Rating of the best ufc fighters. The best mma fighters. UFC men's weight classes

10 best MMA fighters peace. Why is Cormier better than Khabib?

What is a p4p rating?

Simplified, the pound for pound rating is perceived as a rating of fighters from different weight classes, which are compared as if they all weighed the same and were considered as potential rivals. Comparison takes into account achievements in this moment, potential, subjective impression and anything else - up to the charisma and integrity of the image. We studied the ratings of the top 10 fighters in the world from Sherdog, Tapology, Fightmatrix, ESPN, MMAweekly and UFC (since only UFC fighters got into the five previous ratings) and made up the summary ten.

10. Henry Cejudo (USA)

31 year; over 56.7 kg; 13 wins, 2 losses

What did you do: freestyle wrestling

Short: first Olympian to become UFC champion. Cejudo had two attempts - one of the most dominant champions was opposed UFC Demetrius Johnson, and with the second Cejudo defeated Johnson, who had defended the title 11 times before.

9. Stipe Miocic (USA)

36 years; over 93 kg; 18 wins, 3 losses

What did you do: baseball, wrestling, boxing

Short: about everyone who comes next, by default, you can write "he hits well, fights well." Miocic gave the impression of a big, strong, smiling man working as a fireman, until it turned out that nature gave him such data with which he could beat almost the best kickboxer, grappler and boxer in the UFC in two years. Miocic became the most successful heavyweight in the promotion's history, defending the title three times and losing only to Daniel Cormier. You will meet him on the first line.

8. Georges St. Pierre (Canada)

37 years; up to 77.1 and up to 83.9 kg; 26 wins, 2 losses

What did you do: karate, wrestling

Short: obviously the most controversial position in the ranking. Georges St-Pierre returned to the UFC last November after a 47-month hiatus and immediately beat middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Given that St-Pierre's previous career was outstanding - a welterweight championship and 9 title defenses - he could very well be in the top 10, but at the moment St-Pierre is not saying anything about pursuing a career in MMA and, not ruled out, gone. It is important that he is not in three of the six rankings studied, but, for example, MMAWeekly puts the Canadian in second place, and if you consider him as an active fighter, this is very easy to accept.

7. Robert Whitaker (Australia)

27 years; up to 83.9 kg; 20 wins, 4 losses

What did you do: karate

Short: Whitaker remains one of the UFC's most enigmatic champions, but also one of the youngest men on the list. best fighters planets. Probably one balances out the other. He has an aggressive percussion technique, an excellent ability to endure in a cage and hold long fights, but so far his frequency of performances is rather alarming: two fights each in 2015 and 2016, one each in 2017 and (most likely) 2018.

5-6. Demetrius Johnson (USA)

32 years; up to 56.7 kg; 27 wins, 3 losses

What did you do: wrestling, pankration

Short: Johnson has defended the UFC title 11 times, and no champion has more defenses. Unfortunately, the flyweight brought the fighter to the lightest attention, and even two confrontations with Olympic champion Cejudo and passion computer games did not make Johnson more popular. He is now on the cusp of the UFC as part of a fighter swap deal with the One FC promotion.

5-6. TJ Dillashaw (USA)

32 years; up to 61.2 kg; 16 wins, 3 losses

What did you do: wrestling

Short: usually, when talking about top fighters, they give some amazing series of victories, but Dillashaw was the one who interrupted such a series. He once defeated Renan Barao, who went out to fight Dillashaw for 32 wins in a row. Bookmakers multiplied the bet on Dillashaw by 10 if he won.

For the past two years, TJ has focused on taking on former tattooed teammate Cody Garbrandt and winning both times. Dillashaw also sparred with boxer Lomachenko, and he communicates well with Sergey Kovalev.

4. Tyrone Woodley (USA)

36 years; up to 77.1 kg; 19 wins, 3 losses

What did you do: wrestling

Short: Woodley won the title by confidently knocking out the defending champion, but after that he began to upset. His next three fights ended in referee decisions. When it looked like the UFC could fix the problem with a new champion, undefeated big Liverpool Darren Till, Woodley confidently dealt with him as well, choking Till in the second round. Mom Woodley personally reassured the young applicant after the defeat.

3. Khabib Nurmagomedov (Russia)

30 years; up to 70.3 kg; 27 wins, 0 losses

What did you do: wrestling, combat sambo

Mentioned but not included

The UFC rating includes Conor McGregor, and this can be interpreted as a political decision: if you have a fighter who brings the maximum amount of money in fights, it is strange not to advertise him with your own resource.

MMAweekly.com is the only site that offered to consider two girls: Chris Justino and Rose Namajunas.

Tony Ferguson was also mentioned - his fight with Khabib has already failed four times, but we would be ready to wait for the fifth attempt.

About Khabib

It is difficult to assess Khabib's third place, in the last two fights he was initially considered an obvious favorite, and this, on the one hand, is an indicator of class, on the other, it will give rise to distrust of achievements. His competitors in this ranking more often won fights when the bookmakers doubted the choice.

But if you imagine Khabib weighing 100 kg, you can break your head about their duel with Daniel Cormier: in an equal fight, Khabib's endurance would be exchanged for Daniel's ability to knock out, and then you can start arguing. At the same time, Cormier's candidacy does not raise questions from any of the publications: he is the first in six out of six cases.

The fight Cormier - Derrick Lewis will be the central event of UFC 230. It will take place on November 3 in New York (on the morning of November 4 in Moscow). You can watch the live broadcast of UFC 230 on the Match TV channel. The broadcast starts at 5:00 am (Moscow time) on November 4.

The UFC has become very popular. The most ferocious warriors on the planet fight against each other in the hope of finding out whose martial arts better and which of them is the strongest. The best fighters UFC for 2017, according to the Big Rating magazine:

Robert Whittaker

Robert John Whittaker, born in 1990. He is an Australian fighter with New Zealand roots. Known by the nickname "The Reaper".

The fighter competes in middleweight (his own weight is 84 kg).

What we know about Robert is that he was accustomed to sports since early childhood. Robert's father John sent the boy to karate while still a toddler. After eight years of training, Robert changed his qualification to Hapkido, and in 2003 he began to engage in MMA.

Robert started his professional career in 2009 with the Xtreme Fight Championships promotion in Australia.

His first fight took place on March 14, 2009 against Chris Tallowin. A crushing victory in the first round gave Robert an incredible impetus for further studies.
Further, Whittaker signed up for Cage Fighting Championships, in which he won 6 victories.
With a record of 9-2, Whittaker took part in the show The Ultimate Fighter. There the Australian team confronted their opponents from England.

The first fight lasted only 19 seconds. Robert knocked out Luke Newman in the first round. Moreover, for this knockout, he received a bonus of $ 25,000 for the “Knockout of the Season”.

At the moment, the fighter 19 wins and 4 losses.

Jose Aldo

Brazilian fighter, nicknamed "Scarface". He performs in the floor lightweight(own weight 65 kg), under the auspices of the UFC.

It is noteworthy that Aldo was the fourth and last champion WEC Featherweight Championship and became the first UFC Featherweight Champion, immediately after the unification of the UFC and the WEC.
Surprisingly, until 2015, Aldo was the leader of the list of the best fighters, regardless of the weight category.

José Aldom is a two-time featherweight champion and has 26 wins, as well as 2 losses.

Michael Bisping

Fighter from England, with the aristocratic nickname "Count". He performs in the middleweight (own weight 84 kg), in the UFC league. At the moment he is the champion of his weight category. Also on his list is the Cage Rage light heavyweight championship and Ultimate Fighter 3.

June 4, 2016 was significant for Michael, because he won the UFC championship belt.
At the moment, the athlete has 30 wins And 7 losses.

Dominic Cruz

An American fighter of Mexican origin, who has the formidable nickname "The Dominator". Performs in the lightest weight category (tare weight 61 kg).
In the past, Dominik is a two-time UFC champion and a former WEC champion in his own weight class.

Dominick Cruz currently has 22 wins and 2 defeat.

Tyron Woodley

American mixed martial artist and freestyle wrestler. Tyrone is nicknamed "The Chosen One" and competes in the welterweight division (77kg bodyweight). Since 2013, he has been competing in the UFC and is the champion in his weight category.

Tyrone's first fight was in 2013 with Jay Heron. The fight lasted exactly 36 seconds and ended with a lightning knockout.

On November 16, 2013, Tyrone had another fight that went in the same vein. Woodley received the "Best Knockout of the Night" award for this fight.

At the moment, the fighter 18 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.

Daniel Cormier

The history of the rise of the fighter with the nickname "DC" is quite fascinating. Initially, he took part in Olympic Games from the USA.

In the UFC, Daniel began his career in heavyweight, but then moved up to light heavyweight. He argued this by saying that he did not want to compete with his friend Cain Velasquez.
Rising to the top of Olympus, Daniel defeated many eminent opponents, which include such fighters as Frank Mir, Josh Barnett and others.

The only fighter who was beyond Cormier's strength was Jon Jones. The first fight ended in a defeat on points, but the second one still cannot take place, because the date has already been postponed twice.

The strengths of a fighter include Olympic training: high level wrestling, pressure and boxing.

It's funny, but outside of the octagon, Daniel is a friendly and nice person, as well as a great friend.

At the moment the fighter has 19 wins And 2 losses.

Cody Garbrandt

American fighter, the lightest weight category (his weight is only 61 kg). Started professional career Cody just four years ago. Of course, then no one knew him yet and the general public did not even suspect him. However, the finest hour came in 2016. The audience saw 4 lightning wins, 3 of which came by knockout in the first round.

Now he has gone from an unknown upstart to the UFC bantamweight champion.
Cody's strengths include high speed and accuracy, as well as endurance and developed fighting intelligence.

Currently, Cody Garbrand has 11 wins and 0 losses.

Max Holloway

Jerome Max Holloway is an American fighter who competes in the featherweight division. Max's own weight is 65 kg. Nicknamed "The Blessed One", he moved through the UFC featherweight division to the championship in that weight class.

Now he is listed as the fourth best fighter in the world, regardless of the weight category according to Sherdog.

Now Max has 17 wins and 3 losses

Stipe Miocic

American mixed martial artist from Croatia. Now he is in the heavyweight division. Now his weight is 120 kg.

The fighter with the specific nickname "Stone Cold" began his career on October 8, 2011 against Joey Beltran. The victory was awarded unanimously.

At the moment the fighter has 17 wins and 2 losses.

Conor McGregor

A unique fighter in the history of the UFC, because he is the only owner of two championship belts at once, in different weight categories. McGregor's nickname is "The Notorious".

At the moment, he is the reigning lightweight champion and a very extraordinary person in the UFC. Everyone knows McGregor for a very flamboyant manner of fighting, which includes various techniques and styles.

McGregor's unusual temper is combined with a fierce character. He starts the fight long before its official start, because he always provokes his opponent in every possible way.

The cheeky Irishman is just making history. What is the fight of Jose Aldo worth, in the featherweight division on UFC tournament 194. Conor just smashed his opponent in 13 seconds and got the championship title.

At the moment, the fighter 21 wins and 3 losses.

Demetrius Johnson

The second place in our rating was taken by the famous American Demetrius Hrisna, who performs in the lightest weight category. Surprisingly, the fighter weighs only 56 kg. Now he is the reigning champion in his weight class, and he is also recognized as the most stable fighter.

A trained fighter can fight both in the stance and on the ground. Differs in huge speed and excellent reaction. Ideally adapts to any opponent.

Now Demetrius has 26 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

John Jones

The winner of today's ranking is the famous Jonathan Dwight Jones, nicknamed "Bones". He competes in the light heavyweight category at 93 kg.
This is one of the most talented and technical fighters in the world. What is the light heavyweight championship worth at just 23 years old. He became the youngest UFC champion in the history of the organization.

All his fights end with undeniable victories. The only defeat is not very good story, because he was disqualified for elbow strikes at prohibited angles. To be honest, Jon Jones has no defeats.

However, like any talent, John found himself in an awkward situation when his dark side. Sad to say, the UFC legend has been in trouble with the law for drug use. This led to the deprivation of belts, as well as the rejection of some contracts with sponsors.

Everything Russian fans MMA expected that after Khabib Nurmagomedov wins the lightweight title, he will rise significantly in the rankings. Expectations were justified.

Behind him, the Russian left all his competitors, including Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson. It is likely that Khabib will hold his first defense of the belt with one of them. Nurmagomedov is set to return to the octagon in November. Let's see how the UFC matchmakers work.

In the ranking of the best fighters, regardless of weight categories, Khabib rose to eighth place. This is a record for him. He has never climbed into the top 10 of this rating. Above him are only UFC champions, with the exception of McGregor. Why he is higher than Khabib in this ranking is a mystery, probably, even for Conor himself. But this will not really bother our athlete.

Everything is clear with Khabib. What about other Russian fighters?

US Featherweight Zabita Magomedsharipova nicknamed the ninja and kung fu master. The ex-champion of the ACB league has fallen in love with fans abroad: he is very cool and spectacular in his fights.

He spent three fights in the UFC, winning them, and for each of these fights he received bonuses in the amount of 50 thousand dollars from the leaders. It is very cool. But it’s also cool that Zabit has climbed to 14th place in the organization’s lightweight rankings after defeating American Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223. Now it remains to be hoped that the Russian will pick up an opponent from the TOP-10. Or maybe the opponent will be Yair Rodriguez, who is on the 11th line.

One of the favorite fighters of Ramzan Kadyrov, Magomed Bibulatov, is now in full swing preparing for the UFC Fight Night 128 tournament (April 22), where he will fight with the Japanese Yuta Sasaki.

Magomed unexpectedly lost his previous fight to John Moraga, but remained on the 15th line of the flyweight rating. Bibulatov is the favorite in the fight against the Japanese. The victory will definitely move him a few lines higher.

light heavyweight Gadzhimurad Antigulov held two fights in the UFC, winning them victories. This allowed him to rise to 13th place in the rankings.

When the Russian will hold his next fight is still unknown. UFC management considers Gadzhimurad a promising fighter, and there is no point in arguing with this. We are waiting for big fights and increase in the rating.

We have several people in the TOP-15 heavyweights at once. On the 13th line is located Shamil Abdurakhimov, who is now waiting for a decision on his next fight.

Will soon improve its position Alexey Oleinik. On May 13, at UFC 224 in Brazil, he will fight against the 14th number of the heavyweight rating Junior Albini. The Russian, by the way, is higher - in tenth place. The victory will allow Alexei to close the defeat from Curtis Blaydes and climb one or two lines in the ranking. The chances of success are good.

Well, the main hope of Russia in the UFC heavyweight is Alexander Volkov, who had a great run and four wins in the UFC. Drago is in third place. Only Alistair Overeem, Francis Ngannou and champion Stipe Miocic are ahead.

It is not yet known where and when, and most importantly, with whom, Volkov will fight next time. Everything depends on him, as well as on the duel between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. However, it is safe to say that Alexander is very close to the title fight.

Modern mixed martial arts are increasingly taking on the form of an entertainment show, which is beginning to dominate the sports component of MMA. The leadership of large organizations is increasingly paying attention to the bright image of a fighter and his charisma, rather than his fighting qualities. If you can speak beautifully, don't get lost in front of the camera, and can easily insult your opponent, then, all other things being equal, your chance of getting a big fight or reaching the title doubles.

It is not surprising that in these realities, one of the important factors for the promotion of a fighter and the development of his career is the number of subscribers in in social networks no matter how funny it may sound. If millions of people follow you on the same Instagram, they see you every day on the screens of their devices, flipping through the feed in the morning, which means they will be aware of when you next fight and at least take an interest in the result of this fight. In fact, in a century information technologies, subscribers, this is the liveliest audience and its number directly affects the financial success of a fighter. As you may have guessed, today we will talk about the most popular fighters on the Internet.

10 Paige VanZant

Instagram: 1.9 million

Twitter: 300 thousand

Total coverage: 2.2 million

Paige VanZant, cutie from the UFC flyweight division, opens our rating. Not many people read her on Twitter, but her audience on Instagram is almost 2 million people, which is quite logical: most are interested in sexy photos VanZant than her tweets. Two million is not bad for a girl with a UFC 4-3 record. The charismatic 24-year-old rose to prominence while on a three-fight streak in the UFC before losing to Rose Namajunas in a bloodbath. However, Page's popularity level hasn't dropped, quite the contrary. The reason for this is that after the first defeat, the athlete took part in the American television project "Dancing with the Stars", and not only took part, but won the final of the 22nd season. After some time, VanZant released an autobiographical book in which she admitted that she was a victim of gang rape at school. Great PR. Since then, Paige's popularity on social media has increased, as has her breast size, after undergoing silicone implant surgery.

9. Daniel Cormier

Instagram: 1.8 million
Twitter: 700 thousand
Total Reach: 2.5M

In ninth place is the greatest UFC fighter regardless of weight class, light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. DC has fewer followers on Instagram than Paige VanZant, however, he surpassed her in the number of followers on Twitter. The two-weight champion and his career, which often appears on Twitter, are followed by a lot of people. Daniel Cormier's Instagram is belts, belts, workouts, workouts and more workouts. Oh yeah, and some family photos. It is worth noting that Cormier gained the lion's share of popularity by winning the heavyweight championship belt in a fight with Stipe Miocic. Up to this point, Cormier was not in the top ten.

8. Jose Aldo

Instagram: 2 million
Twitter: 900 thousand
Total Reach: 2.9M

Jose Aldo has an obscenely large following on Twitter. His tweets are read by more than 900 thousand people, most of whom are probably Brazilians. He gained a significant part of this audience in 2015, during a fierce confrontation with Conor McGregor, which at that time was not heard only by the deaf. Hundreds of thousands of Brazilians subscribed to their compatriot out of patriotic convictions, in the hope that he would defend the honor of the country in battle with the impudent Irishman. Didn't stand up. Now the popularity of the Brazilian ex-champion in the social. networks has significantly faded, and in the UFC they no longer pay as much attention to him as before.

7. Nate Diaz

Instagram: 2.6 million
Twitter: 1.1 million
Total Reach: 3.7M

In seventh place is scandalous famous fighter UFC from Stockton Nate Diaz. And again, with the help of Conor McGregor. It's no secret that Diaz got the lion's share of his current popularity (quite deservedly) by strangling Conor McGregor in 2016, inflicting his first defeat in the UFC. Nevertheless, the Diaz brothers were popular in the states before that. The stoned tweets of the younger Diaz are read by more than a million people. Nate, every now and then, soaks up something that the whole MMA world then discusses. Show up at the press conference for an upcoming fight and then tweet "I won't fight on this show. Fuck the UFC!" - it's his style. In almost all the photos on Instagram, Diaz flaunts with his training mates, and Diaz has practically no eye in these photos.

6. Georges St-Pierre

Instagram: 2 million
Twitter: 1.95 million
Total Reach: 3.95M

Georges St-Pierre is a real superstar in Canada. Even those who are not even close to the UFC know him there. St. Pierre is one of the greatest fighters in history mixed martial arts, so it would be surprising if he was not in this ranking. Though former champion The UFC welterweight and middleweight is one foot retired, he is still one of the most popular fighters in the world. His kindness, respectfulness and human simplicity appeal to many fans, so it is not surprising that two million people subscribe to his instagram and almost as many follow his twitter. He has a lot of regular workout photos on Instagram, but his legendary status also means that you can find more on his account. interesting photos, with no less legendary people.

5. John Jones

Instagram: 3 million
Twitter: 2.05 million
Total reach: 5.05 million

John "Bones" Jones surpassed Daniel Cormier this time too. ex-champion light heavyweight opens five. Jones' total following is twice that of Cormier. Jones is a rather controversial figure in the MMA world. On the one hand, this is a phenomenal fighter who destroyed every opponent in the cage he faced and became the youngest champion in UFC history. The other side is overshadowed by Jones' legal troubles, failed drug tests, and an addiction to noisy parties with seas of liquor. Jones' Instagram is full of cool workout videos and motivating quotes, from Gandhi to the Bible, and at the same time is replete with "frank" messages to all his haters.

4. Anderson Silva

Instagram: 2.9 million
Twitter: 7.9 million
Total Reach: 10.8M

And in fourth place in the ranking is the first and only fighter whose audience on Twitter exceeds the audience on Instagram, and exceeds it almost three times. What causes such a gap is not clear. Last year, the Spider failed a drug test for the second time, causing his fight against Kelvin Gastelum to be cancelled. Silva's suspension ends this November, so the legendary ex-middleweight champ is set to return to the octagon this year and aim to take on Conor McGregor in the process. Despite his problems with the anti-doping agency USADA, Anderson Silva is still one of the brightest, most outstanding and memorable fighters in the history of mixed martial arts. According to his Instagram, Spider simply loves to train and play airsoft.
