A seatpost is a part of a bicycle that serves as the connection between the saddle and the frame of the bicycle. What should be the length of the seatpost?

The length of the seatpost should be at least 30 cm. Most modern bicycles use pipes 30-40 cm long. On some models of economy class bikes, very short seatposts (up to 15 cm) are used. This feature does not allow you to push the pipe higher and observe proper fit on a bike.

Checking the length of the seatpost when buying a bike is very easy. You just need to open the eccentric (lamb), which is located at the base of the pipe, and slightly pull the tube up. If this part is short, it will easily slip out; if it is long, it will drag slowly and require effort.

Determining the right seatpost length for a particular bike is easy. To do this, it must be extended to the maximum possible mark, which is indicated by a long white dash. After this procedure, you must sit on the bike. If the legs do not touch the asphalt during the draft, but reach the pedals at the lowest point of their rotation, then the seat tube is long enough. If the lower limbs reach the asphalt, you need to change the device or bike.

What should be the diameter of the seat tube?

There are 3 main seat tube diameters for bicycles:

Steering wheel and stem
