Like a bike comes in a box. How to build a road bike out of the box. Required tools to assemble a bike out of the box

To begin with, if you have the opportunity - never assemble bicycles yourself. Whether it's an adult bike or a kid's bike, assembly is a pretty tricky business. This is the lot of craftsmen who have "eaten" more than one dog on this and know all the intricacies of assembling. During assembly, “emergency situations” often occur - the bike is not tuned, the wheel is not mounted evenly, the bolts do not fit, etc.

For a specialist who does this every day for 8-10 hours, this will cause a hitch for 5-10 minutes, he will quickly find a replacement for the missing part, and fix the problem. And for you it can turn into a real "nightmare". So think, is it worth it?

So, back to the bike in the box. The bike is in a box in a partially disassembled state. This is mainly done to reduce the cost of transporting the bike, as well as to protect the bike from external influences. The front wheel, handlebars, saddle and pedals have been removed from the bike. All additional details - wings, mirrors, horns, reflectors, plugs will have to be installed independently.

For assembly you will need a good 15mm open-end wrench (or a dedicated pedal wrench), a 5mm hex wrench, and most likely 4, 6, 8mm hex wrenches, and spanners 10" and 6" Phillips screwdriver, medium size screwdriver, pliers.

UNPACKING

  • 1. Remove the bike and all parts from the box, then lay out all unassembled parts.
  • 2. Remove all cardboard from the bike and the packaging from the frame.
  • 3. Remove the plastic protective wrapping from the axles. Get rid of all those unnecessary packages. They are only needed for transportation.
  • 4. Rewrite serial number frames on the warranty card (usually under the carriage)

ASSEMBLY

Threaded connections

The material of most MTB threaded connections is aluminum, and the bolts are in most cases steel. Therefore, it is necessary to twist without using excessive force so that the thread does not break. It doesn’t spin - you don’t need to take a larger lever, but it’s worth checking if the thread in the assembly is clean, if there are chips, if the thread is generally suitable for this screw / bolt in the place where you set out to tighten it. Thread pitch varies. It is better to clean the thread (for example, with a needle or a sharp awl).

wheels

  • Determine the direction of rotation of the front wheel (for example, the arrow on a tire with directional tread). If there are no markings, you can put it anyway.
  • Install the front wheel into the fork so that the axle is clearly seated in its grooves.
  • Install the eccentric in the axle of the front wheel hub so that the eccentric tab is on the left in the direction of the bicycle, and the springs are on both sides of the hub with narrow edges towards the center.
  • Set the eccentric tab parallel to the wheel axis and tighten the plastic nut with your fingers, then tighten the eccentric tab. At the same time, the wheel should be securely fixed, but you should not tighten it with all your might.

brakes

  • Brake cables are highly recommended to be lubricated before being inserted into jackets.
  • If your bike has rim brakes, “fasten” them.
  • In the case of a highly asymmetrical arrangement of the brake levers, check the correct installation of the wheel in the grooves of the fork and, if necessary, turn the wheel 180 degrees by rearranging the eccentric.

Shifters

It is also recommended that the shifter cables be lubricated before being inserted into shirts. Also pay special attention to the smoothness of the lining of shirts for best quality switching. When screwing the shifters onto the handlebars, do not twist them to failure. Tighten them so that they turn slightly under load, but do not turn when the shifter/brake knob is pressed. This is so that when falling, the handle does not break from impact. In this case, it will only slightly rotate around the steering wheel.

Steering column(most often already installed on the bike)

Lubricate the seating surface of the steering cup with grease. It is necessary to press the cups very carefully, while you need to monitor the correct installation of the cups (do not confuse the upper and lower ones), and also make sure that the cups are pressed in without distortion. Inaccurate pressing can ruin the end of the steering cup, which will have to be trimmed already in the workshop. Before pressing the steering column cups, you can put them in the freezer - they will go in easier.

Stem and steering wheel

Set the handlebar symmetrically in the stem, and evenly tighten 2 or 4 bolts with a 5 mm (4.6 mm) hex wrench so that the brake levers are facing down at an angle of 30-45 degrees from the horizontal. After adjusting the steering wheel, fix it well to avoid possible injuries in the future. In addition to fixing the steering wheel, it is necessary to correctly distribute all the cables so that they do not pinch or fray anywhere.

Horns

  • If the bike has horns, rotate the horns to an angle of about 20-30 degrees up from horizontal, then tighten the bolts with a 5mm hex wrench. Saddle
  • Install the saddle in the frame and clamp it at the desired height with an eccentric.

Pedals

  • Each pedal is twisted against the motion of the bicycle. Accordingly, each pedal - right and left - has a versatile thread, that is, the left and right pedals are different! Find the pedal with the letter "L" on the end of the axle. This is a left-hand pedal with left-hand threads, i.e., it is screwed into the crank arm counterclockwise. The right pedal ("R") has a right hand thread.
  • Tighten the pedals properly with a 15mm open end wrench (6mm or 8mm hex). It is very important to tighten the pedals tighter - they tend to spin.

Shop site, in this photo essay will tell you how to assemble a bike out of the box

Introduction

From the experience of working in the company, I can say that most often we send bicycles in boxes to other cities using the services of transport companies. In order to find out the shipping cost, you will need to know the size of the box.

Approximate dimensions of an adult bike box:

Volume: 0.2 cm 3 ,
Length: 140 cm,
Height: 70 cm,
Width: 20 cm.

We warn you that in order to guarantee the integrity of the kit and the completion of the warranty card, the boxes are opened and sealed again before shipping..

Training

So, you have received your new bicycle sealed in the box.

Be careful when opening the box, do not injure yourself on the staples

Our manager Alexander is ready to start assembling.

  • wire cutters
  • Hexagon set
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Slotted screwdriver (flat)
  • Key for 15
  • Lubrication (The bike will come treated with factory lubrication. But you will definitely need it when using it. For example, to process the chain after riding)

Remove the packaging material and clamps from the bicycle.

Be careful not to damageshift cable and brakes

Steering wheel installation

For convenience, we recommend that you first deal with the steering wheel. A 5 hexagon will help you with this.

  • Unscrew the bolt from above and remove the protective cardboard sleeve from the fork stem.
  • Straighten the cables (on the left and right side frame you should have one shift cable and brake each). Slide the stem onto the stem of the fork.
  • Hex 5, through the anchor cover, pull off steering column but do not over tighten. This bolt is only needed to select the steering column play.
  • Tighten the handlebar side bolts. Bolts provide final fixation
  • Set the brake levers and shift knobs on the steering wheel to a comfortable position.

Mounting the steering wheel on a threaded steering column

If the steering wheel is mounted on a threaded steering column, then simply insert the stem into the hole in the frame. And tighten the bolt on top with a hexagon 6

After installation, check the steering column for play. It shouldn't be!

Installing the front wheel

Pick up the eccentric that you took out in a separately lying bag / box.

If there is no eccentric, this means that the wheel, on your bike, is attached with nuts. Then you need a wrench or socket for 15, or a pedal wrench.

Insert the eccentric into the bushing as shown in Fig2. The eccentric lever must be on the left side of the wheel in the direction of travel ( in the photo, the eccentric lever is specially shown on the other side, for clarity). Then install the wheel on the seats in the fork.

For owners of bicycles with disc brakes: carefully look at the brake disc, it should fit exactly between the pads

Then turn the eccentric clockwise and tighten until it is parallel to the fork. Fig 4

Saddle installation

Take in hand seatpost, a hexagon for 6 and the saddle itself.
Loosen the fasteners on the pin with a hex key without unscrewing the bolt completely.

Place the stud attachments on the frames under the saddle as shown below.

How to assemble a saddle

After tightening, install it in the hole in the seat tube of the frame. Adjust the slope and tighten it completely.
important Important! The correct position is when the surface of the saddle is parallel to the surface of the earth.

Wing installation

The rear fender is attached to the seatpost of the bike. It is possible that the wings can be mounted directly on the frame.

The front fender is also fixed in two ways:

  • installation under the fork (rests against the walls of the fork stem),
  • on the traverse (gorilla) of the fork.
As I mentioned above, do not tear the package. It briefly but quite clearly provides information on assembling the wings.

First, separate the set. Let's start with the front fender.

Cut the elastic bands. These elastic bands will be attached to the fork stem, resting against the walls. They will not let the wing jump off its seat.

Pick up the rubber bands with a large diameter (4) and (5), the mounting bracket (3) and the long one (6). We put on the rubber bands and fix them with a nut (7) as shown in the figure below. Elastic bands with a smaller diameter are included in the package of this wing, for installation in snares of a smaller diameter. You can just set them aside or throw them away.

We get an almost finished design.
We fix the wings on the mounting bracket.

We install the finished front fender on the bike.

Now on to assembling the rear wing. The rear wing is much easier to assemble. We act in the same way. We lay out everything in order. The photo is quite clear what and where is attached.

The rear fender is attached to the seat post. Don't forget to install the rubber spacer between the fender mount and the seatpost.

Wing tilt adjustable with plastic nuts

Loosen the nut completely to get the right angle. The mount requires gentle handling, so if the wing won't go down or up, don't push too hard or you could break it.

Installing the pedals

The bike comes with two pedals. Each pedal is labeled which is left and which is right. Most often you will see letters on the pedal axle: L for left and R for right.

The pedals have different threads. The right pedal is screwed clockwise, the left - counterclockwise

To fully fix the pedals, you will definitely need a pedal wrench for 15.

Wheel inflation

Pump up the cameras. Working pressure is indicated on the tires. For a mountain bike, usually 2.8-4.5 bar. If the pump is without a pressure gauge, then inflate the wheels to your weight so that when landing on a bicycle, the tire does not collapse by more than 20% of the height.

The correct level of pressure in the chamber depends a) Your safety b) The ease of movement of the bike c) The durability of the wheels

Congratulations!

You have assembled your new iron friend! Now we advise you to stretch each bolt and you can go for a ride.

A man would like to order his first bike from an online store, but he is afraid that he will not have the skills to assemble it out of the box. The situation is vital, many beginners prefer to buy a bike in a regular store, where the prices are higher and the choice is limited, but nothing needs to be assembled and configured.

With this note, I want to convey the idea that the process of assembling a bike out of the box is so simple that it will take no more than half an hour, even for a person who is far from cycling.

Good news for beginners: the bike does not come as a set of parts in a box, but already 80% assembled. After doing some simple unpacking, you will see something like this:

The rear wheel, brakes, chain and derailleurs are all set and ready to go, all you have to do is screw on the handlebars, mount the front wheel and insert the seat post and saddle.

Nothing special, the kit always comes with several hex keys of the right size. However, I strongly advise you to get a basic bicycle set that will come in handy in the future.

I began to describe the process, but then I realized that this is exactly the case when it is better to see with my own eyes.

Video how to assemble a new bike out of the box

Everything is very simple, you can go for a ride.

Does a new bike need maintenance after purchase?

Bikes are assembled at the factory on an automatic line, and in general, all mechanisms are tuned and do not require special maintenance or adjustment. It just needs some tweaking, so to speak.

brakes

The video above shows how to adjust the disc brakes - you need to loosen the bolts securing the caliper, clamp the brake lever, and without releasing it, tighten the bolts.

If your bike is equipped with vibration breaks, then watch the video on how to set them up:

Gear shift

Most of the time, switches come factory set, but sometimes they need to be adjusted, this is also a simple process, I described it in these articles:

Chain

As a rule, it is not necessary to lubricate the chain on a new bike, because it is still in factory lubrication, which lasts for the first 100 kilometers. But then be sure to buy a special bicycle chain lubricant and lubricate every 100-150 km (mileage depends on the type of lubricant).

wheels

Inflate the tires (the minimum and maximum pressure is written on the sidewall of the tire), read the note in more detail about how this affects rolling and wear.

The spokes in the new wheel "sit down" in their seats when the load begins to act on them, and the tension weakens, which can lead to breakage of the spokes or eights. I advise after the first 100 kilometers to give the bike to the spokes broaching workshop.

The bike is ready for battle - you can go for a ride. In conclusion, I would recommend getting the necessary accessories as soon as possible: helmet, taillight, spare camera, mounting blades - read my note on

  • Assemble the bike out of the box, its setup, prevention, lubrication - from 450 rubles to 1.900 rubles . **
  • The cost of assembling a bicycle to order - from 2,000 to 10,000 rubles. ***
  • You can assemble at home or in our bicycle workshop.
NS Bike assembly (BEFORE) NS Bike assembled (After assembly)

** people buy different bikes, and I provide assembly services for any newly purchased bikes. If necessary, I can come to your home for assembly. The cost of assembling and tuning the bike, and how long it will take, will depend on the type of bike, its "complexity", "tricks".

*** Some collect quite simple bikes, others assemble real "monsters" at a cost close to good "BU" cars and, accordingly, the complexity and labor costs in assembly are completely different here. Assembling a bike to order is a whole epic J. Initially, a frame is selected, then components are selected in accordance with the frame, and frames and components have completely different standards, and what can fit on one bike is completely unsuitable for another. Therefore, it is necessary to select components wisely and with knowledge of modern standards in the bicycle industry.

Bicycle assembly in Moscow (Bicycle workshop)

The price for assembling a bike out of the box is from 600 to 2500 rubles, the cost directly depends on the "coolness" of your new bike and the complexity of assembling it, I can assemble just one bike and set it up well in an hour, and complex and expensive bikes require two or even three hours of my attention.

Assembling a Bicycle is a process that requires a specialist in this field - a bicycle master, the presence of a certain set of tools, a tuning stand, etc ...

When it comes to assembling an inexpensive bike out of the box (up to 30 thousand rubles), then usually the price includes installing wheels, pedals, seat handlebars, etc. ... and a complete setup of everything (brakes, gear shifting, wheel inflation, suspension tuning). Next is prevention with diagnostics, I check each bike assembly after assembly, how it works and check if everything is well lubricated and set up.

If you need to assemble a bike out of the box and you live in Moscow, call us and we will discuss everything. If necessary, assembly can be carried out at your home, this service is negotiated separately.

Bicycle assembly to order.

It is also possible to assemble the Bicycle from separate components according to a specific customer requirement, the components are selected according to the compatibility (classification level) of individual components and the frame.

When assembling a bicycle from separately purchased components, the frame is taken initially, and all components are gradually purchased separately. There are many different classifications, standards and brand features, the frame can be steel, chrome-molybdenum, aluminum, carbon, there are also double-suspension frames with a rear shock absorber, the types of rear shock absorbers are hydraulic type (spring and air) The front fork (shock absorber) can be also different levels and pricing, and fork and frame standards are not always compatible and you need to know everything about it.

In our workshop, we will always help you figure it out.

The assembly process itself consists primarily in installing the fork, then the carriage assembly (chain damper), then the wheels (wheel assembly if necessary) and attachments, followed by its adjustment, all this can be done in our workshop, from the selection of spare parts to complete assembly and setting up your future bike.

Assembling a bike out of the box - the cost of services.

  • Prevention, including lubrication.
  • + It is possible for the master to come to your house for assembly, if necessary, this is discussed separately.

*** The cost of my services will depend on how fancy a bike you have bought. The price includes a full range of services, so that you get a ready-made bike and immediately go to ride it. In some cases, additional expenses may be required, but this is very rare, in cases of setup and the need for primary maintenance of the equipment of a new bike, for example, the rear brakes of the bike you bought are not pumped.

Assembling a bike from a box at home

If it is more convenient for you, the assembly of the bike is possible at your home, for this you need to call me and agree on a time, the departure of the master is paid separately. Call me, name the model of the bike, and I will announce the cost of assembly, if you want to assemble the bike from the box at home, be sure to specify this, and we will agree on the time.

  • Assembling the rear and front wheels of a bicycle. I also provide services for the assembly of wheels, front and rear. If you need to assemble a wheel, then I will help you and select the necessary components for assembling the rear wheel - spokes, nipples, rim, bushing. At the same time, the sizes of the spokes, nipples, bushings are different and you need to choose everything exactly so as not to buy too much. Building a mountain bike out of the box

  • From 600 to 3000 rubles - assembling a mountain bike out of the box.

The cost of the services of a bicycle master for assembling a mountain bike out of the box usually varies from 600 rubles to 3000 rubles, depending on the complexity of the bike, assembly takes from one to three hours, and it all depends on which bike you have purchased.

If a long-awaited mountain bike has arrived in a box, then it will still need to be assembled, configured, and adjusted, and the first preventive maintenance should be carried out. If necessary, I can assemble the bike at your home, i.e. it is possible for a bike master to come to your house, call us, and we will agree on everything!

  • Custom mountain bike assembly. This is already a more complex process, and a long, and sometimes even painful one, for example, the selection and coordination of the necessary parts can take days and weeks, and subject to the existence of various standards, classifications and types of fasteners \ bearings \ and sizes of various bicycle components, this procedure goes beyond difficult and such an assembly costs from 3000 rubles.

Despite the abundance of bikes in stores and the emergence of a popular service of bike assembly to order, self-assembly is still in demand among fans. Why is she so attractive?

Creating a fundamentally new, exclusive bike is a creative process, which consists in the selection of spare parts and checking their compliance with the desired parameters. And the assembly will allow you to accurately understand all the nodes of the bike and gain good experience in technical aspects.

Assembling a bike is a delicate and painstaking task. The difficulty lies not only in correct installation all components, but also in the selection of all spare parts.

The main requirement for them is quality, reliability and demand. Hardly at self assembly it comes to mind to put bad brakes or some unnecessary body kit, then it’s better to go blindfolded to the store. How to plan the work, what is needed for this and how, in fact, to assemble a bicycle, will be described later.

Drawing up requirements for the bike and a plan for its assembly

Before you collect the bike yourself, you will have to decide what should happen in the end. General bike options:

  • urban signalspeed;
  • road or sports bike;
  • mountain bike;
  • hybrids.

Based on the main types, we conclude where the bike is going to be used, what speed and running performance it should have, how comfortable it will be in riding. The last parameter is especially important, it is he who pushes the cyclist to assemble the bike with his own hands.

Where to get spare parts? They can either be purchased independently or ordered. In the first case, you will have to wander through the specialized departments for quite some time in search of every detail. The second option is simpler: pre-select a model, enter your wishes into it and place an order. Of course, it is much easier to assemble a bicycle out of the box, however, it will cost more.

Basic and mandatory structural elements for a new bike:

  1. The frame is the body of the bike. It determines the purpose of the bike, its weight, dimensions and behavior on the road.
  2. The fork is the attachment point of the front wheel and steering wheel to the frame. Forks can be either rigid or shock-absorbing, it all depends on the type of bike. Mountain bike equipped with a fork with a shock absorber, road and single speeds have a rigid version. The fork provides control of the bike.
  3. Steering wheel. The shape determines the comfort of control, fit and maneuverability. A huge range of handlebars pleases us with a variety of options: from absolutely straight to “lambs”, with and without a stem, adjustable and non-adjustable.
  4. Wheels. Their diameter affects the speed, amount of rolling, controllability. Tires, as an element of wheels, determine the dynamic performance, as well as the cross-country ability of the bike. Larger wheels will hold the speed better. They are sensitive to steering, but more prone to deformation. Tires, the thicker, the better they behave in off-road conditions and worse on smooth roads.
  5. and a crank-pedal pair. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the carriage assembly. It serves as an element for transmitting torque from the pedals to the drive star and then to the rear wheel. High-quality assembly of the bottom bracket and cranks is the key to a long ride in a wide variety of conditions.
  6. Cassette. This node is in speed bike. It consists of a set of rear and front sprockets. A switch and is connected to it.
  7. Saddle. It is fixed on, which is installed in the middle tube of the frame.
  8. Brakes. An easy and common option is v-brake. Disc brakes are more difficult to install, however, if the discs themselves are already installed on the wheels, then the installation process is much simpler. Finally, the brake in the rear hub requires no work at all other than connecting the wheel to the frame.

Bicycle working units (on the example of a hybrid)

Approximately in this sequence you will need to assemble the bike. In the work you will need tools: both ordinary keys and special devices.

Tools for work

The bottom bracket and cassette will require special tools, so let's talk about those first. To install the carriage, you will need a key called a puller. The knot is installed in the glass of the frame and then tightened with a wrench, then the connecting rods are mounted on the axle. For a square connection, you will need a connecting rod puller.

Attaching the bottom bracket and connecting rods to it is a rather troublesome business in terms of effort, since it is necessary to tighten it to the maximum. In the process of putting on the connecting rods, we make sure that one of them does not fly off, otherwise problems with periodic loss cannot be avoided later.

The cassette assembly is mounted on the rear wheel hub using a special cassette puller with a whip. Here you will also need maximum effort, the whip helps the stars not to turn when twisting.

Carriage (1) and cassette (2) pullers

Chain lock for link release and chain length adjustment. The squeeze allows you to disconnect the fastened chain anywhere. Chains, for the most part, do not have a special lock. If there is one, you can, in principle, do without squeeze. However, the chain may be too long, and this device is indispensable for removing extra links.

Circuit breaking device

Wrenches for attaching the saddle and wheels to the frame. The dimensions are selected according to the dimensions of the nuts. It is advisable to use ring wrenches. The adjustable adjustable version does not allow you to tighten the nut to the desired force, in addition, it can eat corners. It is best used for pre-rolling.

A torque wrench will be an excellent assistant during assembly. If the disassembled bike arrived in a complete set, assembly instructions will be attached to it. It will most likely contain the values \u200b\u200bof the optimal tightening torques.

In practice, these figures allow you to achieve the strongest twisting, and during operation, metal fatigue will be minimized. Also, compliance with the prescribed tightening torques will ensure the geometric integrity of all connections.

A set of screwdrivers and hex keys. These tools will be needed when installing handlebars, saddle, brakes, and canopies such as footpegs. Wire cutters are another useful tool. They are used for smooth cutting of cables. They will also need trailers and a braid.

Sequential assembly of bicycle components

At the first stage, we have a bare frame and all spare parts aside. We start by attaching to its frame. Installation is greatly simplified if the ball bearings have been placed on the fork stem beforehand.

Installing the bearing cone and cup yourself is quite problematic, you will need special equipment - a lever press. Hammering is allowed, but this must be done with the utmost care so as not to damage the fork stem itself and the walls of the head tube of the frame.

A ready-made version with a bearing assembly is preferable, here you only need to correctly insert the fork stem into the frame. It is easier to install if the frame lies down, that is, the stem enters the pipe horizontally. The right end of the head tube corresponds to the top. Holding the pipe with one hand, insert the body of the part into it with the other.

The lower and upper cones of the fork must exactly fit on the bearing balls. After that, a special washer and mustache are put on the stem, which must enter the hole in the fork rod. Using an open-end wrench or box wrench, the lock nut is tightened to the limit. The fork is ready.

A steering part is installed on top of the fork. It will be possible to correctly position the steering wheel when vertical position frames. The only inconvenience of inserting the part into the fork is the instability of the frame, so it is better to ask someone to hold the structure in advance. First, the steering wheel is tightened at half strength, then it is centered strictly in a straight direction and then it is twisted completely. You will probably need to hold the steering wheel.

Handlebar and fork on a bicycle frame

Saddle. First, the seat itself is attached to the seatpost. The shock absorber, if planned, is attached simultaneously with the seat, and not after it. The pin is lowered into the pipe and tightened with a nut (or a ready-made eccentric). Like the handlebar, the saddle needs to be centered in a straight direction.

The next stage is the installation of the carriage in the glass. Turn the frame upside down and install the carriage assembly. The finished body is inserted and fixed in the glass with a key. If the carriage is assembled from scratch with your own hands, then we carry out the following manipulations:

  • lubrication of the internal cavity of the body;
  • insertion of an axial part;
  • lubrication and installation of bearings;
  • fixing the carriage with a puller.

After the carriage, we take a short break and install the tires on the wheel rims. First on inner surface a flipper is put on - a protective rubber fabric from punctures of the chamber with the bases of the spokes. The flipper hole should line up with the nipple hole. A deflated chamber is carefully inserted into the rim, the nipple is threaded into the hole, and a tire is placed on top.

When installing a tire, it is necessary to follow the direction of the tread pattern. It must match the direction of the bike. Special mounts or plastic spatulas can help in installing tires. Do not forget to pump up the chambers to the desired pressure!

A cassette is put on the rear wheel hub. Its upper stars are in a free state, therefore, when inserting a node, we do not turn it over so as not to lose any asterisk. The cassette is mounted on the side of the leading front star (stars) and is tightened with force by a puller.

When working, it is necessary to hold the wheel, and also use a whip to fix the stars of the cassette. After installing it, a chain is thrown over the large star, the rear wheel is inserted into the dropouts, and the other end of the chain is pulled to the front stars. With the help of a squeeze, the chain is fastened, and the wheel is twisted on the dropouts. By analogy, we put the front wheel on the fork.

Working with carriage and cassette in pictures

The cassette is connected to the speed switch. If the bike also has a front derailleur, then, accordingly, it is connected to the chainring system. Through the cables, shifters are connected to them, which are mounted on the steering wheel. Cables with the help of clamps are neatly fixed on the frame pipes.

Assemble and install V-brakes:

  • put the claws of the front and rear brakes on the steering wheel;
  • attach the pads to the clamping mechanism;
  • release the brakes and fasten to the fork and the rear of the frame, respectively;
  • connect the claws and clamping mechanisms using cables;
  • adjust the length of the cables and the position of the blocks.

Details on adjusting V-brakes:

The new assembled bike is ready for test rides. Testing is a mandatory procedure after assembly, which will show where and what needs to be fixed. Particular attention should be paid to the build quality of the fork and handlebar, bottom bracket and brakes. We also check how accurately the gears shift, whether the chain jumps off.

Assembling a bike is fun, rewarding, and, as it turns out, not too long. A self-made bike will allow you to feel comfortable on trips, it is fully maintainable, unpretentious and has the required running parameters.
