Why is it not possible to catch crucian at the end of May. How to catch carp with a float rod - tips from anglers. Why don't large crucian peck at me at all

Hello dear friends. As you probably already understood from the title, the topic of today's article is catching crucian carp in May.

May is quite interesting in terms of catching peaceful fish, as for spinning and donkey, in most regions there is a spawning ban. Fishing for crucian carp is highly dependent on the reservoir, and can last almost the entire month of May.

Today we will consider all the nuances of May fishing, and find out where, at what time, and with what gear to fish at this time.

Where to look for carp in May

Heavy sinkers are not used due to the nature of the bottom. In most crucian ponds, the bottom is muddy, and the heavier the load, the farther from the leash you will have to hang it. Long leashes are also not needed when fishing without a current. A leash of 20-30 centimeters will be enough.

It is better to use a paternoster rig, since it is with its help that you can achieve maximum sensitivity and naturalness, here is an example:

If you don’t like paternoster, you can come up with something of your own, or read an article about, and choose something for yourself.

Baits for carp

In the spring, crucian carp prefers animal baits, you would have starved all winter. The main baits will be worm and maggot. The maggot is usually brought with you, but it is better to dig up the worm in the vicinity of the reservoir.

In May, crucian pecks at any worm, but he likes the one dug up near the reservoir where fishing is taking place. I was convinced of this more than once when, in the excitement of catching, I forgot to close the jar of worms.

For daytime fishing, you need to stock up on plant baits. The crucian carp, although hungry in the spring, remains the same fussy, and at one fine moment it may simply refuse to peck. In this case, you need to start picking up another bait.

For daytime fishing, you should take canned corn, semolina, steamed barley and dough.

If baits do not work, you can try different combinations, such as barley and worm, or corn and maggot.

Catching Tactics

Speaking about the tactics of catching crucian carp in May, there is nothing outstanding here, but still there is something to say.

float fishing

As I wrote above, fishing on a float should be near the shore. At the same time, having thrown the snap, you need to wait a while. Quite often, to activate the bite, it is worth moving the equipment, so the crucian carp will notice it faster. If things are really bad and there is no bite, you should change the depth.

If the result is not achieved again, it may be necessary to change the place. Remember, I said above that it is better to catch crucian carp from the leeward shore? So the situation can change dramatically. If the wind drives not warm, but cold water towards the shore, crucian carp will most likely stand on the opposite shore.

Closer to spawning, crucian carp move to more significant vegetation. It can be flooded bushes, reeds, or water lilies.

Bottom fishing

If your choice fell on a donk or feeder, then you are definitely going to fish during the day. It is important to remember that it is highly undesirable to measure the depth in May, although crucian carp are not afraid of thick woods, they are not used to noises yet, and extra casts will frighten them.

In this case, crucian carp should be looked for away from the shore. Most likely, closer to the middle of the pond, there is some kind of shallow, and it is very likely that crucian carp is there.

On sunny days, you can visually identify promising places. For example, with a light wind, ripples will be visible in the shallows. On sunny days, you can see where the crucian stands. If you see a fish, you don't need to throw it into a school, it is better to throw it 1-2 meters away from the school, and ideally, on the border of vegetation and clean water.

If there are no obvious shallows in the reservoir, and the depth is large, you need to pay attention to various snags in the reservoir. Driftwood is a natural hiding place, and quite often crucian carp are concentrated near them, feeling safe.

It’s not worth it to stand on ceremony when playing a crucian, since the fish takes the bait quite boldly, the probability of getting off is small. But the probability of a hook is very high, giving the crucian slack, you can lose the equipment, since the first thing the crucian will rush into the grass or under a snag.

Well, actually, all respected anglers. As you can see, catching carp is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Get out into nature, take more baits, and you will definitely catch a catch. If you have any questions, you can always ask them in the comments, well, as they say, no tail or scales for you, dear fishing enthusiasts!

What anglers need to know about fishing for crucian carp in May. There are several secrets of catching carp in May.

In May, it is more successful if you catch in shallow and open areas of the reservoir, crucian carp swims there to feed and bask in warm water.

The tactics of catching crucian carp in May, when the crucian is actively looking for food, differs from the summer tactics, when the angler finds a place and feeds, grafts and successfully catches the crucian from day to day - you need to look for the parking of the spring crucian.

Carp fishing in May

How and where to catch crucian carp in May, what kind of bait is better for catching crucian carp in May, what baits and tackle to use when fishing for crucian carp. These questions are asked in the spring by many novice anglers.

When to catch carp in May

In principle, carp fishing begins in early spring: carp fishing is good from mid-April, even better crucian pecks from the end of April - beginning of May. Take note that successful fishing crucian carp is possible as soon as the reservoir warms up enough to activate the fish. As a rule, in small reservoirs in the middle lane, the water warms up in May. Awakened carp actively explore the pond in search of food. In ponds, the presence of crucian carp can be recognized by the bubbles that rise to the surface - this crucian is in search of animal food among last year's plants and in shallow water. It is this time that is considered the most successful for catching crucian carp.

Where to catch carp in May

Carp fishing in May has many fans. To become one of them, you need to know a few conditions.

  • Firstly, when you choose a place for catching crucian carp, stop at small bodies of water- shallow places with a depth of up to one meter near thickets of reeds or cattails, where a flock of crucian carp are waiting for dragonfly larvae and other nymphs to emerge from the bottom soil, are optimal for catching crucian carp in May. Nearly ideal places for catching crucian carp in May, exits from narrow bays are recognized. The largest crucians are very fond of being near snags and tree branches that lie in the middle of the bay, at a depth of approximately 50-100 centimeters. Such places are ideal for catching carp in May in the morning and evening hours.
  • Secondly, going to catch carp in May pay attention to the weather. In May, large flocks of crucian carp are very reluctant to move across the area of the reservoir. If the weather is calm, the sun is very warm, then during the day you can see how crucian carp gather in flocks and begin to swim in the middle of the reservoir with a distance of at least 30 meters from the shore and at a depth of one meter from the very surface of the water.
  • Thirdly, if you go fishing for crucian carp in May, give up summer tactics, which are based on the fact that if you have already found a place, then you need to feed, graft and catch it every day, receiving only successful results. In the first days of May, crucian carp, if it reacts to bait, then only to the one that lies at its very nose. In May, you need to look for a carp camp very, very diligently. In the morning hours, even before sunrise, the crucian carp is often found in the coastal grass, thus betraying its place of residence.

What to catch carp in May

Spring fishing in May is good a priori - the fish in the warmed water is quite mobile and actively looking for food. The only question is what kind of bait to offer her. Catching crucian carp in May will require the angler to know the ABC of crucian baits, baits and baits.

How to feed carp in May

After choosing a fishing spot and preparing gear, you need to decide on bait. In late April - early May, while the water is cold, dry ingredients in bait should be a minimum amount, they should not be very odorous and they should be crushed as much as possible. These are wheat and corn crackers, crushed oatmeal, crushed wheat bran, a small amount of rye crackers and a little fresh cake.

Where there is no small perch and rotan, in bait add a small bloodworm or chopped worm, but the largest part of the bait should be coastal soil taken from under the sod. Its amount can be from 50 to 80% of the total volume of bait. The spring coastal soil smells like a worm, and it contains a large amount of organic substances that will attract crucian carp with their smell, or at least not scare them away. Such bait, when it lies as a spot on the bottom, will differ quite a bit in color and smell from the surrounding soil, but this will be enough for crucian carp to approach it.

However, large carp can be suitable for bait for a long time, especially at the beginning of the season. open water when he is still lazy. But with enough patience, you can wait for a good bite. You should feed the place with a large amount of bait once at the beginning of fishing. During the day, supplementary feeding is allowed in very small portions. A very simple, but effective bait, designed for feeding in a meager volume - oatmeal moistened with water.

As long as the spring shore soil is damp enough, the bait can be mixed without adding water. Then the feed ball can be easily thrown to the fishing point for a short distance, and after hitting the water it will immediately crumble, allowing the feed particles to slowly sink to the bottom, spreading the smell.

Later, when the water in the reservoir warms up to a temperature of more than +13 ° C, you can increase the amount and composition of dry ingredients in the bait. However, no cereals should be included in the bait. The crucian carp is used to feeding on bottom organic sediments, and the porridge will quickly saturate it. The amount of soil in mid-late May can be reduced to 50-60% of the total bait.

The composition of the dry mix now, in addition to crushed wheat, corn and rye crackers, may include crushed fresh and lightly toasted hemp seeds, milk powder, egg powder, cocoa powder, but each part taken should be no more than 5% of the total bait.

It must also be remembered that the bait should be loose, and the ball should be barely molded so that when it hits the surface of the water, it immediately breaks up into small particles. Therefore, we add water in small doses and all the time we check how the ball is molded.

Accordingly, how much active bleak or other small fish is in the reservoir, you can experiment with the speed of the bait settling to the bottom, including more or less crushed crackers in it. Just like at the beginning of spring, in the warmer period of May, only one starting feeding of the fishing place is done and then they wait for the carp to approach.

If desired, flavors and essences can be varied in warm spring water, but it is better to prepare several places for such experiments, since in case of unsuccessful experiments, crucian carp can move away completely and for a long time. In general, with the inclusion of aromatic additives, you need to be careful, do not use the entire volume of bait, but only a small part of it. Usually, essential oils and fruit essences are added in an amount of no more than 1-2 drops per 0.5 kg of bait.

What does crucian peck at in May

Biting crucian in May quite stable, except for the spawning period. We remind you of the need to follow the rules of fishing during the spawning ban. So, take note that for catching crucian carp in May and other warm months, you can use both animal bait and vegetable baits.

The baits of animal origin that crucian peck at include worms and larvae. Please note that it is especially good:

  • catching carp on a worm;
  • catching carp on bloodworms;
  • catching crucian on maggot;
  • catching carp for other varieties of worm (land).

Also, crucian bites perfectly, and, therefore, catching crucian carp in May on water insects gives a good result:

  • catching carp on a dragonfly larva;
  • catching carp on a small leech;
  • catching carp on other insects.

It should be noted that the active biting of the crucian on the worm is observed only in the spring. Crucian carp is a capricious fish, but still, from the baits of animal origin, it seems to me that crucian prefers maggot and bloodworm. On these nozzles, crucian carp are caught virtually all summer.

Catching crucian carp in May for maggots

In order for you to enjoy catching crucian carp on maggot in May, keep in mind that it is best to hook the whitish maggot larva across and closer to the head, then it will more actively lure fish with its natural movements. Pressed the hook must be left open. You need to store maggot in a container with heat exchange, for this an ordinary jar wrapped with a wet rag, as well as a freshly dug hole into which a vessel with maggot is placed, can be suitable, but with all this, it is necessary to choose a place to avoid direct sunlight. By the way, in order for the maggot to grow, it needs to be fed with egg white.

Catching crucian in May on bloodworms

Motyl is the beloved crucian bait. To catch crucian carp in May, it is best to use hooks number 2.5 - 3.5 on bloodworms, you can use one huge bloodworm larva or several small ones as a nozzle, but you need to put it over your head so that it hangs on the hook, so it stays alive for a long time and will hang on the hook firmly.

Catching carp in May for a sandwich

The method of catching carp on a sandwich is known to many. Large carp prefer to eat the so-called "sandwich", which consists of maggot larvae and a pair of bloodworm larvae. When using the method of catching carp on a sandwich, it was noticed that bites become more confident.

You can also combine baits for catching crucian carp - worm and maggot - and in this way: worms are planted across the body, and covered with one or 2 maggot larvae. This method when casting a fishing rod, it does not allow the worm to fly off the hook, because there are maggot larvae at the ends. Such a nozzle is traditionally bypassed by a trifle, because it is very large for him, and a large crucian carp, on the contrary, willingly grabs it.

The quality of biting crucian carp in May is affected by maggot - its smell, purity and method of breeding. The worst thing is maggot bred on fish, on the reservoir where you are going to catch.

Catching carp on the larva of a burdock moth

On some reservoirs, capricious crucian carp prefer to eat the larva of the burdock moth or for a duet of the larva and bloodworm. In order for the larva to be the most attractive and better kept on the hook, it must be bleached. To do this, you need to take a piece of gauze, place the burdock moth larvae in it and dip the gauze with the larvae in boiling water for a few seconds. The burdock moth larvae remaining after fishing, which have undergone heat treatment, can be stored in the refrigerator for 14 days.

Catching crucian on a fly and a grasshopper

On hot summer days, you can use a housefly or small grasshoppers as a nozzle for catching crucian carp. Using the same bait, you can count on the catch of medium carp. For a housefly to be used as bait for catching crucian carp, you need to tear off the wings. In some areas, crucian carp prefer to peck at mealworms, bark beetle larvae, and occasionally even wasp larvae.

Catching crucian carp in May on vegetable baits

Together with animal bait, many anglers use vegetable baits for catching crucian carp in May, such as bread pellets, cake, pasta, pieces of pancakes, semolina and other cereals, cut into small pieces or steamed grains and cereals. Since crucian carp is an extremely fastidious fish, some anglers use various combined feeds, which can include both bread and potatoes, as well as other things.

The most common and affordable vegetable bait is a bread spool, every boy will be able to roll it into a hard ball and moisten it with water, so there will be a ready-made bait, but experienced anglers will do it better by using it for a bait additional additives and oils.

The crucian carp is extremely well attracted by the smell and taste of honey gingerbread, but the gingerbread crumbles and it is unrealistic to catch on it. However, if you grind it into flour and add it to the bread crumb, you get a bread pellet with the smell of honey gingerbread. Such a nozzle must be less than the nail of the little finger. And pressed the hook to be disguised.

Tackle for catching crucian carp in May

Standard tackle for catching crucian carp in May looks like normal float rod about 6 meters long. It will be better if the rod is plug-in, as you will have to catch light equipment in the immediate vicinity of herbal plants or bushes.

A plug-in rod will allow you to silently and absolutely accurately place the bait at the point we need, and after the very capture of the fish, it will allow you to easily deal with it with the help of shock absorbers. The plug rod is also convenient in that when you change places, you will not need to change equipment, you just have to remove or add a rod knee so that you can fish close or far from the coast.

The rod for catching crucian carp in May must be equipped with fishing line with a diameter of 0.14-0.16 mm with tensile strength up to 3 kg. This is necessary in order to fight against large crucian carp strong at this time in a possibly limited space. There is no point in using a leash the following reasons: the depth of fishing will probably be even less than 1 m; the knot at the junction of the fishing line with the occasion can catch on any of the obstacles.

Hook for catching carp in May must be large enough № 10 , because the mouth of a large crucian is also not small, and a worm can be a bait.

Catching crucian carp in May - playing crucian

After cutting, the crucian behaves very actively. But about the pleasure of playing experienced fishermen know firsthand. When the rod is bent into an arc, and the line is ringing with a string - it's nice. It is necessary not to allow the crucian to move freely on the hook, but rather to let it get tired so much that it is possible to force the fight. To do this, for each jerk of the fish, you should sip the rod towards yourself in response. After the crucian comes to the surface, it is worth carefully bringing it into the landing net. After placing the fish in the landing net, you can be satisfied - you did everything right. Often, good carps swim next to large crucians. Therefore, when fishing, you should be extremely careful.

May is a beautiful spring month, when catching such fish as crucian carp is the most best time of the year. When the sun has already warmed the water enough, crucian fishing is available to both experienced and novice anglers. To many adherents fishing it is known that such large crucians, which are caught in the month of May, are very difficult to find at other times of the year. This is due to the fact that this fish begins to feed mainly in warm water bodies, warmed up to 14 -15 degrees Celsius. In addition, crucian carp have become very hungry during the winter, and will look for food in places where last year's aquatic vegetation can still be found: the depth of such feeding places for crucian carp does not exceed one meter.

The peculiarities of catching the above-named fish also include weather conditions and high activity of fish. In May, some individuals either finished spawning, or are just about to do so. In this regard, the number of crucian carp is large, and the probability of catching this species is quite high.

An important role in catching carp is played by bait, which should be of soft colors, similar to marsh color. You can use ready-made bait offered by specialized stores. It is necessary to take into account the behavior and character of the crucian, which may be different. In different reservoirs, crucian behaves differently; somewhere this fish prefers strong-smelling "food", in another place - crucian carp likes the smell of candy. It's good to do some reconnaissance.

Regarding baits, anglers agree that the May crucian prefers "food" of animal origin, such as bloodworms, maggots and worms, or a sandwich of the listed baits. The addition of vegetarian ingredients will not hurt: cereals from pearl barley and semolina, bakery products (unsweetened). The main gear includes float fishing rods, feeder and bottom gear.

When catching carp on float rod , in addition to the baits already mentioned, it would be useful to flavor them with a flavor that perfectly lure fish. For example, heart "human" drops, strongly smelling "Asterisk", all kinds of food seasonings, honey. If you don’t feel sorry for the money to catch your favorite crucian carp, buy shrimp at the grocery store, or deep-fry potatoes. It is necessary to feed the place of fishing, but if you have not spared money for shrimp, then it will not be difficult to buy a ready-made bait mixture. Moreover, store-bought baits begin to act after 15 minutes.

A float rod works well only if it is properly equipped. It is better to choose fly rods. Moreover, the length of the fishing line and rod should be the same. The most optimal rod length is 4.1 m. A rubber shock absorber can be added to the usual deaf mount for catching small and medium carp. It will increase your chances several times in case of playing a large crucian on a very thin leash. The leader line is selected with a diameter of up to 0.1, and the main line is 0.14 millimeters. The main requirement for hooks when catching May carp is their sharpness. Sizes - can vary from 18 to 24 numbers. The handguard should be short, but the size is directly dependent on the weight and size of the bait.

We will not go into details about choosing a float for small carp. If the weight of the fish is more than 250 g, then the float must be chosen from 3 to 15 grams, if the equipment is heavy, then a 30-gram float is better suited, it is also suitable for strong currents. The design of the float should not scare away the fish. Choose more compact and calm tones.

The most common way to catch carp is feeder tackle. Once you try it, you will no longer be able to fish with any other bottom gear or rod. Fishing on a feeder is very exciting and reckless. This is an opportunity to catch the largest fish, fight with it, experiment with baits and baits. This is an opportunity to cast a few feeders and enjoy fishing to your heart's content.

Without going into details, we can say that there are a lot of installation methods for the feeder. But best of all, if you do not have a lot of experience in fishing, it is best to choose the classic option. The bait should be of an elastic consistency, not crumble. To avoid this, liquids must be added to the mixture. If you use a flavoring agent, then it is more advisable to add it not to the bait itself, but to the water that you will use to wet the mixture. Another option for bait is store-bought, light colors, which are clearly visible in a cloudy reservoir. These include "sensans" with different smells (corn, corn and hemp, strawberry). "SensansAromix" added to others since it is in a liquid state and acts as a humectant. The rest are mixed with each other. After keeping the bait for half an hour, it is considered ready. With the use of a feeder, maggots, sandwiches, bloodworms and worms are used as bait. In order for the hooking to be of high quality and increase your chances, the bait must be set in such a way that the sting looks slightly out.

The third most popular use is donka. Moreover, this tackle can be caught in summer period, and autumn. Winter fishing bottom tackle involves open water. Fishing with the use of "rubber" - a rubber shock absorber gives very high results, and the use of certain tricks will increase your chances several times. Bottom fishing for crucian involves long casts and I catch carp from the bottom of the reservoir. This makes it possible to catch large individuals and at a great distance. The secret of the high performance of carp fishing is also the alternation of nozzles, the use of "sandwiches" in any combination. Such experiments with bait will give you the opportunity to identify the food preferences of crucian carp in a particular reservoir.

May is the most interesting month for catching large carp. In order for fishing to be successful, you need to be able not only to find the right place, but also to choose the reservoir in which crucian carp this moment feeding most actively. The number of effective bites will ensure the correct preparation of gear, a wide range of nozzles and the right bait.

The biting of crucian carp in the spring varies from year to year and depends on the number of warm sunny days. It happened that in some shallow ponds, lakes, forest shallow checks of high intensity, biting occurred already in the third decade of April. So, a couple of years ago at this time I had a chance to visit forest peat checks near the village of Polubarskoye, where one could easily catch a couple of dozen heavy crucians with one float rod.

These forest reservoirs are located in the Sergiev Posad district of the Moscow region. They are characterized by a wide, well-blown water area, a small, quickly warmed up (especially with a constantly blowing warm wind) depth, a peaty-sandy bottom and a spotted snag. All this creates good conditions for the early manifestation of feeding activity of crucian carp. In the Moscow region there are many other reservoirs with early activity of crucian carp.

In general, crucian carp begins to take earlier on those ponds where it does not have a very rich food supply and shallow depths prevail. Often in such reservoirs, crucian bites can be seen even when fishing on last ice. Moving in search of food and not finding it in sufficient quantities, crucian carp approaches bait, intended for as yet cold water. Such a trend in cold spring can be observed in the first half of May.

If the spring is consistently warm, then at the end of April-May, after one to two weeks good fishing there may be a significant deterioration in the bite. This is due to the fact that with the rapid onset of heat in the water column, phyto- and zooplankton begin to develop rapidly, this worsens the quality of the water and reduces the metabolic processes in the body of the fish.

250 kg of fish for 1 fishing trip

Detained poachers told the secret of their success for a good bite. The fish inspectors were so surprised by the lack of poaching equipment...

So, in the spring it is better to go to those crucian reservoirs that have vast, well-blown shallow water areas. On them, with constant warm spring winds, the water mixes well and becomes almost uniform in temperature at depths of 0.5–1 m. Here you need to look for places where crucian carp come out. At the same time, the peak of biting should be expected on those days when, after the cold spring period, the sun begins to intensively warm the water.

It should be taken into account that spring rain can also contribute to warming of water in shallow water areas. With frequent spring rains, a good bite of crucian carp is usually observed in the upper reaches of the pond, where the water of the tributaries warmed by the rains flows. At the same time, it should be taken into account that in forest dams in the upper part of the water area (closer to the main inflow), the water can be very cold even in May, because snow melts in the forest longer than in open areas and the incoming melt water will cool the reservoir. This is especially true of forest lakes and dams located to the north of Moscow.

But, fortunately, most ponds middle lane Russia settled in not too forested areas, so their water area closest to the main tributary in spring can be promising for fishing, especially if it is characterized by the presence of shallow water approaching reeds on one side and channel depths on the other.

It is good when there are areas of sparse snags and flooded coastal vegetation in the upper reaches of the pond. In such backwaters, crucian carp gradually begin to accumulate in spring. Going out to the reeds on warm days, it moves along the edge of vegetation and clear water in search of food and always has the opportunity to hide from a predator.

When fishing in spring, you always need to very clearly determine the place of fishing, wait for bites, and then feed, otherwise the bait will not work.

It is better to take a fly rod. In the spring, fishing conditions can be different, and although crucian carp stay closer to the shore, in search of places for its exit, they cast either closer or further. Sometimes you have to cast along the coast because of its poor passability or fearfulness big fish. In this regard, the length of the rod is 5–6 m, less often 7 m. The length of the fishing line when fishing in calm weather is slightly longer than the length of the rod. For fishing in windy weather, the line is made 0.5 m shorter than the rod, then the equipment is easier to cast.

While the water is still not warm enough, the crucian carp does not take the nozzle, which is somewhat mobile, so the equipment must be made in such a way that the influence of wind or current is not transmitted to the hook through it. At the same time, crucian carp are hungry in the spring, so their bites are more confident. With all this in mind, I make the spring rig a little heavier than the summer rig. Heavy equipment allows the float, and, accordingly, the entire lower equipment, to be more stable in heavy seas.

In calm weather, I use floats with an elongated body and a short keel, with a carrying capacity of 1.5–3 g. In equipment, I use one main sinker and a lower weight. The hook with the nozzle should be located in a suspended state close to the bottom. With a light breeze, when the equipment drags a little, I put the shepherd with a leash to the bottom.

This allows for braking. If there is not enough mass of the shedding for braking, I add one more shedding to the leash or put a rig with a heavier shedding (for example, I change a shedding weighing 0.01-0.02 g for a shedding weighing 0.1 g). However, in spring the greatest feeding activity of large carp is often observed in very windy weather. This is especially characteristic of the daytime, when waves increase in wide shallow waters and a strong surface current is created.

In this case, I use a float with a long heavy keel and put a heavier main sinker with a heavier undersheath. If braking is needed, you can install an additional sinker near the junction of the leash and the main line. With bottom braking, the float will rise. It must be loaded under the antenna by placing a sinker of the appropriate weight next to the main load.

In addition, one should not forget that braking of the equipment in the wind current at a depth of up to 1 m can be easily achieved by adding one small lead pellet to the fishing line above the float. Due to this, the fishing line will sink to the bottom, and it will not be dragged.

After choosing a fishing spot and preparing gear, you need to decide on bait. In late April - early May, while the water is cold, there should be a minimum amount of dry ingredients in the bait, they should not be very odorous and they should be crushed as much as possible. Usually, essential oils and fruit essences are added in an amount of no more than 1–2 drops per 0.5 kg of bait.

Bait

In late April - early May, while the water is cold, bloodworms, maggots, a “sandwich” of a bloodworm with maggots, a larva of a bark beetle, a caddisfly, and from vegetable nozzles - semolina talker (raw or boiled potatoes), oatmeal, a pellet of white or rye bread , dough.

The worm (dung, leafworm, earthworm) can work successfully throughout May. Crucian is well suited to its smell, especially when night fishing. By the way, with a significant warming of the water at night, large crucian begins to take.

You should always have an assortment of nozzles on hand and experiment with them. Later, when small fish begin to show too much feeding activity in well-heated water, which quickly knocks down bloodworms or other delicate baits, large baits will be used: steamed barley grains, pickled corn, steamed barley, etc.

In some areas, crucian carp prefer certain baits. In many reservoirs, it responds better when you knead finely ground and pre-roasted fresh sunflower seeds into dough or mashed crumb of white bread.

You can also experiment with the smell of a bait designed for fishing in late May warm water, for example, by adding garlic or dill extract, sunflower oil, cocoa, anise.

Carp fishing in May always creates good mood subject to the right approach to fishing and generally to outdoor recreation. In my opinion, it is made up of a thousand little things, including contemplation of pristine, litter-free shores.

Carp can be found in almost all water bodies of our country, it lives both in big rivers and lakes, as well as small rivers, ponds and even small streams. Therefore, crucian carp is especially popular with fishermen, it is caught in summer, spring, autumn, and even in some reservoirs crucian carp is well caught in winter. Therefore, with the advent of spring, as soon as big water decreases, many fishermen go fishing precisely in the hope of catching crucian carp. Today in the article we will analyze the main aspects of catching carp at the end of the month of April and at the beginning of May.

Usually crucian begins to spawn at the end of May, and the period before spawning is characterized by increased activity of crucian carp, at this time he eats a lot and moves around the pond in search of the optimal place for spawning.

In spring, when the water at a depth and far from the coast is quite cold, the bulk of crucian carp is not far from the coast, where the water is much warmer, lighter and where there will be a lot of food for it. The crucian feeds from the bottom, various inhabitants of this very bottom, and the crucian does not refuse fresh algae, which are just beginning to sprout.

In late April, early May, crucian carp should be looked for in places with shallow depths, often the bottom of these places will be covered with algae, on which crucian subsequently spawns. Also, crucian carp in the spring can be found in the reeds or near, on the border of the reeds and clean water, do not forget about the bark sections of the reservoir, there will also be a lot of crucian carp.

They catch crucian carp in April and May in different ways, the most successful and popular is catching carp with a regular float rod, since crucian carp is not far from the shore and the tackle is thrown close, also in some cases, when conditions do not allow using a float rod, for fishing crucian carp use donka or the so-called snack.

Tackle for catching crucian carp should be light, fishing line should not be large diameter 0.18 mm is the maximum diameter. Hooks are used below the average size, since the crucian always swallows the bait very carefully, a large hook can frighten it away, and it will swallow a small hook and not even notice.

The main nozzle for catching crucian carp in April and early May will be the usual muckworm or maggot, vegetable bait, crucian does not want to take it yet, on vegetable bait, a good bite of crucian carp will begin after its spawning.

Often, when catching crucian carp in the spring, fishermen use bait, it can significantly increase the catch. But you need to feed carefully so as not to overfeed him. Usually, bran and chopped worm are used as bait, all this should be mixed with the bottom soil so that the bait does not get out of the general view.

They usually feed carp in the following way, when they arrive at the place, first of all they throw 2-3 balls of bait into the place of casting, then they slowly take apart the gear, and after 20 minutes the crucian should already be near your fishing spot where you baited. And then every hour - one and a half, they throw in small portions of bait so that the crucian continues to be interested.
