There is an opinion that in terms of technology development Russia is hopelessly inferior to Western countries. Military equipment is rightfully considered the quintessence of technological development. We had the opportunity to compare aviation. With tanks, too, as it were, everything is obvious.

Starting from July 30, the Army Games 2016 started simultaneously at 20 training grounds from Siberia to Kaliningrad, as well as in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a grandiose event comparable to the Olympics, but with the use of military knowledge, equipment and resources. Traditionally, our editors could not ignore such an event.

As part of the Army Games, 121 teams from 19 countries of the world, as well as 11 observer countries, will take part. The most representative teams were put up by colleagues from China, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Every year there is a growing interest in games among foreign participants. For example, this year Belarus has expanded its participation in the Aviadarts competition. The most popular among the competitions is the “Tank Biathlon”, which takes place at the Alabino training ground near Moscow and will last until August 13. Countries such as Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Nicaragua, India, Serbia, Tajikistan and Russia take part in this competition. For the first time this year, Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe are participating. As always, we present to your attention a report from the venues of the event.

International army games"ARMY-2016" crossed the equator. So far everything is running normally. Ahead of the hottest battles for prizes.

Exactly a week ago, last Saturday, the International Army Games started at the Alabino training ground near Moscow, in which teams from nineteen countries take part. Games will end next Saturday, August 13th.

One of the most spectacular competitions is "Tank Biathlon", which opened the games. Yesterday, the PRC team entered the tank battle. So the lot fell out that the tankers from the Celestial Empire had to wait almost a week. But they immediately rushed forward like stagnant dragons. And today, the army team of the People's Republic of China sought to show the best result. They act on their tank. It has a more powerful engine and, according to tank experts, an even more advanced fire control system than the one on the T-72B3, the main biathlon tank. And deafening victories were expected from the Chinese.

Alas, in yesterday's race were shown not the most top scores by shooting. And today, in the first race, only two out of three "tank" targets were hit. True, the targets "helicopter" and "grenade launcher" were destroyed by the first burst of machine guns. The dynamic characteristics of the Chinese tank are excellent. It overtakes the T-72B, which was demonstrated on the track. But it also plays against the crew, which is fond of speed. Today, when passing the so-called snake, the Chinese tank simply demolished two columns, for which he received penalty points. In general, it should be noted that Chinese tankers have every chance of becoming winners or even winners of the "Tank Biathlon".

They perform just as confidently in the "Keys from Heaven" competition, which takes place at the "Ashuluk" training ground. The S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems in the Celestial Empire have learned to master to perfection. Tomorrow the decisive stage will be held - live firing of missiles at air targets. And it will become clear who is stronger: Russians, Belarusians, Kazakhs or Chinese. While all the teams of anti-aircraft gunners go, one might say, head to head.

There are preliminary results for other competitions. At the competition of divers "Depth" Russia is in the lead, followed by Iran and Venezuela. In the "Airborne Platoon" competition, the places were distributed as follows: China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran, Egypt, Belarus, Venezuela.

Very tense struggle in the competition "Military Medical Relay Race". Alternately, the teams of Russia and China take the lead. According to the results of the first stage of the medical competition, the places were arranged as follows: the Russian Federation, China, Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe.

The Chinese team is leading in the Rembat repairman competition, which takes place in Omsk. However, the teams of Kazakhstan and Russia have every chance to become champions. Cadets of the Omsk Armored Engineering Institute also take part in the competition. And they show better results than army teams. But the cadets go out of competition.

According to representatives panel of judges while all stages of the games pass without significant comments and claims from the participants. True, yesterday a small conflict arose at the "Seaborne Assault" competition. Representatives of the PRC team did not agree with the results of the penalty points. The dispute went on until midnight, but no understanding was reached. Today, all objective video information will be provided, the testimony of the judges, and the decision will be made.

Iran did not agree with the disqualification of the two crews. Although in one case it was shown that safety in such complex games with the use of firearms is above all, and for the slightest violation, the punishment should be the most severe. The judges disqualified one of the Iranian crews because the fighter violated the safety requirement at the firing line. He jumped out of the armored personnel carrier when the fire had not yet ceased. In another case, the crew grossly violated the elementary rules for driving a floating armored personnel carrier. Coming out of the water, the driver forgot to open the engine shutters, and it quickly overheated and boiled. In combat, this would mean stopping the car, which immediately turned into a stationary target. So the disqualification was justified.

China and Iran did not protest, but did not agree with the results. However, what kind of competition is this if everyone agrees with everything?

This is the first time that a Zimbabwe army team is taking part in games of this magnitude. Everyone is rooting for the warriors of this country! But the team is rather weak, although their mock fights leads to the end. It is surprising that the Zimbabwe army men dared not only to go through the "Tank Biathlon" tracks, but also to measure their strength with military scouts in the taiga near Novosibirsk. As they say, Zimbabwe's scouts got lost among the dense thickets of cedar, pine, if deciduous trees. They were searched for a long time and found not discouraged. They did not refuse further participation in the competition "Excellent Military Intelligence Workers". And they did it right. Who else in Africa will boast that he passed the Siberian taiga and did not give up in the fight against the best scouts of Russia, China, Armenia and Kazakhstan?!

In the "Tank Biathlon" the Zimbabwe team is also not going well. Today the crew could not manage to load first the tank gun, then the tank machine guns. As a result, time was lost forever, the route, on which the PRC tankers spent a little more than twenty minutes, the crew from Zimbabwe passed in more than an hour. But the target "helicopter" was shot down by the first shot. By the way, Russian tankers did not hit this target.

The fact that the rating of the Zimbabwe team is higher than that of the Armenian team does not mean that the Armenians performed poorly. Not at all. The team is very confident. The calculation takes into account the number of competitions in which teams participate and the total number of teams entered. Zimbabwe is simply more actively represented in the ARMY-2016 games than Armenia or India.

The International Army Games continue, and the intensity of passions in them is no less than at the Olympics in Brazil.

Our country became the initiator of the first ever international military games, comparable in intensity of passions and entertainment with the Olympics. They can also be called jousting tournament XXI century.
Of course, all armies learn to fight. And yet, let the warriors of the world fight each other at the training grounds, finding out in bloodless battles who is the best among them.

For the first time such competitions were held in 2013 at the initiative of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. In addition to Russia, teams from Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan participated in them. The very idea turned out to be so surprising and attractive that three years later, ARMY-2016, as the games are now called, was attended by 121 teams from 19 states, with a total number of more than 3.5 thousand people. In comparison with last year, the number of teams increased by 2.5 times, and the number of participants in the Games - by 2.2 times.

17 teams from 15 countries met in the most spectacular battle - "Tank Biathlon". Even distant Zimbabwe sent its tankers. They did not show outstanding results, which is not surprising. In Zimbabwe, the Chinese version of the Soviet T-55 is in service. These are very old cars. And at the Alabino training ground, black tankers had to operate the latest version of the T-72B3. It's the same as putting a pilot of a piston aircraft in a jet and expecting from him aerobatics. They couldn’t manage to load either the gun, or the machine gun, or the tank stalled on the rise. Nevertheless, not very strong-looking guys withstood all the stages of the biathlon, they did not leave the race.

Interestingly, the tankers of a number of NATO countries also expressed a desire to take part in the competition. But they refused for various reasons. It is quite possible that they simply did not want to lose, if not to Zimbabwe, then to Angola, especially to China, India and Russia.

In any case, those tank competitions that were held this spring in Germany did not show any outstanding results for NATO tankmen. The United States did not even enter the top three of NATO leaders, losing to Poland. By the way, the Poles bypassed the American "Abrams" on their version of the T-72.

At the "Tank Biathlon" the Chinese performed in their cars. They stood much more powerful engines than on the T-72B3. And, according to experts, the best sighting and computing systems. It was expected that tankers from China would immediately take the lead. Their tank really flew like a bird, but there were unacceptably many misses when firing. Penalty circles according to the rules of biathlon and penalty points nullified speed characteristics tank.

Moreover, at the final races, the crew of the Russian T-72B3 easily bypassed the Chinese car, which was generally surprising. Perhaps the fatigue of the tankers from the Celestial Empire affected.
The very first final competition in "Alabino" was the competition of motorized riflemen and marines on the BMP-2. The Chinese also performed here in their car. It was a significantly modernized BMP-2 with the original combat module. The Chinese either took the lead, or lagged behind, and their shooting did not always go well. In the most stubborn struggle, the crews of the Russian army nevertheless became the first. In second place are the crews of the People's Liberation Army of China, in third place are crews from Kazakhstan.

Prize-winning places were also located in the "Tank Biathlon", which, in terms of the intensity of passions, was difficult to compare with anything. It's a pity for the tankers from Belarus. They showed themselves perfectly throughout the biathlon. And in the final races just no luck. Shooting somehow did not work, and then the tank broke down, it had to be changed.
