Donkey making. Bottom tackle: types, secrets and subtleties of fishing. Bottom fishing rod

As already mentioned, bottom gear has design differences, but this is rather an exception.

In general, they consist of:

  • sinkers;
  • main line;
  • leashes with hooks.

To these three elements are added:

  • rods;
  • reel;
  • coils;
  • feeders;
  • swivels, beads, carbines;
  • stopper;
  • signaling devices;
  • coasters and racks.

A sinker or various types of weights is an indispensable element of bottom tackle, and it serves to hold the equipment near the bottom. There are sinkers that are placed on the fishing line, thrown and unwound along with the equipment.

Types of cargo for donocks

The shape and weight of the load varies, depending on the type of equipment and this can be a loaded feeder (as, for example, in feeder fishing).

According to the shape of the sinkers are:

  • rectangular;
  • triangular;
  • diamond-shaped;
  • oval;
  • trapezoidal;
  • round.

The choice of the form of loads depends on the presence and strength of the current in the reservoir, the casting distance and the weight of the rig with bait. For fishing in still water, any sinker is suitable, but for the current, special weights with lugs are selected that “hold” the bottom well. Beginning fishermen need to consciously choose the shape of the sinker, so that it is convenient to fish, and the tackle lies in the place of fishing.

Rectangular and rhomboid sinkers are used with hooks on the course, and round and oval on the "riser". When fishing in a reservoir with a silty bottom, choose flat weights that sink less into the silt and do not pull a leash with a hook.

But streamlined sinkers are used when fishing at shallow depths, when you need less noise when the equipment enters the water.

Sliding (or inline) weights have a through hole along the entire length, into which the fishing line is threaded when mounting the equipment. After casting the tackle, such a sinker lies at the point of catching, and the leashes with the nozzle float in the water column. After the fish takes the bait, until a certain moment it does not feel the resistance of the load, as the fishing line slides through the sinker.

The signaling device on the shore at this time shows that the main line has begun to move and the nozzle is in the mouth of the fish. The sliding version of the equipment has undoubted advantages, especially when catching cautious trophies, but the fisherman needs to be ready in order to strike in time.

Advantages of rigging with inline weight:

  • sensitivity - a cautious fish is not afraid to take a nozzle, as it does not feel resistance;
  • safety - in the event of a break in the tackle, the fish will be able to free itself from the hook;
  • tackle is more convenient to throw over long distances.

Disadvantages of inline editing:

  • the angler must follow the signaling devices in order to make a cut in a timely manner;
  • the installation design is such that it will not be possible to quickly change the load.

Deaf sinkers are equipped with a swivel or bracket for attaching to gear. They are easier to change during fishing, but there are situations when the current intensifies and the equipment is blown away, or vice versa, you need to lighten the equipment.

Feeder - one of the options for bottom gear, which has some differences:

  1. For donkey use a telescopic rod. Feeder rods have a set of different tips.
  2. When using a feeder, the bite is determined by the tip of the rod. Donkeys need signaling devices.
  3. It is easier to catch on a donk, because the fish are spotted on their own. But the catch is greater when using a feeder.
  4. For feeder rods, loose food is suitable, which is quickly washed out. Donka needs a thick bait.

How to assemble a donkey? A common bottom tackle looks like this:

  • rod;
  • coil;
  • leash;
  • a piece of fishing line, at the end of which there is a small weight and 1-3 fishing leashes with hooks.

Considering that fishing with bottom gear means catching big fish, it is necessary to use a thick fishing line with a diameter of more than 0.35 mm. This will protect against fish gathering, and you, in turn, will be sure of catching big trophy.

Sinker

For fishing on the donk, it is necessary to use drop-shaped sinkers, the weight of which is 30-100 grams. This shape of the sinker will provide good casting and comfort throughout the fishing. When fishing on a donk in reservoirs / rivers (on the current) - a weight of 30 grams is enough. As the waves appear and intensify, the mass of the weight for the donkey can be increased.

Leash

The choice of leash is strictly individual. Main point, which is worth paying attention to: when casting, the donkey leash should not overlap the main part of the fishing line.

For convenient bottom fishing - most fishermen use a leash that is no more than 20 cm long. For example, when fishing for live bait and hunting for big fish- the length of the leash can be increased, but five - everything is strictly individual.

Leashes are sold in every fishing store, you can easily buy them for a very low price.

Hooks

Classic bottom rig

The basis for the construction of classic gear for bottom fishing is a sinker, the weight of which determines the casting distance. The weight and shape of the sinker may vary depending on the speed of the current, depth and, of course, the angler's preferences.

On the one hand, the sinker must securely fix the bait at or near the bottom, on the other hand, it must not cling to grass, stones, branches, etc. when pulling gear. The most commonly used weights are cast from lead.

The most convenient shape is a “spoon” or a flat one close to it, sometimes anglers opt for conical and cylindrical shapes. Most often, the sinker on the fishing line is not fixed, but made sliding, limiting the movement to two small pellets.

A bottom fishing rod of this kind is usually equipped with two leashes, one is located below the sinker as a continuation of the main line, and the second is above. The thickness of the main line and leashes is selected depending on the type and expected size of the fish.

Recently, anti-twirl agents have become widespread.

Their shape and size are varied, but the principle of operation is the same - when using a plastic tube, the fishing line does not overflow during casting and the leashes do not get tangled.

Another advantage of anti-twisters is that almost all of them are equipped with a clasp, to which both a sinker and a feeder can be attached. The convenience of such an attachment is obvious: replacing the sinker with a more suitable one or a feeder is a matter of seconds.

Designs are also used with a “deaf” fastening of the sinker to the fishing line, when the leashes are tied above it.

The best place to use this type of donkey is large lakes and rivers. The main advantage of a donkey-snack is an accurate casting and a long stay of the bait in one place, at the right point in the reservoir. Such kind fishing may require investment. The zakidushka is very compact, mobile and can be used in the search for schooling fish. How to properly mount the donkey?

Installation of equipment for running donkey

The line is monofilament. Not thicker than 0.4 mm in diameter. I will explain this by the fact that somehow it has not yet been possible to catch monsters for a bunch of kilograms. Usually a fish on average from 400 grams to 1.5 kilograms. This is a sorog, perch, bream, whitefish. But a margin of safety for playing a fish of 3-5 kg is quite enough. The main thing is not to tear, but to tire and bring the opponent caught on the hook to the shore.

There were cases when large burbots took the nozzle during the day and even taimen coveted a bunch of loaches. There have been no breaks yet. Unless only with a dead hook.

In the simple version, which allows you to successfully catch the representatives of the ichthyofauna mentioned above, the bottom tackle looks like this, so to speak, “in a clumsy way”.

A load commensurate with the fishing condition is tied to the end of the main fishing line. For fishing in stagnant waters, it is easier than for fishing in the current. Unless, of course, you are going to catch a donk in the wiring. In this case, the weight of the sinker is selected more accurately. For convenience, as an option, I can advise you to pick up a Tyrolean wand. Its permeability in difficult conditions the bottom is difficult to overestimate.

The form of cargo for the most fishing does not really matter. But I noticed that the ebb of the lead "spoon" is superior in cross-country ability and has fewer hooks than all other variations.

Homemade end rigs are attached to the main line through a swivel.

Leads with a hook can be tied directly to the main line, but in the proposed version, the advantage will be the ability to replace the leash, if necessary, without breaking and re-tying. since the leash will be attached in the “loop to loop” way.

For a leash, a smaller diameter fishing line is taken. 0.2-0.22 mm is enough. About 20 cm long.

The hook is selected directly under the object of fishing.

In working condition, the load lies on the bottom, and the hooks with a nozzle located above lure the passing fish. Do not think that the leashes are short and located too close to the bottom. Everything works great.

Spring is the best time to use this installation of a running donkey. In the muddy water of the reservoir, the fish tends to the relief of the reservoir.

We stood or sat on the bank for 10-15 minutes, watched the gatehouse or the tip of the spinning rod - there is no bite, then we throw it to another place. And so we comb the coastline.

Attaching leashes with hooks above the load is more interesting for me. I don’t use nods at the tip of the spinning and I determine the bite of the fish by the deviation of the tulip itself and tangible jerks. As an option for attaching leashes - leashes below the sinker. With this installation, it is possible to refuse the load and the feeder will take its place on the equipment.

I'm not sure that running fishing will be more effective if you also carry bait with you. At least for fishing on the course, it will tie up fishing. For lakes, ponds - as an option. But in this case, why not go to the feeder?

Do not try to throw the equipment as far as possible. Fish can be located at a considerable distance, and close to the shore.

The variant of the so-called blind bottom tackle proposed above, when the cargo is at one point on the bottom. If the fishing conditions allow, then it makes sense to use a different type of running donkey - “pokatuha”. In this case, the sinker (selected olive or Tyrolean stick) slowly passes the bottom section. This is an option for fishing on a donk in the wiring.

The throw is made against the current. Under the influence of the movement of water, the rig travels its way, all the way to the shore below the angler. Then everything repeats. At the same time, the fishing area increases and, as a result, we find the location of the fish.

Is it really necessary to use beads, carbines, cambrics in the mood of the running donks? A specific answer is unlikely to follow. Different regions of the country have their own preferences and, over time, the nuances of attitudes that have entered.

I'm used to using simple rigs on the Angara, and bottom rigging is no exception. Extra links often lead to negative consequences.

The same goes for the number of hooks. It is inappropriate to put more than two. In case of failure, pulling a stuck hook out of your finger is not enough joy. It will be small, for a path, or large for burbot - there is not much difference.

As for the choice of nozzle, we again determine the desired production. Earthworm, maggot, bark beetle - this is for catching relatively small fish.

If the goal is larger prey, then the presence of live bait from fry or loach (lamprey), a good sandwich of worms. If we take into account the running bottom for live bait fishing, then there are some nuances in the supply of tackle and installation, but everything is not critical and the angler is able to notice and correct it in the process of fishing.

In principle, running donka is the same type of fishing as all others. Experiments with the installation of bottom gear, nozzles and baits, methods of supply and tactics of fishing for a reservoir - as expected. The more often - the more experience, the more experience - the more interesting and successful fishing.

No tail, no scales. Regards, Oleg

In early spring, fishing with a float rod is difficult on the river - the current speed is high, in addition, the water carries a lot of garbage. On the other hand, at this time of the year the fish come close to the shore, so there is no need to use classic bottom rods, and catching them is less efficient. Fishing in the spring is prolific.

At this time, roach, bream, ide, and perch peck greedily. The most rational in the high water is fishing with a half-bottom, or, as it is called in some places, “knocking” fishing. To do this, there are two main types of fishing rod layout.

If it is possible to catch near the shore in a not very strong current, an ordinary float fishing rod is used. The float moves up, at a distance of about half a meter from the tip of the rod, instead of several sinkers, one is placed, usually sliding.

This layout is practically the same as the classic donk, except that the line should be thinner and the sinker lighter. When fishing with the “knock” method, the main fishing line with a diameter of 0.3 mm is usually used, leashes - no thicker than 0.17 mm.

The lower breaking load of thin fishing line, unlike other types of bottom gear, is compensated by the ability to use the elasticity of the rod when playing. The weight of the sinker should not exceed the rod test values.

If it is branded, then the test is indicated on the butt. When using the simplest rods, it remains to rely only on intuition.

Too heavy a sinker can break the fishing rod, but it should not be too light either - after all, fishing can take place in the course or at depth. It is possible to determine how optimally the weight is chosen only experimentally.

To do this, it is best to make a sinker with a clasp, which will allow you to quickly and without hassle replace it with another, more suitable weight. The length of the working line with this arrangement is only slightly longer than the length of the rod. the float at the top limits the possibility of winding.

If there is a need for a longer line - when casting far, when fishing in a strong current, at great depths, then the float is removed, and the bite is determined by the tip of the rod.

It is usually felt as a more or less sharp blow or several blows - hence the name: catching "knocking". This design, in principle, is very similar to the English bottom fishing rod (quivertip), only more primitive.

Kvivertip as a tackle is fully adapted specifically to bottom fishing, more sensitive designed for a wide range of loads used, for the use of feeders various forms and sizes, for a variety of nozzles.

Its design allows you to fish at various depths and at different speed flow. But even ordinary wire and spinning rods are quite functional when fishing “by knocking” and allow you to get good catches.

The main nozzle in the spring. as a rule, a worm serves, and not a dung worm, but an ordinary rain worm.

dug up, if possible, directly at the place of fishing or collected in the morning after a warm, wet night on paths, etc. It is clear that such a worm is more familiar to fish.

When catching white fish with bottom gear, bait is usually used. For its delivery to the fishing point, feeders of the most various kinds and designs. The choice is determined by the characteristics of a particular place: current speed, casting distance, depth, etc.

Probably, the very first feeding method was described by Sabaneev, but it is still used today, and very often gives excellent results. It's about catching the "bomb".

They mold a lump of clay with bait, the size of a fist or an orange, break it in half, put the main fishing line inside, and in such a way that the leashes 50-100 mm long remain outside the lump "on its different sides.

Sometimes a button or stick is tied to the main line for a stronger connection with the “bomb”. The lump is compacted as much as possible, the hooks are baited with a worm or maggot, less often barley.

If the “bomb” is molded correctly, then the lump of clay does not erode for a very long time. When biting, which is transmitted as a sharp jerk or several jerks, the lump crumbles, which makes it easier to play the fish.

Calculation, of course, on the self-notching of fish. In principle, any feeder is a reservoir for placing bait with holes for its gradual washing out.

She can act as a load herself, or can be combined with lead sinkers.

The most common feeders are made in the form of a spiral of steel wire with a diameter of 2-3 mm. In the manufacture of a feeder designed for fishing in strong currents, part of the spiral is filled with lead, or, more precisely, the spiral is soldered into the load.

Most often, the feeder is attached to the fishing line according to the principle of a sliding sinker, and two leashes with hooks are placed above and below the feeder. To fill the spiral feeder, groundbait is usually mixed with clay.

Quite often, feeders are used, made of a piece of aluminum tube with a diameter of 20-40 mm and a length of 100-150 mm with holes drilled over the entire surface with a diameter of 3-4 mm. The tube is closed at both ends with rubber stoppers with holes in the center to pass the fishing line. This design is called a "torpedo" or "racket".

The equipped "torpedo" has sufficient weight to be fixed at the bottom with a calm current. If the current is strong, then lead can be placed inside the feeder or 1-2 lead rings can be fixed outside at the ends of the feeder.

Its advantage is a relatively large volume, low drag and less washout of food when taking out gear. Feeding troughs, as a rule, are stuffed with millet porridge, oatmeal with the addition of bran.

Fishing on the bottom

Initially, it was a hand tackle without reels and a rod. After a feeder appeared, which included the missing parts. The efficiency of catching has increased several times, as it has become easier to pull fish out of the water.

For a good catch, you need several gear. Their number may exceed ten. To prevent the line from getting tangled, the distance between the baits in the water should be more than 5 meters. Carp and catfish are often caught on bottom gear. The fish are quite large, so fix the rod well.

How does it work

Bottom tackle- a rod fixed on the shore. Throw bait into the water. As soon as the fish gets caught, hook. For efficiency, professionals use signaling devices and feeders. As signaling devices choose:

  1. Bells.
  2. Electronic signaling devices.
  3. Bells.
  4. Rod. In this case, the tip of the fishing rod begins to bend. Good for feeders. This version of the signaling device is intended for fishing during the daytime, since it is difficult to see the bending of the rod tip at night.

Where to fish

Choose a place without underwater snags and plants. The bottom type can be anything except stone. It is more efficient to fish at night. Catching places near dams or bridges, there is always more food.

The main fish that fishermen hunt with bottom gear is catfish. Catfish is a large fish, sometimes its volume can reach half a meter, and its weight is more than 30-50 kilograms. Therefore, you need to take care of the reliable fixation of the donkey, so that after a while, when you come to check “Is there anything on the hook?” - you did not see the empty space and the absence of a fishing rod.

Water

For more comfortable fishing, it is preferable to fish in places where all kinds of algae and snags are present. If we talk about the day, then it can be absolutely anything.

Probably, the most inappropriate bottom when fishing on the donk can be safely called - stone. The most suitable places for fishing on the bottom are considered to be locations with trees, snags, and bushes sticking out of the water.

Every fisherman knows that it is in such places that he lives especially big fish.

Example

As an example: surely you can remember how you caught on float rod. In a location where there are no all kinds of snags and bushes, there is no bite.

As soon as you throw it into a place where there is a snag or a bush, a good bite begins. Nothing surprising.

Fish feed on larvae and algae, of which there are a huge number in such places, so the first rule successful fishing- This, of course, is the selection of the right place.

We have reviewed the basic principles of donk fishing. Now let's get acquainted with the two best types of bottom tackle, namely, the donkey and spinning donk.

Fishing technique with rubber shock absorber

Fishing with a feeder on a river requires accurate casting and slow pulling. The bottom relief is completely transferred to the rod, “thumps”, as when fishing with a “jig”.

When casting the bait far enough - about 70 meters - the bottom of the river should be fairly even and clayey. And when pulling the sinker towards him, the fisherman feels vibrations, a kind of “blows” on the rod.

This means that there are stones or some obstacles on the way.

By repeated casting, bottom irregularities are determined and localized. This means that you have found the right place to fish with a feeder in the current. In addition, the distance of fishing is determined. To do this, the number of revolutions of the rod reel is counted.

When the tackle breaks, it will be easy to throw the feeder feeder at the exact fishing distance. Fishing in the river should be on the border of stones and some flat place - where there is clay. If the marker weight does not stick at the bottom, then it is clay soil.

The depth of the fishing spot is another important parameter. Since it is difficult to determine the depth when pulling the sinker, when casting a distance, you can roughly calculate the depth by the number of turns of the rod reel until it touches the bottom of the river.

Lure

During fishing, feeder feeders for the current are successfully used. For bait, it is easy to use the simplest products from the nearest supermarket or market. Feeder bait is quite complex and consists of many components.

It is mixed in a large bowl. Prepared at one time 3-5 kg. Breadcrumbs are used for the base. You can dry breadcrumbs. Crackers are good as a filler, they increase the nutritional attractiveness of this bait. For simplicity, 1.5 kg of breadcrumbs is taken.

Another important ingredient is cookies. Approximately one kilogram of cookies is ground and mixed with breadcrumbs. The biscuit gives the bait in the strong current feeder a special flavor that attracts the attention of the prey.

The third component is a sticky composition, for which oatmeal is used, about 1 kg.

To loosen the resulting composition, the fourth component is used - this is corn grits. It simultaneously loosens the bait and is a filler. In addition, ordinary oatmeal is added, which is a pop-up large fraction.

Cinnamon can be used as a flavoring agent. At this point, the mixture can already be used for bait, bait, bait for ide during feeder fishing.

The rubber shock absorber is a flagellum - earlier anglers used round aircraft model rubber about 2 mm or flat, 2-3 mm wide, and now they use 4-5 mm rubber. The advantage here is greater strength, but in these cases a heavier sinker is required.

The rubber is attached at one end to the sinker, the weight of which must be sufficient so that it remains motionless when the working line is pulled out.

The sinker is best brought in by boat. This allows you to more accurately set the tackle, and if you mark the place with a buoy, then at the end of fishing it is easy to find and pull out your tackle.

If there is no boat, then you have to cast from the shore. In these cases, an additional "towing" fishing line with a diameter of 0.8-1 mm is sometimes used.

But many anglers find it inconvenient. Good rubber has sufficient strength, and with a relatively clean bottom, a properly selected sinker can almost always be pulled out.

But sometimes you have to cut off the rubber.

Usually it breaks at the knots at the sinker, so the losses of its own are insignificant. In order not to regret the loss of a sinker, it is recommended to use the least valuable (from the point of view of the angler) items, up to a suitable stone, etc.

Throwing a sinker from the shore should be done with maximum accuracy and care, as this is done only once. To increase the casting distance, you can tie a half-meter piece of rope to the sinker.

If the tackle is installed from the boat and you have a permanent sinker, then it is better to tie rubber to it as follows: run it through the winding ring with a clasp and a carabiner two or three times and tie it with two or three simple knots, and wrap the remaining end with nylon thread and soak it with waterproof varnish or glue.

The rubber in the place of the winding should be in a slightly taut state. It is attached to the sinker with a fastener, as a result, strength is ensured, breaks and untying are prevented.

When throwing a sinker from the shore, it is necessary to connect it with rubber not so firmly that a break, if it happens, would occur precisely at the attachment points. In this case, the rubber is tied to the sinker with two or three simple knots, which are carefully and tightly tightened.

A winding ring with a swivel is attached to the other end of the rubber so that the working line does not twist too much. This fishing line consists of two parts: an insert from a fishing line 0.25-0.3 mm long 4-5 m and a main fishing line 0.5-0.6 mm. The junction of fishing lines of different thicknesses is recommended to be equipped with another swivel.

Leads are attached to the insert, as a rule, 0.15-0.17 mm and 200-400 mm long. The size of the hooks is selected depending on the size of the intended fish. Usually we apply #8-12 on international classification. It is better if the tip of the hook is bent inward - the fish is less likely to prick and takes more confidently. Leashes are attached to the line with the help of cambric so they are less confused in the process of fishing.

After its completion, the cambric is lowered to the hooks, sometimes put on the forearm, which makes the assembly more convenient. It must be remembered that the rubber is stretched on average by about 4-5 times, no more. Accordingly, the ratio of length and fishing line should be no more than 1:5, even a little less is better - 1:4.

To properly install tackle with an "elastic band", you need to know the reservoir and the habits of the fish well enough. In ponds, relatively large fish usually stand in the beds of flooded rivers.

She comes out to feed on the shallows in the evening, night and morning hours. In natural waters, she also prefers deeper places, but not always.

Sometimes, on the contrary, it hides in coastal vegetation, coming out to open places to feed.

Let me give you an example from my own practice. In the Lukhovitsky District in the village.

Matyr has a pond formed on the river. Matyrka.

For several seasons in a row, a very decent crucian was caught here - weighing up to 2 kg, and mostly at night, "with an elastic band." One day we decided to master this fishing.

We arrived, brought a sinker, installed tackle - I must admit, at random. As a result, they caught two crucians of three hundred grams each night, and the neighbors, who arrived later than us, caught ten kilograms each.

Only at dawn did we realize our mistake.

We brought in a sinker of forty-fifty meters and, accordingly, caught on the shallows, far from the bed of the flooded river. On the next trip, taking into account the experience gained, we fished at the same level as the neighbors. But for this it was necessary to re-equip the tackle. Now the load and hooks lay either on the old channel, or in the immediate vicinity of it.

Elastic

Donkeys with a rubber shock absorber are also popular - rubber bands. Such a donk allows you not to exhaust the tackle completely with each bite.

Donka from spinning

Despite all sorts of advantages and disadvantages, the best way to fish is to catch a donk with a spinning rod. For many years, this method of fishing was called "Fishing on the bottom", but soon this method became known as "Feeder".

The main advantage of the feeder is its design. If you don't like to fish using floats and spinning rods, but crave big trophies, then the feeder is what you really need.

In the arsenal of every fisherman there are various rods, reels, fishing lines and varieties of hooks. If you have all of the above, then you can install the bottom gear yourself.

Today, fishermen quite often practice catching fish with the help of a donkey. The method is distinguished by its efficiency, simplicity and low cost. Before you start fishing, you need to pay attention to aspects such as types of bottom gear, types of lures and the fishing method itself.

Donkeys were used by our ancestors. The main purpose of the tackle is to catch large fish that feed mainly on the bottom. Over the course of several centuries, the design gradually changed. Today, the bottom tackle looks like this: they pick up fishing line on the reel, hang a sinker, over which 2-3 baited leashes are attached. If you have to cast tackle over long distances, and the river current is strong, you need to choose a larger sinker. Thus, the bait will be fixed in the right place without movement, because the structure will not be carried away with the flow.

Tackle line

Since using donks they fish mainly for large prey, the fishing line must be strong enough and thick. It is believed that its diameter should not be less than 0.35 mm. If the line is at least a little thinner, there is no guarantee that the line will not burst while fishing for a strong and large fish.

Choosing a sinker for a donkey

It is believed that the most acceptable for a donkey is a sinker in the form of a drop. This form is designed for long-range casting of bait. The load can be different in weight: from 0.03 to 0.1 kg. Experienced fishermen note that it is easier to cast heavy sinkers, so they should be used when fishing takes place in a reservoir with a strong current.

But heavy loads also have their downsides. The greater their weight, the more noise they enter the water. If the fish for which fishing is carried out is extremely cautious, it can simply leave this place for a long time. For this reason, the most popular weights are from 0.03 to 0.05 kg.

Choice of leashes for donkeys

Since the purpose of fishing with the use of donkeys is precisely large and strong fish, then the choice of leashes must be taken with all seriousness. They must be large and of high quality. It is best to use self-hooking hooks. Sometimes even doubles of large sizes are used.

We choose the bait on the donka

The whole outcome of fishing depends on the choice of bait. Most often, its selection depends on the reservoir chosen for catching, as well as the type of fish that the fisherman plans to catch. Each of them has their own preferences. Here you should not forget that the fish bite only on what it is used to. You can use the most expensive baits, but the effect will be zero simply because the fish have never tried such a bait.

At professional fisherman There will always be several types of nozzles with you at once. It can be viscous cereals, and peas, and dough, and even nozzles of animal origin. Never be afraid to experiment. A very effective method is to use several different nozzles on the donk at once. Thus, not only the chances of catching fish in general increase, but also that it will be possible to catch several fish at once. different types fish.

We catch fish on the bottom

When using bottom gear during fishing, it is often practiced to use several such structures at once. This is very convenient, because it turns out to cover a vast area of the water zone at a time.

When installing a reel or spinning reel, it is imperative to pay attention to how tightly they are fixed to the shore. Sometimes the fish bites very sharply and then immediately goes to the depth, dragging a poorly installed reel behind it. Some fishermen secure the line by tying it around bottom branches, snags, and trees.

When choosing a site for fishing, you should pay attention to the presence of algae. In such places, it is better not to throw the bottom net. Fishermen also have a negative attitude towards the rocky bottom, because you can easily catch on ledges and bumps. It is best to fish in the morning, at night or in the late evening.

Using donuts with rubber shock absorbers

During fishing, many fishermen have a problem with a rather noisy cast. By trial and error, it was possible to establish that for silent fishing it is enough just to install special rubber shock absorbers.

There are several advantages of bottom gear with shock absorbers at once:

  1. The bait can be easily delivered to the same place that has already been baited.
  2. You can re-cast as many times as needed without scaring the fish.
  3. You can play the so-called "bait game".
  4. It is possible to feed the fish pointwise.
  5. The chances of success are completely dependent on the number of leads on the bottom gear.

It is also worth highlighting one significant drawback: rubber tends to wear out quickly, so it needs to be replaced often. This method can not be called economical, but it really works.

When using a shock absorber, problems only arise during the first cast. In this case, you should use a little trick: swim to the right place on the boat and silently lower the load to the bottom. At the same time, it is recommended to tie a foam float to the sinker, which will help to easily pull out the tackle if it breaks.

It is very important to properly prepare your gear before you start fishing. So, the bottom tackle with a rubber shock absorber has two reels (one of them has a safety cable, and the other has the main line and elastic).

The reels should be approximately 5 meters apart. Before casting, you need to accurately calculate how many turns of fishing line it will take, and decompose them so that when casting, it is the upper turns that are unwound in the first place. This is necessary so that the line does not get tangled and does not break. It is also worth remembering that the safety line is always unwound a few meters more than the main line.

It is also important not to forget about the correct sequence of actions: first, bottom tackle with an elastic band is thrown, and only then a fishing line with bait is placed.

For connection, a carabiner is used, which is unfastened at the end of fishing. After that, the weight gets with the help of a safety cable. Experts also advise storing rigs with rubber bands on separate reels so that they last longer.

Spinning rods for donkey

Initially, the donks that fishermen use today looked like ordinary hand tackle. But over the past few decades, spinning rods have come into fashion, the reels of which are very convenient to use instead of a reel.

After a number of modifications and improvements, spinning for the bottom net began to be called a feeder. It is this tackle that allows you to catch large fish feeding at the very bottom. The features of the device include its specific use. So, the feeder is not recommended for use in unfamiliar areas. If the fisherman knows the bottom relief well, the efficiency of the feeder is undeniable.

For the bottom net, they are also used because of the ease of casting the bait. If for classic spinning you need to purchase very expensive reels, then in the case of a bottom net, such a need disappears by itself.

Fishing is also made easier. If earlier you had to do everything with your own hands, including controlling the reel, then with spinning and a reel the process turns into a semi-automatic one. The risk that the fish will be too strong and the person will not be able to pull it out is minimized, because you can choose the level of fishing line tension yourself.

The cost of the device is not difficult to calculate. In total, 50 m of fishing line must be wound on the reel (thickness should not be less than 0.3 mm). With the help of a carabiner, several leashes are attached to the main line, and with a load heavy weight you can cast the bait to the maximum distance. If you buy Chinese reels, then the cost of tackle will generally be reduced to 10-20 dollars.

Donkeys with a feeder

When fishing, you always want to throw the bait as far as possible, because, as you know, big fish love depth. But here the fishermen faced a serious problem: how to deliver the bait exactly to the place of the abandoned tackle. To deal with this problem, it was decided to modernize the tackle and add a small feeder to it. This design is attached to the donkey with a carabiner.

Spring

For a long time, fishermen used primitive feeders, which consisted of several springs. The method turned out to be so effective that it is actively used today. Most often, spring mechanisms are used to catch white fish, such as bream, carp or bream. Much less often, springs are used to catch carp or silver carp. It is quite difficult to say something specific about the choice of bait and baits, because these factors completely depend on the characteristics of the reservoir chosen for fishing.

Donkey feeder

Finding the right feeder in the market or in a specialized store is not difficult. To date, there are several dozen options for models that differ in shape, weight and conditions of use. So, for certain reservoirs and fish species, mainly separate feeders are used. But they are all united by one purpose - to attract fish. In addition, feeders are often used when fishing with a feeder.

You can make such a device with your own hands. To do this, you only need metal wire and lead. Although ready-made types of feeders sold in specialized stores are much more effective. At the same time, their cost is not too high.

The main trick to using a feeder is to use the same bait on both the bait and the hook. By following this rule, you can easily catch even very large and cautious fish.

Bite alarm for donkey

Not always the attention of the fisherman can be drawn to the bottom. Sometimes the fisherman moves away for a short time or simply loses his vigilance due to sitting over the rod for a long time. In this case, it is better to purchase a special device that, using a sound or light signal, will tell you when the bite begins. It is worth considering the most common options for signaling devices.

bells

For quite a long time, ordinary bells were used as a detector. In addition to being easy to use, the method has always been effective. You just need to attach a small bell to the sagging thread next to the reel or the milk itself. In modern fishing, this method is most often used for donoks without ouds.

Electronic bite alarm

With the development of science and technology, progress has reached the fishing business. This is how the first electronic detectors appeared, which are waterproof and make a characteristic sound when the fish begins to peck. Some of them also have backlighting. If for some reason the fisherman walked away and did not hear the signal, he will always be able to see the warning light. This is very convenient, but the main disadvantage of such devices is their price.

Donkey bells

This is another interesting version of the detector. It is located at the end of the rod. The method is quite reliable, but it does not work when the fish has pecked at the bait and swims directly towards the fisherman. Then the bells are silent, and the thread sags a lot.

In modern versions of signaling devices with bells, there is a separate niche where light indicators are installed. This is extremely convenient, because it allows you to use them during night fishing.

Rod as a bite signal

The rod itself can also be an excellent signaling device. If you follow it closely enough. If a large and strong fish bites, then the tip of the rod begins to tremble and bend under its weight. At the same time, the time of day is a very important factor. In the evening and at night, it is almost impossible to keep an eye on the rod. Firstly, it is elementary poorly visible, and, secondly, the attention of the fisherman simply dissipates.

donkey rig

There are dozens of different options on the fishing tackle market today. It is rather difficult to describe all types of equipment, but it is worth dwelling in more detail on the main options that were able to gain the trust of fishermen.

The easiest option

Although this method is considered quite primitive by many fishermen, this does not reduce its effectiveness and reliability. It is very large fish with the help of this method to catch as easily as possible. The strength of the equipment will be maximum, since only one node is used.

A sliding sinker, which in its shape resembles an olive, is attached to the fishing line. To secure it, a silicone retainer is used. The stopper must be fixed quite firmly and rigidly, because it is on it that maximum load during the casting. If the stopper is weakly fixed, it will constantly change its position, turn over, etc. A lead shot clamped on a fishing line would be an excellent option. After that, a hook without an adapter is tied to the edge of the fishing line. Of course, there is an option with it, but then you need to attach it to the fishing line through a swivel.

Snap with spring

This option is suitable not only for fishing with a rod, but also for hand casting. Such equipment will be the most reliable and effective on lakes or rivers without a fast current. The first way will be a sliding snap. In this case, it is simply necessary to replace the sliding sinker with a spring. The design is easy to fill with peas or porridge. Here it is already necessary to proceed from the tastes and habits of fish in a particular reservoir. The advantage of this type of equipment is that the fish does not feel resistance. This is especially important if the fisherman hunts for large and very cautious prey.

The second version of the equipment involves the use of leashes, which seem to be recessed into the bait itself, placed in the spring. Thus, the bait will simultaneously act as both bait and bait. Using this method, they often fish for bream or carp. This type of equipment means that the fish will spot itself, and the fisherman only pulls it out of the water. For this method, a fishing line is perfect, the thickness of which is from 0.1 to 0.15 mm.

Fishermen should remember to place sliding-type flat weights in front of the spring when in currents or on cliffs. It is this form that will help them stay in place when the current begins to demolish them.

Do-it-yourself donka

Modern fishing rods. Tackle and other accessories are relatively expensive. But if you want to make the simplest version of the donkey, you can do it yourself. Such tackle will consist of a reel, fishing line with a hook and a small sinker, which is installed slightly higher than the hook itself. There are variations on this method of attachment, such as when the sinker is attached to the edge of the line and the hook is placed directly above it. The difference of this method is also the absence of a rod. The common name for such a design is a snack.

For more demanding fishermen, a more sophisticated version of the donkey is suitable. Its design includes a kind of rod (a thin whip short in length). The reel and line are attached directly to the rod. For convenient attachment of the fishing line, a loop is made on the rod, and the reel is mounted on a whip with wire. It is best to make wire hooks approximately in the middle of the rod, so that when fishing you can easily stick the pointed end of the whip into the ground and throw the line.

To make fishing more comfortable and not to miss the stage when the fish starts to bite, you can make a bottom tackle with a light indicator. To make such a design, you will need:

  • small capacity (the main thing is that it is plastic);
  • a couple of batteries;
  • tilt sensor;
  • switch;
  • LED and chip.

First you need to deal with plastic containers. A small hole is drilled in the lid of the container. Its diameter should not exceed 6 centimeters. A screw is placed in this hole and a paper clip is attached to the outside. Now you need to wind 50 meters of fishing line on the container and fasten a carabiner with a swivel at its end. The next step will be the manufacture of the sensor itself, which simultaneously performs the function of a bite signaling device. For its manufacture, the following algorithm must be observed:

  1. Take a small tube 0.8 cm thick and 1.5 cm long.
  2. Cut out the side part for the sensor from the iron sheet.
  3. Make the second sidewall from a different material. Plastic, textolite is best suited.
  4. In place of one of the sidewalls, screw in a screw with soldered foil.
  5. From the inside, the tube must be filled with balls, pieces of wire.
  6. Now attach the first sidewall made of sheet aluminum to the tube.
  7. Cut out a battery holder from brass.
  8. Insulate parts of the signaling device with cambric.
  9. Glue the board and install it on the cover.

When the fisherman has already arrived at the reservoir, he needs to hammer a small peg into the ground in order to attach an indicator to it. You can do this with a regular paper clip. Thus, a small crevice appears at the top of the stake, through which the donkey line is passed. As soon as the fish starts to bite, the peg will bend and the sensor will work.

Bottom fishing has been one of the main types of amateur fishing for quite a long time. Despite the introduction of new and progressive fishing methods into fishing practice, bottom tackle fishing remains one of the most profitable methods that bring trophy fish in its results. Numerous varieties of bottom gear make it possible to cover most of the conditions that arise during the fishing process, and anglers are also attracted by the fact that any donkey scheme can be assembled by them independently from inexpensive and commercially available fishing accessories.

Undoubtedly, this method is not as dynamic as spinning hunting, but for some fishermen, it is the calm conduct of the fishing session of the ambush method in constant waiting mode that brings incredible pleasure, and in the end does not offend the quantitative component of the catch. About the nuances and secrets that allow you to catch fish on the donk and equip effective tackle and our today's conversation will go.

Bottom gear, regardless of its design, consists of two fundamental elements of a line stored on a reel or reel, and a weight that holds the rig in working position. All other components of the tackle are assembled on a mounting frame based on the direction of fishing for the extraction of a certain type of fish and the structure of the reservoir. All kinds of bottom rigs include leashes with hooks of various types, shock absorbers from models or an elastic cord, foam floats to hold baits in the water column at certain levels, bite alarms and auxiliary feeders with different principles of their work.

In addition, the reel or reel can be mounted on a rod or a special device, both a pole and a plank, which simplifies bottom fishing from the shore or from a boat. All the constituent elements of the tackle are interconnected by direct knitting or with the use of intermediate swivels, winding rings and fasteners, harmonious with the size of the articulating parts.

How to make a donkey for fishing

Bottom gear is not an object of industrial production and is mostly collected by anglers individually, under certain fishing conditions. In order to complete the bottom tackle with your own hands, the angler must have the skills and ability to knit knots and have an idea about the algorithm for assembling constructs into a single assembly.

The principle of operation of the equipment remains common in all cases - the supply of baits on the main cord with the attachment of the equipment with a load at the bottom of the reservoir. Next, we will dwell in more detail on the elements necessary for the manufacture of bottom gear with a description of their main working properties and characteristics.

fishing line

Donkey equipment is formed on the main thread, which for short distances, up to 25 meters, is selected from monofilament fishing line, and for fishing at medium and long distances. The monofilament base is taken in a diameter of at least 0.2 mm, with the possibility of a fishing line for self-immersion under water and preferably in more stringent parameters. As a rule, transparent fishing lines are universal for all shades of water. Braided cords for tackle on the donk begin to be used from a diameter of 0.15 mm. Braids, as well as monofilament, are chosen with tough characteristics, and when using this type of cord, the green shades of the material are most effective for all types of water, and in different seasons of the year.

Important! It is worth pointing out that when fishing on shells, regardless of the distance of the bait, preference is given to monofilament cords with a lower abrasion coefficient compared to braided line.

Sinker

Fishing on the bottom can be carried out both with a deaf and with a sliding load. For the most part, drop-shaped lead sinkers are used for stagnant and weakly flowing reservoirs and flat types of forms for rivers with moderate and fast current. Drop-shaped weights and weights in the form of olives are not so noisy when casting, but do not stay on the bottom base on the currents, which, in contrast to them, is provided by flat figures that are noisier when feeding into fishing zones. A load weighing 70 - 150 grams will more than provide fishing in stagnant reservoirs, but for currents it is sometimes necessary to install a stationary sinker of 500 grams or more.

Important! Mountings to the fishing lines of deaf sinkers are carried out through swivels, selected depending on the mass of the load. The course of sliding sinkers along the main cord is limited by silicone stoppers based on the distances required for fishing conditions.

Leash

Lead material is selected based on the type of fish being caught. For pike, they put metal or Kevlar leashes. Catfish and zander attack baits on braided leashes without causing them any special deformations. All peaceful fish, depending on their caution and activity, can be successfully caught using monofilament or fluorocarbon line materials. The length of the leash depends on the activity of the fish, the way it feeds and the structure of the bottom base at the place of fishing. For active fish, short leashes are used, the dimensions of which are in the range from 15 to 25 cm. For passive fish and when fishing in silty reservoirs, longer leash cuts are used. Additionally, under these conditions, they equip the leashes with foam floats, often ranging in size from a pea to a walnut, which ensures that the nozzle is kept in the water horizon necessary for fishing.

Hooks

Hooks in the equipment are selected based on the bait used and the size of the fish expected in the catches. Leashes with hooks are best prepared in advance at home, on the shore only retrofitting tackle and not spending extra time on knitting. Under vegetable baits, hooks with a shortened forearm in the color of the bait are used. For animal baits in the form of a worm and crawling out, as well as live bait fish, hooks with an elongated shank of blue and steel colors are used. In some cases, setting fry as bait is effective to use doubles and tees according to the size of the fish used for fishing. The shape and type of the connecting element of the accessory, whether it be a spatula or a ring, do not fundamentally affect the installation design.

Important! The basis of the reliability of the leash-hook element is, depending on the material of the leash, and its correct execution.

Donkeys with a feeder

Fishing on a donk using a feeder is singled out as a separate direction, called a feeder and has rightfully earned great love from adherents of this style of bottom hunting. The feeder in such a bottom rig plays a dual role, simultaneously performing the duties of a sinker along with the feeding element. Anglers have developed a wide range of installations of feeders in feeder equipment, depending on the conditions of fishing both in currents and in still water, and also influencing the course of fishing, based on their passivity or activity of the fish.

Important! The shape and design of the feeder regulates the supply of complementary foods and the stability of the placement of equipment on the bottom. The material of the accessory and the degree of its loading affect the casting distance, their accuracy and the noise component.

Spring

Most often, the spring feeder is used as a sliding tool in feeder fishing. Many installations are based on the use of garlands of several springs, into which hooks with baits are introduced along with the bait. In particular, this fishing technology is applicable to the capture of crucian carp and carp, and among anglers it is called the killer of crucian carp, which is characterized by the prey of mounting in crucian hunting. A steel spring wound on a hollow rod, according to the principle of a three-dimensional oval, is used for fishing stagnant water bodies. The spring, compressed when filling with food, gradually returns to its original relaxed state in the water, releasing the bait, which, having created a muddy spot, attracts fish to itself. Spring feeders of various volumes and weights are produced by manufacturers of fishing accessories, but this item of equipment can also be made quite simply and independently according to your individual, practice-based request.

feeder

The feeder habitual for most feeders is made in a rectangular or cylindrical shape from a metal or polyethylene mesh. It is possible to equip the donka with this element both in a sliding and in a blind pattern. Cylindrical feeders are practical in stagnant ponds. Feeders in the form of a parallelepiped are used on currents, balancing their weight with the strength of the water flow. The cell size of the product regulates the portioning of the feeding mixture. In installation, these are fastened with the help of fasteners with the obligatory use of a swivel, which prevents the cord from twisting when winding up the equipment.

Spinning for donkey

The modern donk, or in fishing slang, a snack, is based on or a specialized form of it called a feeder tackle. The length of the rod affects the casting distance, and the test parameter of the rod blank affects the weight of the equipment being cast. When fishing on a donk from a boat, short rods up to 2 meters are preferred. When fishing on the bottom from the shore, blanks 3 meters or more long are used.

Important! The mass of equipment with weight, bait and bait should not exceed the test parameter of the rod.

The build of a spinning rod is selected based on the size and behavior of the fish when playing. For catching all carp fish, medium and slow types of blank are suitable. They allow you to hook fish with high quality and, using the shock-absorbing properties of the tackle material, to bring out the trophy without any problems. Predatory fish are caught on the floor with fast lines. This parameter influences the predator's hooking into the bony mouth, and in combination with the inertialess reel with a finely tuned friction clutch, bring the prey to the landing net. The feeder rod allows even more delicate fishing, due to the presence of interchangeable quiver-tips, with different characteristics, which only adds comfort to the fishing process.

Donkey bite alarm

An important component in fishing in the described way is the bite signaling device for the donkey.

Important! The equipment element helps to track the beginning of the fish's interest in the bait in time and determine the moment of hooking, which fundamentally affects the success of the fishing outcome.

Further material will be devoted to signaling devices in various designs, which will give the angler directions in choosing the one suitable for his option.

bells

The classic and cheapest type of bite signaling device, which, after mounting the tackle, is placed on the main cord and gives a mechanical sound signal when the fish savor, suck or swallow the bait. A small, frequent sound indicates the interest of the fish in the bait. A lingering ring indicates the moment of hooking. Bells are attached to the fishing line with a wire hook in the sling, at the very reel or reel.

Electronic bite alarm

A modern sound device that gives an electronic sound signal when the fishing line is caught in the signaling roller. The equipment is installed on a stand and at the same time can be a holder for a rod. The sound device can be equipped with a swinger that pulls the fishing line, which makes even a tiny bite noticeable and a pager to transmit a signal over a distance. In addition to the sound signal, the device also emits light pulses, which greatly simplifies night fishing.

The set of equipment runs on individual batteries. Fishing on a donk with an electronic signaling device is the most comfortable, but at the same time the most costly in material terms.

bells

Bells, as a modernized type of bell, are attached either to the fishing line of the tackle or directly to its quiver type itself. The sound mechanical signal is transmitted from the tightening of the fishing line or from the vibration of the rod blank during bites. The advanced bells can be combined with LED lighting powered by a miniature battery, which makes it possible to control multiple rigs in the dark. Fastening of the fixture on the mounts is carried out by a mechanical clamp, like a clothespin.

Rod as a signaling device

The quiver-type of the rod itself can also act as a signaling device, for which the angler will need to constantly monitor visually, and focusing on the intensity of its trembling, make a decision on the timely hooking of the fish. This type of bite control, in relation to the methods described above, does not leave the angler time for adjacent activities when fishing and makes it possible to hunt only one tool.

How to catch a donk

Bottom fishing can be done in several ways. The main thing is that the bottom base of the reservoir and its water area allow casting and installation of the installation.

Important! An intensive thicket of the water area, writhing, large stones and artificial junk objects at the bottom of the reservoir can hinder fishing.

Otherwise, catching a predator on a donk, like all peaceful fish, is similar in its technology, the main of which we will consider in the continuation of the material.

Bottom gear with shock absorber

The use of bottoms with rubber shock absorbers is convenient in vast free water areas and allows you to silently cast baits, which gives rise to catching especially cautious and shy fish. Tackle does not need a rod. The cargo is thrown manually or delivered to the place of installation by boat. A model is knitted to the load, with which the main cord is articulated, with hooks and bait. The extensibility of the model allows you to wind and re-install the line on the fishing trajectory without throwing the sinker.

Bottom fishing rod

Most often, a spinning rod with certain performance characteristics that satisfy the conditions of fishing acts as a rod. An inertialess reel is used as a reel and a device for effective casting of equipment, winding the line and playing the trophy. In such installations, a sinker is attached to the fishing line without a shock absorber in a deaf or sliding type.

Bottom tackle with a feeder

It is more effective to fish on a donk with a feeder on a special feeder rod. Features of the feeder allow you to fish in a narrow range, while achieving the highest efficiency of attaching fish to a promising point, controlling bite, serifs and playing the trophy. Feeder technology is an improved technique for hook fishing. And also higher requirements are imposed on the coils, which must have a clutch adjustable in several steps and a baitrunner.

The very same fishing is carried out from the shore, from the stationary installation of the rod on the stand. For the most part, the feeder is specialized for catching carp fish, but with some modifications in the equipment it can be successfully used for hunting all types of predatory fish.

In this article we will consider a device for fishing, the name of which is "Donka". What it is? All the points that a novice fisherman needs to know and how to make bottom tackle yourself.
Donka is one of the oldest fishing methods, which is very popular to this day. The bulk of the fish that live in rivers, lakes and reservoirs is at the bottom. Bottom fishing rod means by itself - catching bottom fish. If you want to collect a donkey, then what is required for this?

How to assemble a donkey? A common bottom tackle looks like this:

  • rod;
  • coil;
  • leash;
  • a piece of fishing line, at the end of which there is a small weight and 1-3 fishing leashes with hooks.

How to make bottom tackle with your own hands?

fishing line

Considering that fishing with bottom gear means catching big fish, it is necessary to use a thick fishing line with a diameter of more than 0.35 mm. This will protect against fish gathering, and you, in turn, will be sure of catching a large trophy.

Sinker

For fishing on the donk, it is necessary to use drop-shaped sinkers, the weight of which is 30-100 grams. This shape of the sinker will provide good casting and comfort throughout the fishing. When fishing on the bottom in reservoirs / rivers (on the current) - a weight of 30 grams is enough. As the waves appear and intensify, the mass of the weight for the donkey can be increased.

Leash

The choice of leash is strictly individual. The main point that you should pay attention to is that when casting, the donkey leash should not overlap the main part of the fishing line. For convenient bottom fishing, most fishermen use a leash, the length of which is no more than 20 cm. For example, hunting for big fish can be increased, but five is strictly individual. Leashes are sold in every fishing store, you can easily buy them for a very low price.

Hooks

In most cases, bottom tackle is used for catching large fish, so it is recommended to use large hooks for bottom fishing. Some fishermen who are especially worried about getting off use several hooks or trebles, which is quite a reasonable solution, because no one wants to miss the big fish. Also, do not forget that the hooks must be of good quality (with a possible self-setting effect).

Donkey fishing

Donkey fishing does not mean fishing for 1 tackle. Most fishermen use a lot of tackle, there can be any number of them. If you are a novice fisherman, then in any case you could notice such a picture on the reservoir when a lot of gear was installed along the coast. There may be 5 or even 10 of them, and the fisherman himself walks and looks at the tips of the rods with special attention. Observed? - This is fishing on the donka. As a rule, rods are placed every 5 meters. This is necessary to eliminate possible problems with casting.

Fish

The main fish that fishermen hunt with bottom gear is catfish. , sometimes its volumes can reach half a meter, and the weight is more than 30-50 kilograms. Therefore, you need to take care of the reliable fixation of the donkey, so that after a while, when you come to check “Is there anything on the hook?” - you did not see the empty space and the absence of a fishing rod.

In addition to the river host, donkeys catch such underwater inhabitants:

  • carp;
  • perch;
  • and many others.

Every fisherman knows that especially large fish live in such places.

Example

As an example: you can probably remember how you caught. In a location where there are no all kinds of snags and bushes, there is no bite. As soon as you throw it into a place where there is a snag or a bush, a good bite begins. Nothing surprising. Fish feed on larvae and algae, of which there are a huge number in such places, so the first rule of successful fishing is, of course, choosing the right place.

We have reviewed the basic principles of donk fishing. Now let's get acquainted with the two best types of bottom gear, namely the spinning donkey.

Bottom fishing rod - snack

The best place to use this type of donkey is large lakes and rivers. The main advantage of a donkey-snack is an accurate casting and a long stay of the bait in one place, at the right point in the reservoir. This type of fishing may require an investment of money. The zakidushka is very compact, mobile and can be used in the search for schooling fish. How to properly mount the donkey?

Equipment

Successful fishing depends not only on the fisherman, but also on the quality of the collected tackle. In order to carry out the installation of the donkey as efficiently as possible and prepare it for good trophy fishing, you must purchase:

  • Spinning coil.
  • 100 meters of fishing line, the thickness of which is at least 0.30 mm.
  • Sinker (sliding) 30-100 grams.
  • A set of hooks (tees are recommended for catching a predator).

(a special fishing bell, or any other electronic device intended for signaling).

Elastic

Popular and.

Attention! It is worth noting that in the case of creating a feeder from a spinning rod, you do not need to pay any money. Unless you need to purchase tackle with a feeder, but everything else should be in your fishing arsenal.

How to make a donk out of spinning

Donkey equipment is simple, to collect it you will need:

  1. Rod. You can use absolutely any donkey rod, even a cheap Chinese one.
  2. Coil. It is desirable to have a bottom with a coil (with two or more bearings).
  3. Good fishing line, with a volume of at least 0.30 mm.
  4. Hooks - tees. As mentioned earlier, tees are used to accurately catch fish and keep them from getting off the hook.

The bottom fishing rod is very simple, any fisherman can assemble it.

feeder

The main point that prompted the fishermen to create a feeder is the ability to fish using a feeder. The feeder made it possible to make more accurate casts and feed any place chosen for fishing.

Types of feeders

  1. Spring. The original type of feeder was an ordinary spring. Hence this type of feeder got its name - "Spring". The device has not lost its suitability, and to this day, fishermen successfully use the spring.
  2. Cell. The cage repeats the principle of the spring feeder. Its only difference from the spring is probably only the shape. The advantages include more accurate casting and use in any kind of reservoir.

Conclusion

For a long time, fishermen used a variety of fishing methods, constantly improved their gear and eventually created such a type of fishing as a feeder. Feeder - can be safely called the pinnacle of the development of donk fishing, it is impossible to argue with that. What do you need for comfortable fishing and big trophies? - Good body of water, feeder, chair. More and more fishing enthusiasts are switching to a feeder, it’s understandable, you don’t need to sit with a successful float and wait for a bite, then hook and get the fish ashore in time. It is enough just to spread out your feeder, install a bite alarm and calmly drink tea on the sidelines, relax and do other things.

Among all types of fishing gear, donks occupy a special place and are distinguished by their catchability and ease of manufacture. That is why bottom tackle is considered the most popular and various fish, both peaceful and predatory, are caught on it.

To define the concept of donkey, it is necessary to consider the conditions in which this tackle provides advantages over other equipment.

Where and what kind of fish are caught on donkeys

Already by the name it becomes clear that bottom fishing rods are used when fishing in the bottom layer, and this applies to both water bodies with a course, and rates and lakes with standing water.

Most of the river and lake inhabitants look for food at the bottom or in the water column, in the immediate vicinity of the bottom, and it is this feature of them that increases the value of donka when catching both small fish and test trophies.

On bottom gear they catch:

  • crucian;
  • roach;
  • bream;
  • carp;
  • cupid;
  • chub;
  • perch;
  • soma.

This is not a complete list of those types of fish that are caught on the donk, so the list is much wider. Any fish that feeds from the bottom is caught on the bottom, another thing is that some gear is used for roach or crucian carp, but others are used when catching catfish or carp.

The same applies to the type of reservoir on which fishing is carried out. In the current, rigs with a heavy load are used so that they are not washed away by a stream of water, and the hook with the nozzle remains in one place, and in a stagnant pond, the load is chosen to be lighter and the equipment is more sensitive.

Giving preference to a specific bottom gear, take into account:

  • features of the reservoir on which fishing takes place;
  • the variety of fish that is supposed to be caught;
  • fishing distance and current strength.

Driftwood and dense bottom vegetation are considered the only serious obstacles when fishing on the bottom, but there are ways to get around such obstacles.

Varieties and design features

The first donks did not have reels or even rods, the line was wound on a reel, and the casting and playing of the fish was done manually. The simple design of the gear contributed to the convenience of catching and transporting, but had a serious drawback, because when playing large fish, there were breaks and gatherings, and it is much more difficult to make long-range casting.

Therefore, the appearance of telescopic and pole rods in stores marked a new era in the development of bottom tackle, and expanded the possibilities of their use.

Today, anglers use many varieties of donok and among them:

  1. Zakidushki.
  2. , carp and silver carp.
  3. Running donks for the current.
  4. "Satellites" or .
  5. Onboard donkeys with a ring.
  6. Japanese women with hominy.
  7. Bottom snap on a predator.
  8. Carousel or return donk.
  9. Winter donks.

There are no special restrictions on the design of rigs, and each angler refines how his donka looks at his own discretion and under his own conditions.

Zakidushka

The zakidka is rightfully considered the progenitor of all bottom rigs, its design is very simple and it’s not difficult to make such a tackle with your own hands. Zakidushka is a piece of fishing line with a sinker at the end and 3-4 leashes with hooks.

When describing all types of bottom gear, it is understood that the main line 50-150 meters long is wound on the reel or reel, depending on the needs of the angler. It is recommended to knit bottom mounts on a piece of fishing line 50-100 cm, and in direct preparation for fishing, they are hooked to the base using the loop-to-loop method or using a swivel. The weight of the load for a snack varies between 30–150 grams, it all depends on the conditions of fishing and the type of reservoir.

The basis of the gear is a monofilament fishing line with a diameter of 0.3-0.4 mm, leashes are also made of monofilament with a diameter of 0.2 - 0.25 mm, 5-10 cm long. Hooks are selected depending on the type of bait and the intended size of the trophies.

The main fishing line on the classic "grandfather's" hook was wound on a wooden reel, which was stuck into the sand during fishing. After casting the tackle, the fishing line was stretched and fixed on a metal stand or wooden stand. To signal a bite, a bell was used on an elastic band, in which a slot was made for fishing line.

This design provided an indication both when pulling to the depth and when biting into the shore. A fisherman using a similar donk for fishing needs to be careful and not miss a bite so that the tackle is not dragged into the water. The design of the donk gives a complete picture of what a donk is, but it has both advantages and disadvantages.

Benefits of a snack:

  • application on a reservoir of any type;
  • compactness;
  • budgeting;
  • ease of manufacture.

Tackle Disadvantages:

  • casting distance restrictions;
  • the difficulty of feeding the point;
  • gatherings and cliffs when playing trophy fish;
  • Difficulty of fishing on a muddy bottom.

For a beginner, a hook is really the simplest and most convenient equipment with which acquaintance with bottom gear begins. Making a donut with your own hands is not difficult at all, as well as learning how to catch different fish with it. Usually, anglers use several hooks, catching a large sector, and at different distances, increasing the chances of a bite.

Classic donk with a spring

This tackle is rightfully considered the most common and its design takes into account all the shortcomings of the snacks. When fishing with a spring, a rod is used, which simplifies long-distance casting of tackle, and the main line is wound on an inertialess reel, which helps to calmly bring a trophy of any size into the landing net.

Precise baiting is carried out using a spring feeder, and with each subsequent cast, the bait table becomes more plentiful and more attractive to fish. It is the point supply of feed that increases the effectiveness of a donkey with a spring for fishing and even large trophies such as carp or silver carp are caught on it.

Structurally, the donk with a spring consists of:

  • rods 240–420 cm long;
  • coils;
  • main fishing line - monofilament or braided;
  • spring fittings.

Installation consists of a piece of monofilament fishing line with a sliding spring put on it, as well as 2-3 leashes with hooks 6-10 numbers. When fishing on a stagnant pond, an ordinary light spring is placed, and a loaded spring is used in the current, or an additional sinker weighing 40–120 grams.

Taking into account the weight of the bait in the spring, the rod test is also selected, because it must successfully cope with long-distance casts of heavy equipment. Spring donkey baits are sold in fishing stores, although homemade mixes show good results on fishing trips.

The main requirements for bait are related to the fact that it should "dust" in the water column, but erode slowly in order to attract the fish to the nozzle on the hook. Probably, every amateur angler has his own “secret” recipe for catchy bait, which he uses during trips to water bodies.

Animal components and floating nozzles such as technotest, pop-ups, or foam balls are used as nozzles. After preparing the bait mixture, they fill the feeder with it, and the nozzle clings to the hook and the tackle is thrown to the fishing point.

The rod is mounted on a stand with an electronic signaling device, or a bell or a fishing rattle clings to the line. In anticipation of a bite, the fisherman does not need to constantly monitor the rod, especially if the reel is equipped with a baitrunner system that prevents line breaks and loss of the rod when biting a powerful fish.

Advantages of a donkey with a feeder:

  • possibility of application on reservoirs of any type;
  • ease of manufacture;
  • low cost of components;
  • coverage of a wide sector of the reservoir;
  • fishing at a long distance;
  • the use of a variety of baits;
  • the ability to use animals and artificial, floating and sinking nozzles;
  • the effectiveness of tackle at any time of the year, in open water.

It is difficult to find shortcomings in a donkey with a spring, well, except that the fragility of metal springs, which also rust in water, is the reason for their regular replacement.

Taking into account the fact that the cost of springs is extremely low, the cost of new equipment components is not critical, and it is not surprising that most amateur anglers catch a bottom with a spring, and quite successfully. Most often, several rods are used for fishing, and due to the presence of electronic or mechanical signaling devices, the fisherman does not need to constantly monitor the condition of the gear.

Donka with rubber shock absorber

Donkeys with a shock absorber, or elastic bands, were invented by anglers a long time ago, and this type of equipment is also popular and is often used to catch crucian or bream in ponds with stagnant water or a weak current.

The tackle consists of a piece of monofilament with 8–10 leashes, tied on one side to the base, on the other side to a rubber shock absorber 20–30 meters long. The rubber band, in turn, clings to the load, which is brought to the fishing point, and the shock absorber stretches and pulls the tackle itself and the main fishing line along with it. Usually the shock absorber is extended by three of its lengths and, accordingly, after releasing, the same amount of fishing line is in the water.

That is, with a length of elastic band of 20 meters, for fishing you need at least 60 meters of the base, or even more, it all depends on extensibility. Most often, the elastic is brought in by a fisherman on a boat, and his partner on the shore holds the other end of the elastic with a rig tied to it. After the rubber is stretched to its full length, the load is lowered into the water, and the fisherman, who is on the shore, releases the equipment tied to the rubber with nozzles attached to the hooks.

The important thing here is that each time the tackle falls into approximately the same place, and if you feed it additionally, the chances of a bite increase significantly. On the shore, the main fishing line is reeled up on the reel and a bell on an elastic band with a slot clings to it. When biting, the line is pulled or loosened, and the fisherman hooks the fish, pulling it ashore manually.

When unwinding the fishing line, the rubber shock absorber is stretched and after removing the caught fish and re-equipping the hooks, due to its elasticity, it pulls the equipment back into the water. It is very convenient that the donk gum does not need to be thrown into the water every time and the hooks always fall into the same point. At first, an aeromodelling rubber band was used as a shock absorber, and this was not the most budget option.

Now rubber shock absorbers are more affordable and are sold in any fishing or hardware store, so there is no problem with the purchase. When importing elastic, it is important to correctly determine the degree of tension, so as not to break it and at the same time stretch it as much as possible. This will allow you to fish at the greatest distance from the coast, because it depends on the length and extensibility of the shock absorber.

Donka elastic is knitted very simply:

  1. a load is tied to the end of the shock absorber;
  2. the main fishing line clings to the second end of the gum;
  3. at a distance of 8-10 cm from each other to the base, from the side of the connection with the elastic, leashes with hooks are attached;
  4. the base is wound on a reel, a shock absorber is on top.

A simple elastic band is not suitable for fishing for large fish and they catch carp, bream, roach, perch on it. When biting and playing a solid trophy such as carp or catfish, the rubber shock absorber is likely to break, as its strength is not enough to hold the fish.

This is a disadvantage of the gum donkey and even if you use a reinforced version of the shock absorber, there will be no special advantages. Many anglers try to improve their shock rig by using a reel rod instead of a reel, or by opting for thick rubber and line. But these are unsuccessful decisions that do not bring a cardinal improvement in gear.

You should not catch the elastic on the current, as the advantages of mounting are lost. The shock absorber is pulled out under the force of the flow of water and the hooks do not fall where they need to. In addition, the load is pulled from its place when the elastic band is pulled, and if the weight is increased, the shock absorber will break. If you still have to fish in a gentle current, the rubber band is brought in at an angle of 45 degrees relative to the coastline, then the water pressure is not so great and the load does not blow.

Although in this case, the shock absorber is extended, and the main advantage of the equipment is leveled. Rubber has been successfully used on night fishing, and such tackle is especially catchy for spring bream and crucian carp, which are just active at night. It affects the fact that the tackle does not need to be thrown into the water all the time, which means that there is less noise, and thanks to the shock absorber, it is more convenient for the fisherman to fish.

If you additionally throw a few balls of bait at the fishing point, this will increase the number of bites, and hence the size of the catch.

Advantages of donkey gum:

  • fishing is carried out at a constant distance;
  • you do not need to transfer the tackle manually or with a rod all the time;
  • a large number of hooks increases the chances of a bite;
  • it is convenient to catch at night even with the most active biting.

Disadvantages of a donkey with a rubber shock absorber:

  • ineffective when fishing on the current;
  • the range of delivery of equipment is limited by the extensibility of the elastic band;
  • it is inconvenient to play trophy fish.

That is, a rubber band is used when catching small fish at a short distance, and in reservoirs where there is no current, or it is weak.

"Crucian killers" or carp

Carp killer donks are equipped with two or three small springs and 3-4 soft braided line leaders, although, in general, they are similar to standard spring donks. The “killers” are caught with a rod with a large dough and a powerful reel, since the tackle is heavy, and it is better to cast it far, so the probability of biting the fish increases.

The equipment consists of:

  • a piece of fishing line, at the end of which a sinker;
  • leashes are tied above the sinker;
  • there are springs between the leashes, and their travel along the fishing line is limited with the help of float stoppers or mounting beads.

The installation is tied to the base loop in the loop and thrown to the desired distance. The main condition for the catchability of tackle is a properly prepared sticky bait, which is hammered into the springs.

It is the smell of the bait that attracts crucian or other fish, it is tempted by a treat and stumbles upon a hook with a floating nozzle. The reason why the “carp killer” donka is so catchy is that the fish are offered not one, but two or three springs with bait, and they will definitely find a hook.

Despite the fact that the springs used are small, increasing their number will significantly increase the weight of the tackle, which will become even rougher. This will not give any visible advantages, but fishing will be much more inconvenient, and very powerful rods will be needed even for casting over a short distance.

Advantages of donkey "crucian killer":

  • high attractiveness for fish;
  • a large number of hooks increases the likelihood of a bite;
  • used on any body of water, even with a strong current, just increase the weight of the load;
  • different fish are caught, including large ones.

Disadvantages:

  • the tackle is rough and gets confused when casting;
  • the large weight of the equipped donkey requires the use of powerful rods;
  • due to the significant weight, such tackle cannot be thrown very far.

"Crucian killers" are used on all types of reservoirs, but they have restrictions on the casting distance, and when playing, hooks on bottom vegetation and snags are possible.

Running donk for the flow

The presence of current in the reservoir complicates the task of the angler and the equipment has to be heavier, which makes it less sensitive. But the problem is solved easier if you use a running donk.

The advantages of this gear are also that they catch not only peaceful fish, but also a predator, both from a boat and from the shore. Who will refuse tackle, catchy in difficult conditions on a strong current? Therefore, it is used by most anglers when catching perch, pike perch, or other fish that live in the bottom layers.

The running donka is not used only in reservoirs with a muddy bottom, and where there is dense benthic vegetation, since the sinker gets stuck during wiring. Another important point due to the fact that when fishing with a running bottom, both passive and active wiring is used, which also increases the chances of attracting fish.

Strictly speaking, during passive fishing, the gear is also wired, but the current is responsible for this, which carries the sinker located at the bottom. But the current must be strong enough for the sinker to move. Active wiring is carried out by the fisherman and in this way he tries to stir up inactive fish hiding in pits or in thickets of grass.

The running donka consists of:

  • spinning rod with a test of 40–50 grams and a gatehouse;
  • spinning reel with spool 2000–2500;
  • braided fishing line as a base.

The braid is inextensible and when using it, the weakest bites are clearly visible. The gatehouse is made from a spring with a bright plastic ball at the end.

Installation of the running donk consists of:

  • sliding sinker weighing 50 grams or more;
  • anti-twist;
  • a leash made of monofilament fishing line 20-30 cm long;
  • hook 6-8 numbers in Europe.

To increase the attractiveness of the equipment, a bright foam ball is mounted on the hook, which facilitates the weight of the hook. Some anglers do not use an anti-twist and tie the leader to a swivel located below the sinker.

This installation is simpler, but when using it, the fishing line is overwhelmed, which is better to avoid after all. After the sinker with the leash overcomes the distance of 10–15 meters, the tackle is recast upstream and fishing continues.

Often fishing in the wiring on the bottom turns out to be more effective than fishing on stationary equipment, especially in strong currents. When purposefully catching a predator, a metal leash and a tee are placed, and a live bait or soft spinning baits are used as a nozzle.

Advantages of a running donkey:

  • used when fishing from a boat and from the shore;
  • catcher tackle in fast current;
  • both a predator and a white fish are caught;
  • simple installation;
  • budget accessories;
  • various baits.

Disadvantages of running donkey:

  • used only on the course;
  • the bottom of the reservoir should be clean and solid, without grass or silt;
  • the fisherman needs to watch the gatehouse all the time;
  • tackle is regularly recast.

Before fishing on a running bottom, you need to “break through” the bottom topography and make sure that there are no underwater obstacles and silt.

Donka "Sputnik"

Satellite fishing refers to passive fishing and involves a long wait for a bite. At the same time, trophy fish are caught on the “satellites” and this is an attractive moment for the fisherman.

The bait for such equipment is pressed sunflower cake or top, sawn in the shape of a parallelepiped. No other baits are used with this tackle, although experiments are not prohibited, and if one of the anglers manages to find a more catchy bait, this is only welcome.

For fishing on the "satellite" you need:

  • telescopic or spinning rod with fast action;
  • inertial or inertial coil;
  • installation "satellite" with a bar of cake.

Mounting the satellite is knitted on the main fishing line, or a piece of thick cord. Fishermen use several different satellite designs, but the most catchy consists of:

  • flat sinker (horseshoe type) with a longitudinal through hole;
  • studs for attaching a leash;
  • a braided leash 3-5 cm long with a hook number 6-8.

The main fishing line or cord is wound into the sinker hole and a thick knot is knitted at the end. If a piece of cord is used, then a loop is knitted at the other end to connect to the main fishing line. A through transverse hole is drilled in the cake cube, with a diameter corresponding to the thickness of the stud.

A knot of cord or fishing line is inserted into the hole in the crown and a hairpin is put on it. The cord is pulled up and the hairpin takes the correct position when only its head remains above the crown. A leash is tied to the head, and a foam ball is placed on the hook. The tackle is ready for work and it is thrown into the fishing point.

At the bottom of the reservoir, the Makukha gets wet and attracts fish with its smell, as well as with small dusty particles. The styrofoam ball on the hook acts as an irritant and the fish peck at it. Since the top is soaked for a long time, after casting the tackle, the rod is installed on a stand with a mechanical or electronic signaling device.

A well-compressed top is washed out from an hour to several hours, and during this time a large fish approaches it. Since there is no noise from the impact of the load on the water during recasts, as well as when baiting, trophy fish come up to the “satellite” and peck. Although this happens less often than when catching small crucian carp or bream, but the size of the trophies compensates for the long wait for a bite.

To increase the catchability of the “satellite”, anglers put several hooks and this is already unsportsmanlike tackle. However, there is no complete certainty that a large number of hooks affects the intensity of biting, and large fish are more likely to be frightened of this.

Advantages of the donkey "satellite":

  • big fish are caught;
  • casts are made over a long distance;
  • tackle is easy to manufacture;
  • component costs are minimal;
  • assembly takes a little time.

Donkey Disadvantages:

  • passive fishing and a long wait for a bite;
  • limited choice of nozzles;
  • the need to use electronic alarms.

Carousel or return donk

The donka carousel got its name because it really looks like a children's carousel and is also very similar to a tackle with a rubber shock absorber. True, there is no elastic in the design of the return donkey, but the principle of operation is similar.

Donka carousel consists of:

  • sinker with a ring with a diameter of 4–5 cm;
  • a piece of fishing line 100–150 meters in diameter 0.35-0.40;
  • a dozen leashes on a monofilament fishing line with a diameter of 0.2-0.25 mm;
  • two metal pegs 20-30 cm high.

Metal pegs act as rollers along which the fishing line will slide when the equipment is pulled out or launched into the pond. Anglers make grooves on the pegs so that the line does not slip when moving.

The weight of the load depends on the strength of the current, because after the delivery or casting of tackle it should not be washed away by a stream of water. It is better to deliver cargo from a boat, in this case it is possible to feed the place of fishing pointwise. Casting from the hand is inaccurate and the tackle gets confused, but in the absence of a watercraft, you don’t have to choose and the fishing line folds in half, and with a margin so that it is not dragged into the water under the weight of the load.

After the cargo is brought in, the fishing line is taken ashore and tied up so that a large loop is obtained. The fishing line connection node is located in the area of the peg, this simplifies orientation when pulling the equipment into the water. On the shore, the pegs are located at a distance of 5–7 meters from each other, so that a triangle is formed, the upper corner of which is the load, and the lower pegs.

Leashes with hooks equipped with nozzles are tied to the fishing line and the tackle is pulled into the water, and the distance is measured manually. Stretching the fishing line along the pegs, the fisherman measures the fishing distance and further tightens the tackle at the same distance from the shore. A mechanical signaling device such as a bell is placed on the fishing line and when a fish bites, it notifies the angler.

If the fish is hooked, the angler pulls the tackle along the pegs like on a carousel and takes the fish. Next, put on hooks fresh bait and, pulling up the fishing line, they are sent back to the reservoir. The return donk is convenient to use and allows you to fish in the same place.

The tension of the fishing line occurs due to the force of the current, and even if it is small, the tackle is always in working order. At the end of fishing, the weight is pulled out of the water and used repeatedly in the following sessions.

Advantages of the return donkey "carousel":

  • tackle does not need to be recast every time;
  • fishing takes place in the same baited place;
  • manufacturing costs are minimal;
  • any, even the most “gentle” nozzles are used with a donkey;
  • a large number of hooks increases the chances of a bite.

Disadvantages of the "carousel":

  • difficulties in the delivery of goods;
  • when unwinding the fishing line, skill is needed so that it does not jump off the pegs;
  • it is important not to miss a bite so that the donka remains in working position.

The returnable donk is also used in reservoirs with stagnant water, but it is more convenient to use it in the course and the efficiency of the gear is higher.

It is important to tie the line in a secure knot to prevent breaks when reeling in and pulling the rig into the water. The undoubted advantage of the tackle is the ability to use any nozzles, and they will be delivered to the point of fishing undamaged, as is the case with hand or rod casting.

Donka feeder

Feeder, or English donka, has become very popular with our anglers in the last 5–7 years, and this is due to the ease of use of tackle on any type of water.

A lot of feeder rigs have been invented, and for every conditions, and when fishing on a muddy bottom and stones, in grass and sand, the most catchy option is chosen. Feeder theme deserves more detailed description and several on our site are dedicated to her.

Side donka with a ring

When fishing from a boat, a donk with a ring is considered the most effective, on which almost any fish is caught. The advantages of this donkey are that the baited hooks are carried downstream and are constantly in the “stream” of bait washed out of the feeder.

Structurally, tackle consists of:

  • the main cord on which the feeder is fixed;
  • a ring tied to a thick fishing line and moving along the cord;
  • leashes with hooks;
  • feeders.

Fishing from a boat on a donk with a ring is especially effective on a river with a medium or fast current, regardless of the size of the reservoir or depth. Although it is believed that it is at great depths that such tackle works best. At the beginning of fishing, a convenient place is chosen and the boat is put on a “strict” anchor so that it does not move with the flow.

The feeder is made from an ordinary tin can, or a paint can, and holes are drilled in it to wash out the bait. The feeder-bank is filled with bait, tied to a cord and lowered into the water, and the other end of the cord is attached to the boat. Before attaching the cord, a lead ring with a tied fishing line and leashes is put on it.

Holes are made in the ring for attaching fishing line and leashes. Holding the free end of the fishing line in his hands, the angler has the opportunity to raise the ring to the boat, or lower it to the feeder. When a fish bites into the hand, blows are felt on the fishing line and no additional signaling devices are used.

Nozzles are baited on the hooks - a worm, maggot, dough and tackle are lowered to the feeder.

If there are no bites for a long time, the fisherman moves by boat to another place, upstream or downstream, lowers the feeder into the water and continues fishing in the hope of success. True, periods of no bite when fishing with a ring are infrequent, because the bait washed out of the feeder creates a cloudy cloud that attracts fish, and it finds baits on the hook.

Benefits of a donkey with a ring:

  • hooks with nozzles all the time fall into the same place next to the bait, which significantly increases the chances of a good bite;
  • the tackle is simple and knits quickly;
  • fishing costs are minimal, and catches are almost always pleasing with abundance and variety.

Tackle Disadvantages:

  • for fishing you need a boat and a pond with a current;
  • rarely comes across really trophy fish;
  • it is inconvenient to fish out large fish;
  • It happens that the leashes are confused and this scares away the fish.

How to improve a donkey ring

The ring is also caught using a rod, on which a guard is installed to register bites. For this, short telescopic rods are used, 210 cm long, equipped with a reel with a supply of fishing line.

If fishing is carried out at a depth less than the length of the rod, then you can do without a reel, but most often fishermen choose deep places for fishing on the ring, where more fish and less noise is heard. The fishing line is selected transparent or the color of the water, with a diameter of 0.35-0.40 mm, so that it can withstand a decent weight.

The length of leashes on the bottom with a ring varies from 20 to 100 cm, it all depends on the strength of the current and the activity of the fish. If the bite disappears, it makes sense to lengthen the leashes, otherwise short leashes are placed, which are easier to handle. The size of the hooks depends on the size of the baits used, but the smaller they are, the more likely it is to bite.

The ring itself is an important part of the rig, and anglers are constantly improving its design. The ring is not necessarily a round piece of lead, it can also be extended with a spring, similar to a safety pin.

There are other types of rings, and not all of them are made of lead. The main thing is that with a removable ring it is easier to collect equipment, and in the process of playing a large trophy, it slips off the cord, and gatherings are prevented.

Separately, it must be said about the design and weight of the feeder, since the ease of use of gear depends on them. The feeder should be strictly under the boat and stand upright. A strong current will carry away a light feeder, and all the advantages of a donkey with a ring are leveled. Therefore, feeders are made with a flat and weighted bottom, so that they are convenient both in transportation and when catching fish.

The cord must be attached to the bottom of the feeder, stretched through the entire body, only in this case it is possible to save it vertical position after being thrown into the water. The number, location and diameter of the holes in the feeder depend on the strength of the current and the consistency of the bait. Some anglers make several feeders for different conditions and it is easier for them to take care of their own comfort.

If the bait erodes quickly, this creates inconvenience, as you will have to constantly add a new mixture. But the slow washing out of the bait negatively affects the bite, so choosing the right consistency and making the right holes is also very important.

You should not think that a donka with a ring is a tackle only for peaceful fish, because when small fish begin to actively absorb bait, pike and pike perch appear nearby. By placing a bigger hook and live bait, it is possible to catch predatory fish, even trophy ones.

Donka with a ring is not in vain considered perhaps the most catchy tackle used when fishing from a boat, although anglers are constantly modifying and improving its design.

Winter donka

Bottom tackle is caught not only in the warm season, but also in winter, in a hole or, if possible, in clean water. Fishing with a winter bottom hole in the hole is effective in the current, when the nozzle on the hook “plays” and attracts fish.

Due to the fact that long-range casting is not needed when fishing from a hole, small winter rods with a nod are used in the design of the donkey. Feeders are used to deliver bait, and a hook with a nozzle is located nearby.

Benefits of winter bottom gear:

  • You can fish both on the current and on still water;
  • bait "dusts" next to the hook, attracting fish and provoking a bite;
  • Various baits and baits are used.
  • The fish is self-securing and there is no need to constantly monitor the rod.

Disadvantages of a winter donkey:

  • difficulty in fighting large fish;
  • the need to constantly clean the hole from ice;
  • freezing of the main fishing line or cord.

Winter donka is a popular tackle and you can also read about it on our website.

Donka rightfully occupies a leading position, both in amateur and in sports fishing. After all, the same carp fishers use bottom rig options and catch trophy fish on them. But even an ordinary amateur fisherman, using our recommendations, can easily make a catchy bottom and always return from fishing with a good catch.
