.

Disadvantages:

  • absolutely no depreciation. Rigid model.

street

For riding tricks around the city, the bike was shortened, the design was simplified and lightened as much as possible. It is these models that most do not have a brake system and a saddle. Front wheel- with an aggressive tread, rear - slick.

Advantages:

  • light, nimble, compact;
  • the steering wheel is narrow, nimble is great;
  • clear grip of the tread with any surface.

Disadvantages:

  • the design of the fork is such that it is undesirable to jump from springboards;
  • even with a high-quality frame, the rest of the body kit is the simplest.

Vert

The most exciting creative style of the extreme: ramp departures, somersaults and somersaults. These models are called "flying bikes". A feature of the model is slick tires, pegs on both wheels. Otherwise, they are similar to straights.

Advantages:

  • durable frames, forks and wheels.

Disadvantages:

  • heavy.

Dirt

To ride on earthen embankments, to jump from ski jumps, the bike must become heavier and lower. But the brakes here can be front and rear.

Advantages:

  • the most durable frame;
  • very stable;
  • the longer the top tube, the more stable the jump;
  • the angle of the fork has been increased to make it safer to land;
  • Strong tread for excellent grip.

Disadvantages:

  • the heaviest of the BMX;
  • not suitable for tricks of other styles.

Flatland

The bike is not for riding - that's the type. It is intended for “dancing”, all cascades are performed on a wheel (the second one spins in the air), the task is to make the maximum of acrobatic figures without stepping on the ground. Here is a short base, vertical fork. The main power is in the wheels, high-quality pegs, reliable bushings.

Advantages:

  • the design is convenient for bells and whistles and somersaults (shortened);
  • reinforced rims, increased number of spokes;
  • the steering wheel is easy to believe in any direction;
  • fast hard brake.

Disadvantages:

  • almost impossible to ride.

Height doesn't matter for tricks

All extreme bikes are used while standing on the pedals, that is, the height is great does not mean anything. But the size of the top tube will help create comfort when riding and jumping. Ideally, you just need to get on the bike and try on whether it is comfortable to hold the wheel. For a general understanding, there are certain standards for the length of the pipe (inches):

  • up to 140 cm - 18-20;
  • 150-170 cm - 20.25 - 20.75;
  • from 180 cm and above - 21 - 21.2.

More than this size, the length of the pipe should not be, it will not work to make tricks.

What are the prices for BMX

Of course, this topic can only be discussed in general terms, specific models, types, year of manufacture will vary the price. But to have an idea, let's build an approximate price line (rubles):

  • children - 5-20 thousand;
  • budget street (steel frame) - 10-22 thousand;
  • for racing (race) aluminum - 18-28 thousand;
  • combined bikes (alloyed) - 15-30 thousand;
  • BMX of the average level of training - 20-40 thousand;
  • for professionals, cool bikes will cost 30-100 thousand or more.

Buying an expensive branded bike for a beginner is not very justified, strength and safety are more important, so we chose equipment in the range of 13-20 thousand rubles to start with.

But they still argue - how dangerous is this sport, is it necessary for young people?

Engage in extreme velocross with adolescence up to about 35 years of age. Baymixers perceive their hobby more often as a subculture, a means of self-expression, a way of life. The freestyle style in clothes has appeared, the number of BMX interest clubs is growing. Accordingly, there are approved safety rules that cannot be neglected. When buying a child's first extreme bike, take care of his safety.
