The history of the emergence and development of beach volleyball

Beach volleyball originated in the early 1920s on the beaches of California (USA). In 1927, beach volleyball was introduced to Europe, first in France and then in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and Latvia.

The first official beach volleyball tournament was held in the United States in 1947, after which the game began to gain popularity and almost equaled surfing.

The California Beach Volleyball Association was formed in 1965 and developed the first beach volleyball rules. In 1983, the Association of Professional Volleyball Players (AVP) was formed.

In 1986, beach volleyball received the status international type sports, and in 1987 in Rio de Janeiro the first, not yet official, world championship was held. The first official championship was held only in 1997 in Los Angeles.

In 1996, beach volleyball made its debut on Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA).

Beach volleyball rules (briefly)

Consider briefly the rules of the game of beach volleyball. Immediately make a reservation that the rules in beach volleyball are the same for men and women. Teams in beach volleyball consist of two people, if one of the players is injured and cannot continue the game, then this team is considered defeated.

Teams play the serve in turn, with the first team serving until they forfeit the right to serve due to a loss of a point or an error. After the team plays the serve again, another player serves, etc.

A beach volleyball match consists of two games, the score of which goes up to 21 points. If the game reaches the third set, then the score is kept up to 15 points. To win in each of the games, a score difference of at least two points is required. Teams switch sides more often than in normal volleyball. Sides are changed after every seven points in the first two sets, and every five points in the third.

Rules for receiving the ball: in beach volleyball, the ball can be hit with any part of the body, but players of the same team can touch the ball no more than three times, after which they must return it to the side of the enemy.

Players receive warnings for rule violations or inappropriate behavior ( yellow card), remarks (red card), removal (red and yellow card at the same time, means defeat in the game) or disqualification (red and yellow card at the same time in different hands, means defeat in the match).

Beach volleyball court

The beach volleyball court measures 16 meters long and 8 meters wide. The site is covered with sand to a depth of at least 40 cm and is divided into two equal parts by a grid. The net in the men's beach volleyball is at a height of 2.43 meters, and in the women's at a height of 2.24 meters.

The marking of the volleyball court is carried out using 5 cm tapes, which are fastened with metal pegs or special wooden discs.

Outfit and equipment for beach volleyball

The beach volleyball is slightly larger than its classic counterpart (66-68 cm), and the pressure in it, on the contrary, is less. The ball must be brightly colored.

Beach volleyball equipment consists of shorts or bathing suits, without any shoes on the feet.

Refereeing

Refereeing in beach volleyball is carried out with the help of two main referees, one of whom (the first) ensures that technique during the game were performed in accordance with the rules. He can also correct the decisions of the second referee.

The second referee watches the play at the net and at middle line, as well as the behavior of coaches and substitutes, provides comprehensive assistance to the first referee. In addition to the main judges, there are line judges on the field.

Beach volleyball, despite the status of a professional sport, is very popular among amateurs. active rest.

About beach volleyball

Today, beach volleyball (also called beach volleyball) is not only a professional and commercial sport, but also one of the popular outdoor activities. Originating as a variety classic volleyball Beach volleyball has become a sport in its own right. Despite the similarities between these two sports, there are significant differences between them.

Athletes playing beach volleyball, in addition to the traditional jumping ability for volleyball players, good reaction, strong serve and feeling of the ball, must have a number of other qualities:

Athleticism (playing on viscous sand requires athletes to have excellent physical fitness)

Endurance (the game takes place in all weather conditions, and substitutions during the match are not provided)

Universalism (a team in beach volleyball consists of only two people, and the players do not have a clear division by role)

Beach volleyball is a unique sport, its players are often referred to as "one big family". The practically unchanged composition of participants in professional competitions and a busy calendar of games leads to the fact that they spend most of their time together - on planes, airports and hotels. Often volleyball players from different countries can be connected not only by friendship, but also, for example, by a common coach. Therefore, during matches, the players of the opposing teams invariably exchange friendly handshakes and try to cheer each other up, but of course, all this does not affect the desire of each team to snatch victory.

Rules of the game

In official competitions, beach volleyball is played by two teams, two people each and without substitutions. The game takes place on a sandy court (8 by 16 meters), divided by a grid (height for men - 2.43 m and for women - 2.24 m). The goal of the game is to get the ball to touch the court on the opponent's side and in turn to prevent the ball from falling on your own side. The ball can be hit with any part of the body.

The ball is put into play by the serving player. When the ball is on either side, the team may hit the ball three times in order to throw it to the opponent's half. Moreover, the player does not have the right to hit the ball twice in a row (except in cases of blocking or at the first touch).

The rally continues until the ball touches the court, goes out of bounds, or one of the teams makes a mistake. The team that wins the rally earns a point and the right to serve the ball. The serving players must change when the service is changed.

In beach volleyball, a match is played over 2 sets, and the team that wins 2 sets wins the match. And if after the first two games the score is 1:1, then the decisive third game is played. The game is considered won if one of the teams scores 21 points with a difference of 2 points. But if the score in the game is 20:20, then the game continues until the score reaches a difference of two points. If it comes to the third game, then the victory is awarded to the team that scored 15 points with a difference of 2 points. When the score is 14:14, the game continues until the score reaches a difference of two points.

As for the games of amateurs, here the rules can be anything, the main thing is to get a charge of good mood from the game!

Beach volleyball

The main requirement for a beach volleyball ball is that it must be waterproof, as playing on the beach requires it to regularly fall into the water. Most often, balls are made of elastic materials: synthetic leather, polyurethane or
polyvinyl chloride, sometimes genuine leather(such balls are more expensive and at the same time inferior to synthetic counterparts in a number of characteristics). The color for the ball is chosen in bright shades, often orange, yellow or white.

Balls used for international competitions under the auspices of the FIVB, have the following parameters:

Circumference: 66 - 68 cm.

Weight: 260 - 280 cm

Internal pressure: 171 - 221 Mbar or kPa (0.175 - 0.225 kg/cm2).

It is interesting

The world record for the power of the serve belongs to the Russian Igor Kolodinsky, the ball after his innings develops a speed of 114 km / h. Total for this moment There are only 6 players in the world whose serve speed exceeds 100 km/h.

Beach Volley is a spectacular and emotional game. This sport is loved in many countries, andUkraine is notexception.

Beach volleyball, or as it is also called beach volley, is almost 100 years old! The first playgrounds appeared in California in the 1920s. Palm trees, the ocean, surfing, speedboats, tanned girls in swimsuits - that was the entourage of the first games. And such a will-scourge, there, on the California coast, remains today. Only now these are not amateur games of amateurs, but very serious large-scale competitions in which the commercial component is not the last. Although, of course, no one forbids fans of this sport to warm up between and sunbathing in a sun lounger.

Very soon, in 1927, thanks to nudists, they learned about beach volleyball in France. Very quickly, interest in the game spread to other European countries: Latvia, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia.

After the Second World War, beach will becomes an official sport: uniform rules are developed, the first tournaments are held. The constant interest in the game, apart from, of course, the game itself, is fueled by the accompanying bright and spectacular surroundings, since the games are always accompanied by interesting events and always turn into real spectacular shows. Here and beauty contests, and various performances, and performances by artists.

The recognized leaders in beach volleyball are the USA and Brazil - the teams of these countries have won almost all world championships and Olympic tournaments.

Beach volleyball came to the USSR around the same time as perestroika. At the amateur level, this sport, of course, existed on one sixth of the land before, but the first official competitions took place in 1986. Today in Ukraine, this kind of sport is treated with great interest: tournaments of various scale and significance are not only traditional entertainment on the Black and Black coasts, they are organized even in those cities where, as they say, there is no smell of the sea.

Local residents of many Ukrainian cities believe that the city beach is enough for them to create a holiday. And to health! And beach volleyball, and with it the sun, water, air and just good mood provide an excellent synergistic effect and charge with vivacity and optimism for a long time.

Basic rules of beach volleyball

Wherever this game is played, in California or, say, in Kharkov, the rules are the same and inviolable everywhere, as, indeed, in any other sport. In whip-wills they are:

The game takes place on a sandy area divided by a high net. Two teams, each of which has two players, are on opposite sides of the net and throw the ball with their hands. The task of each team is to land the ball in the opponent's half and prevent it from falling on their side.

To win a match, you need to win two games. The game is played up to 21 points. This is followed by the third, decisive game, which is played up to 15 points. A score difference of at least two points is required to win. During the game, the team has the right to a 30-second time-out.

The basic principle of the game is that each draw is a point. In the event that the receiving side wins the rally, it receives a point and the right to serve the ball. When serving, the players alternate in this way: the first serves until the team loses the right to serve due to an error or loss of a point. The next time a team is given the right to serve, another player serves.

An interesting feature of beach volleyball that has become a rule is that you can hit the ball with any part of the body. Another feature that is also unique to beach volleyball is that the change of sides occurs more often here. This is the principle of justice, it is believed that teams should be equally dependent on external factors: wind, sun.

Substitution of players in beach volleyball is prohibited. If some force majeure occurs, for example, a player's disqualification, injury or refusal to continue the match, then the team is considered defeated. This sport also has a system of punishments: a yellow card - a warning, a red one - a remark that leads to the loss of a point, both in different hands at the same time - a defeat in the game, both in one hand - a defeat in the match. The coach can only watch the match from the stands.

The sports uniform of the players in this sport is probably more accessible than in any other: shorts or a bathing suit, athletes play barefoot. The ball in beach volleyball is slightly different from the classic one: its circumference is larger - 66-68 cm, and the pressure in it is less, the ball should be bright.

What should be a professional player

Just like a professional volleyball player, a beach volleyball player must be distinguished by special jumping ability, good reaction, strength and, of course, feel the ball. But besides this, additional requirements are put forward for him: athleticism, since when playing on the sand, the athlete has to jump and jerk more often; endurance, because the rules do not provide for the replacement of a player, and games meanwhile often take place in rather difficult conditions in the heat, during rain or in strong winds.

A beach volleyball player also needs some universalism. This is explained by the fact that the team in beach volleyball consists of only two people, and each of these two must be what is called "and the Swiss, and the reaper, and the dude at the game."

In the warm season, many are not averse to combining business with pleasure and running around under the scorching sun for the ball. Beach volleyball not only pleasantly diversifies a serene vacation on the coast, but also helps to compensate for barbecue and other high-calorie delicacies that certainly accompany outdoor recreation. The more often you play, the better you will get. In addition, you will perfectly develop coordination of movements and speed of reaction. Yes, and it is more pleasant to give a load to the muscles in a fun team game than running alone in the park with a player.

Beach volleyball: subtleties

Beach volleyball, which has a second, less common name - beach volleyball, is currently very popular. On good beaches, there are certainly special areas that allow everyone to have fun and warm up, or even make a new acquaintance.

A game like beach volleyball is much simpler than usual: here all the rules are quite flexible, and even the ball can be hit not only with your hands, but in general with everything you have to. You can play at least two, at least ten. The main thing in this case is only the presence of two teams. The goal of the game remains classic: you need to hit the ball over the net, to the side of the opponents, so that they do not have time to pass it back, and the ball touches the ground.

There are a number of features that you should pay attention to in order to make the game enjoyable and safe:

  1. The size of the beach volleyball court should be about 16x8 m and divided in half by a high net. At the same time, please note that the site should not be paved or sown with grass: beach volleyball involves sand.
  2. Beach volleyball sand is worth inspecting before the game: if you notice various sharp pebbles, glass or fragments of shells in it, it is better to abandon the game so as not to spend the rest of the day in the nearest emergency room.
  3. The height of the beach volleyball net is standard - 2.24 m. This is not too low, but not too high. In a word, participants of any height may well throw the ball over such a height.
  4. The beach volleyball must be slightly larger than the standard ball.
  5. The women's beach volleyball uniform is your swimsuit. Some girls wear shorts, but you can do without them.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated about this, expensive equipment is not required - you just need a great mood!
