When the crucian pecks in May. What to do when crucian does not bite - instructions and recommendations. Ways to catch carp on a float rod

Often in conversations about carp fishing, I hear the following from fishermen I know: there is, they say, a certain reservoir where the darkness is found, and it reaches very decent sizes there, but that’s bad luck - it’s not caught on a bait under any conditions. Only with a net can you get picky fish.

This is stated even by persons who have devoured more than a single dog on crucian carp. Such that they understand both gear, and baits, and crucian habits. On other reservoirs, this fish is bludgeoned with buckets. And on some ill-fated pond - figurines!

Such statements only amuse me, because I know that if crucian carp lives in a pond, it means it feeds, and therefore it can be on the hook, despite all its capriciousness and fastidiousness. You just need to figure it out first (and - preferably without a bottle), but what does he - fat-bellied - need?

Why doesn't the crucian peck? As it turned out, a lot of various factors influence its bite. And in three words to express the answer to the above question does not work at all. In this connection, I had to draw up this article, where I tried to list everything that can “beat off” the crucian’s appetite. Or vice versa - briefly excite him.

If crucian doesn't peck...

Suppose you come across a body of water in which - this is known for sure - there is crucian carp. But all your attempts to catch it unconditionally ended in favor of the fish. You have tried every possible bait and bait, but it did not help at all. You have often observed how the fish walks along the shore and “shakes” the stems of water plants, accompanying all this with a savory smack that excites the soul. But they never fished at least one seedy crucian.

So what does he, the infection, still need?

Carp needs special tackle

First of all, you should check your main fishing gear. Joking aside, but often it is the rough-tuned tackle, which is not able to signal a cautious bite, that is the reason why the crucian “does not peck”.

Tackle should be thin and sensitive. Such - so that the slightest "separation" of the bait from the bottom is immediately transferred to the float, and the fisherman can clearly see it from the shore.

O correct setting carp tackle we have already written on the pages of our resource. I recommend looking at the following articles:

  • "" - first of all, in order to at least roughly imagine what is happening under water at the moment of a crucian bite;
  • "" - what should be the exemplary float tackle for carp fishing;
  • "" - I also advise you to "smoke" this article at your leisure;

As for such gear as a donk or feeder (which is essentially the same nonsense) - in their case, the catchability is affected not so much by sensitivity as by the correctly selected nozzle and bait. We will return to them later, and now is the time to consider other factors that negatively affect the bite of crucian carp.

The fisherman came at the wrong time

The banal “was in the wrong place at the wrong time” can also be the reason why our object of fishing does not bite on a particular reservoir.

Wrong time of day

There are ponds in which crucian feed around the clock. Usually, the food base on them is not as rich as the fish “would like”, which is why it spends the lion's share of its time in search of food. However, in most crucian ponds with food, everything is in order. The fish there naturally eats off, and therefore eats strictly according to the schedule. Usually this schedule is "timed" for the morning and evening hours, respectively - before dawn and after sunset. But it also happens that the fish feeds only at night - only in the dark. And often this very circumstance becomes the reason for the "inclusion" of the pond in the "registry" of reservoirs, where there is crucian carp, but "does not bite".

For example, I know of two such lakes. In the daytime, you will not wait there for even the most sluggish "poke". But as soon as it gets dark, the fish begins to eat. This is clearly seen in those splashes and "smacks" that come from the reservoir.

How can one explain such a purely nocturnal activity of fish? I have only one guess about this. In both "night crucians", in addition to our object of catching, there is also an unmeasured amount of pike. I believe that it was she who forced the crucian to become a convinced night owl. During the day, a clumsy fat man becomes an easy prey for a toothy predator - that's why he prefers to sit quietly somewhere in dense algae at this time. At night, the pike is almost not active - crucian carp come out of their shelters and work up fat.

For I used a regular fishing rod with a goose float, but on upper part the latter was pulled by two small rings of long-playing fluorescent cambric - one at the very top, the second - approximately in the area of \u200b\u200bthe "waterline". The main thing is that they both stick out above the water. A powerful flashlight "charged" the rings. By the way the “picture” was changing, consisting of luminous cambric and their reflections, the moment of bite was clearly visible.

Wrong season

Shallow stagnant reservoirs warm up very well in summer. They not only quickly overgrow, but also begin to "bloom" early. Their water is saturated with phyto- and zooplankton, which, dying and decomposing, absorbs a large amount of oxygen, worsening its already unfavorable regime. In such lakes, crucian carp sits at the bottom all summer - buried in silt. And it is active only in spring and autumn, less often in winter.

Alas, but the only way fish it out here - wait for a better time.

Wrong weather

Unfavorable atmospheric conditions are another thing. They can affect not only a well-fed crucian, but also a hungry one, forcing the fish to reduce their activity to a minimum for some time. Let's consider each of them in more detail.

1. Heat

Her crucian does not like, and therefore is extremely inactive at this time. In summer, it even sometimes happens like this: during the day, the water in the pond heats up very much - so much so that crucian carp have to “cancel” the evening bite. And he pecks only in the morning - after the pond has cooled slightly during the night.

For the same reason, any slight cooling has a positive effect on the bite of crucian carp in the summer - up to the fact that it "stretches" for the whole day. Especially in cloudy weather.

What relation can heat have to specific bodies of water? Yes, the most direct thing. If the reservoir is shallow and warms up well - crucian carp, whatever one may say - will have to arrange long breaks in feeding. Or even go into hibernation.

2. Wind

The wind is unlikely to affect the bite of crucian carp. However, he can raise a wave on the pond, because of which it will become difficult to fish on the float tackle. Or - "drive" the fish to the opposite shore - to the one towards which the waves go. In this situation, fishing on the windward coast will be noticeably more successful than on the leeward one.

However, in some moments, everything happens exactly the opposite. Carp gather near the leeward shore. This usually happens when the reservoir "blooms". To the windward shore, the wind knocks down all the green suspension, which - as mentioned above - reduces the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water, therefore crucian carp tries to avoid such places.

3. Atmospheric pressure

Some fishermen note that crucian carp bite well at low pressure, worse at medium pressure. And at high, its most inactive bite is observed. But here, most likely, it’s not even about the bite, but about where the crucian is in this moment. With increasing pressure, the fish move to deeper places, and therefore - away from the shore.

4. Precipitation

They can both positively affect the bite of crucian carp, and negatively. It all depends on the weather situation.

After a series of hot days, a good rain can sharply activate the fish, because every drop of it falling from the sky carries life-giving oxygen. But prolonged rains raise the water level and make it cloudy, affecting the bite of crucian negatively.

Wrong moon

The natural satellite of our native planet is unlikely to have a particularly strong influence on the biting of crucian carp, however, after analyzing some statistics, it was found that crucian peck on a waning moon better than on an incoming one. And this is quite understandable, because almost all biological cycles are tuned “under the moon” in our biosphere.

It is possible that the presence of the moon in the sky also somehow affects the biting crucian.

Wrong nozzle

Some of the crucian ponds are listed in the “uncool register” for a long time only because the fish in them are finicky, and the key to it simply has not yet been found. That is, the reason why the crucian does not peck is the attachment, which is unusual for him, and this despite the fact that in other reservoirs it can show itself very well for this fish.

Smell and taste

In the most “capricious” version, we are not even dealing with a well-fed, but with an absolutely snickering crucian carp, accustomed to the taste and smell of the food that it usually picks up from the bottom of the reservoir. And what will be slipped to him by a fisherman - he will most likely ignore. How do the most seasoned and experienced crucian fishermen act in this situation?

I don’t think that the first thing they do is start sorting out all possible baits, baits and attractants. This, of course, can help to some extent, but the best thing now is to put something under the crucian's nose that he is used to eating. It can be either a bloodworm, or a red earthworm, or some other aquatic and semi-aquatic invertebrates, preferably taken in the reservoir on which fishing is carried out, or in its vicinity. As a rule, crucian carp (if it is feeding at this moment) instantly responds to the offer, because it smells and tastes no different from its usual food.

At the same time, in some reservoirs, crucian carp get so used to a certain type of food that pecks at a single nozzle(for example - on the same worm). Other options - both plant and animal - are absolutely indifferent to him.

It is probably also worth mentioning baits that smell absolutely nothing, and therefore should not arouse any suspicion in the crucian. But this is already a section not of float fishing, but of non-bait fishing (side nod, or on winter fishing rod from the boat). And the crucian pecks here not on the bait, but on correctly selected vibrations. Nevertheless, it also happens that crucian carp does not respond to an animal or vegetable delicacy offered by a fisherman, but it is perfectly caught on a no-bait.

Attractants for carp

With regards to the selection of baits - this method of making crucian peck is also effective, but you will never guess what exactly today can attract capricious fish. But it is desirable to take with you on fishing trips as many nozzle options as possible. And do not be shy while "playing" with attractants. By the way, it has been noticed that crucian carp can be attracted not only by the smell of linseed oil and strawberries, but also by garlic, as well as kerosene, and even WD-40 lubricant!

Other factors

In addition to the above factors, the bite of crucian carp can also be influenced by composition of the local ichthyofauna. Or rather, the presence of food competitors in it. If there are any, crucian carp will behave noticeably more actively than in those reservoirs where only it lives alone.

If a there are predators in the pond- they force the crucian to "live on the run", that is, to constantly spend energy. To replenish it, the fish need to eat more. This also has a positive effect on the bite. But in reservoirs where there are no predators, crucian carp is “lazy”. And much less active.

Water composition. First of all - the percentage of dissolved oxygen in it. If the reservoir is by no means stagnant, but completely renewed by clean tributaries or springs, this circumstance only has a beneficial effect on the activity of crucian carp. Also, water can be hard or soft, and contain organic impurities - this affects how quickly and in what volumes unicellular algae will develop in it. And therefore - how intensively it "blooms", which again - affects the oxygen regime.

Finally, the activity of crucian carp directly depends on forage base. Above, I have hinted at this more than once, but now I say it bluntly - the poorer it is, the more active the crucian, but, accordingly, the less well-fed it is.

conclusions

As you can see, the capricious behavior of a crucian is by no means his own whim, but a completely understandable phenomenon. And all that is required from the angler in order to bypass this obstacle and “feel” for the approach to the fish is to competently approach the process of fishing with due attention and observation. And so, the only answer to the question “why doesn’t the crucian peck?” Sees the following:

Because the fisherman did not try to catch him!

With the onset of May, anglers get out on summer fishing. I would like to inhale the fresh aroma of greenery after a long winter, sitting with a fishing rod on the shore. A very interesting object of fishing at this time is crucian carp. Its fishing in the spring has many of its secrets and features. How to catch crucian carp in the spring will be discussed below.

In fact, the success of catching crucian carp in the spring, especially in May, depends on many reasons. During this period, the mood of this fish is very changeable! And the main reason for this is temperature. If May turned out to be relatively cold, then crucian carp may not peck at all. The fact is that in this case he does not have time to spawn. Or spawning takes place directly at the time when the angler goes fishing. In this case, the crucian is passionate about his work and does not pay any attention to the bait.

More successful catching this fat man will be if April and May are warm. In such a situation, he manages to spawn as early as April. But in May, he actively feeds, restoring his physical form. Of course, in this scenario, it is very easy for an angler to catch a crucian with a float rod or any other tackle!

In addition, the activity of fish varies depending on the decade. This is because the temperature varies greatly throughout the month. Most often, the first decade does not bring significant catches. The water in the reservoir is still warming up, and crucian carp spawn or depart from spawning. The second and third decades of the month are more successful.

When to catch carp in the spring

In general, in spring, this fish feeds with the same intensity throughout the daylight hours, since the temperature does not change so much during the day. But it is in May that one should begin to adhere to the traditional rules fishing. The most active biting of crucian carp in May falls on the morning and evening dawn. At noon, however, it usually manifests itself worse.

You can try to catch crucian at night. Perhaps bites will not be as frequent as during daylight hours. But it is at night that the probability of catching a real trophy is greatest. If a night fishing conducted on float rod, then you should use the so-called firefly. Such a signaling device is attached to the float antenna and after that the angler can easily register a bite even in absolute darkness.

Features of catching crucian on a bait

The success of catching carp in May depends on properly assembled gear. For fishing, you can take a length of 3 to 6 meters. The choice of length depends on the parameters of the reservoir on which you are going to fish. The larger the pond and the less vegetation on the shore, the longer the rod should be and vice versa.

Monofilament fishing line is suitable, with a diameter of 0.12 to 0.16 mm. Such a fishing line will not arouse suspicion among cautious fish. In addition, in May, crucian carp has not yet fully regained strength after spawning, and therefore this relatively thin fishing line will allow you to easily retrieve even very big fish. Do not forget about the landing net, it will serve the angler excellently!

If fishing is to be in a shallow pond with gentle banks, if perspective points are at some distance from the angler, it is better to use tackle for long-range casting. A match rod or Bolognese is well suited for this purpose. In case of application sliding float the throw is very far. And the amount of overlap is not limited to the length of the rod. After all, a miniature stopper easily passes into the rings of the rod and does not interfere with casting.

Where and when to catch crucian carp in the spring with a float rod

In the spring, the fish keeps close to the grass

Above, we have already talked about general principles timing of fishing in the spring. It is best to fish in the morning and evening hours. Although a good bite in the spring continues even during the day. Much more significant is the question of choosing a place to catch this bumpkin.

In the event that fishing takes place in large bodies of water, crucian carp should be looked for in those areas that are absolutely different from the rest of the water area. What are we talking about here? First of all, the angler must pay his attention to a variety of shallow bays. This is where it rushes to. And after spawning, he rarely leaves such areas, just rolls a little deeper.

You can look for crucian carp in the spring in the bays, where the depth varies from 1 to 2.5 meters. These areas are the first to warm up. sunlight. Of course, they are the most attractive for crucian. If there are no bays as such in the reservoir, one should be more interested in various coastal ridges. To those places where there is a sharp drop from a shallow area to a great depth. In such areas, crucian carp keeps either on the upper side of the slope or on the lower side. Moreover, in deeper places, larger individuals usually keep.

If the reservoir has tributaries, you need to pay attention to the places where they flow. Running water is abundantly saturated with oxygen. This means that crucian carp will willingly stay in such a site. Besides, cold water, which enters the reservoir, activates the vital activity of fish. Because of what he starts to eat more.
The bottom in the place of fishing should be muddy or at least sandy. It is in such areas that the crucian is kept! In addition, the bottom at the place of fishing should be distinguished by the presence of aquatic vegetation. Here the fish finds both shelter and write.

Groundbait and bait for carp fishing

The bait consists of several components, the balls must be of such viscosity that they immediately crumble into small fractions in water.

In the spring, both plant and animal baits can be used for fishing. If we talk about baits of animal origin, then they must be fresh. You can use worms, bloodworms, maggots, caddisflies. Worm, maggot and are classic. Therefore, it is better not to reinvent the wheel, giving preference to proven baits.

If we talk about nozzles of plant origin, then we should remember the usual bread crumb, a ball of dough, canned corn, a piece of undercooked potato. All this is also capable of provoking crucian carp to bite. Especially if the nozzle is processed.

Bait can greatly increase the angler's chances of success. And you should not go to a fishing store and lay out a tidy sum for ready-made bait. Bait for catching spring carp can be made independently. The basis of such bait can be made cookies and breadcrumbs. By adding a variety of components to a similar base, you can achieve an amazing effect! Do not forget that the nozzle itself should also be part of the bait, albeit in a small amount. This is necessary in order for the crucian to treat the bait without suspicion.

fishing technique

After choosing a promising site, you should make a request to a specific point. If the weather is calm, then the hook with the nozzle can be put on the bottom, lowering the sinker with it. In this case, the float should lie slightly on its side. In this position, it is easiest to register a bite. If there is a slight wind, ensure that the load is on the bottom and the float is in vertical position. In this case, the impact of wind and waves on it will be minimal. After the tackle is abandoned, you can feed the place of fishing.

If the wind is strong enough, or there is a current in the place of fishing, you can go the other way and start catching the line. In this case, the weight rises a few centimeters from the bottom. The equipment begins to move slowly across the water area. The bait is dragged along the bottom, attracting crucian carp. He is unlikely to be able to let such a seductive prey pass by.

Catching this common fish with a float rod in the spring is not so difficult! It is enough to have a balanced tackle and have minimal knowledge. Most likely, you can easily catch him if you only want to!

Everyone should catch a crucian at least once in their life. However, it is not so easy if you act randomly. Let's try to understand the nuances of catching crucian carp in the spring with a float rod. Let's figure out what kind of fishing rod is needed for fishing for crucian carp in May, what gear will be needed, what bait to use for a stable bite of crucian carp, whether bait is needed for catching crucian carp on a float rod.

When to catch carp with a float rod

The primary information a fisherman needs is when catching crucian carp begins in the spring, when you can be sure that the crucian carp is ready to bite on the proposed bait. Fishing for crucian carp in the spring on a float rod begins in late April - early May. Early spring awakens the crucian faster, and warm water stimulates it to search for food, therefore, the bite of the crucian becomes more intense and you can catch it already in April. Well, if the spring started late and the snow stood still for most of March, then the crucian carp will begin to peck later, closer to May or even already in May.

Where to catch crucian carp in May on a float rod

Another one important information, which you need to know when preparing for catching carp - where to catch crucian carp in May - the reservoir itself plays an important role:

  • if this is a large lake with great depths, then even in early spring the water in such a lake will not warm up very soon, therefore, carp fishing is postponed until optimal warming up;
  • in small ponds, where the water rarely exceeds 3 meters, it warms up quickly enough, then catching crucian carp will start earlier in the spring.

The next question is where to catch crucian on a float rod in the selected reservoir:

  • you need to look for crucian carp in May on a pond, first of all, near islets of reeds, or other aquatic vegetation. Fishing for crucian carp in May with a float rod will be optimal at a fairly shallow depth, from 0.5 to 1.5 meters. Here the water is warmer, and it is easier to find crucian carp than to profit.

There is one more feature to be aware of. fishing for crucian carp in May on a float rod:

  • fishing for crucian carp in May means that you need to constantly look for it in the reservoir - flocks of crucian carp in the spring are always on the move, and if today crucian pecks well in one place, it’s not a fact that he will peck here tomorrow. In contrast to catching crucian carp in the summer, when it always bites steadily in proven or well-fed places.

Float rod, tackle, bait and bait for carp fishing in May

After the angler has decided on the place where he will fish, the actual fishing of crucian carp on a float rod begins.

  • Fishing rod for carp in May it can be a flywheel without a reel 5 - 7 meters long, or with a reel, the length of the rod in this case may be less.
  • Float for catching crucian carp in May on a float rod choose a small size, and preferably an oblong shape. You will have to catch crucian from the bottom, so that the bait and the sinker are at the very bottom. But the depth must be adjusted so that both the sinker was at the bottom, and the float was in working condition, and showed every bite of the crucian.
  • Baits for catching crucian carp in May on a float rod can be very different. And fishing you need to take several of their species. But the most catchy at this time of the year is the usual muckworm, maggot, dough (talker), and pearl barley. On one of these baits, crucian carp will definitely peck. The intensity of bites of crucian carp can be different, but basically, if a flock of crucian carp approached, bites will occur quite confidently.
  • Top dressing for catching crucian carp in May on a float rod it is quite acceptable subject to one condition - do not use intense attractants. Crucian carp is always willing to bait, the main thing is not to overdo it with a variety of flavors, otherwise the result of fishing can be deplorable. So for half a kilogram of the mixture (it can be either a store-bought bait or cooked on your own), add 5-8 drops of an aromatic liquid (attractant), with the smell of anise, vanilla (not vanillin), hemp, corn. Or more exotic ones, such as tutti frutti, caramel, chocolate.

Immediately it is worth making a few reservations. The calendar, according to which crucian carp lives in each reservoir, has a very conditional connection with the Gregorian calendar, according to which we, people, live.

Spring for this fish begins when the average temperature in the reservoir will exceed 10 degrees. Spawning when the water temperature exceeds 15 degrees. After spawning comes crucian summer. But the temperature in different water bodies varies from different speed. Therefore, in small, shallow reservoirs, crucian carp can spawn as early as early May, in deep quarries at this time it can only move away from hibernation.

Much in the behavior of this fish is dictated by weather conditions, but in most reservoirs May is the month when crucian spawns.

Spawning is a turning point in the behavior of crucian carp. Up to this point, crucian carp is hungry and the basis of its diet is animal products rich in animal protein. Before spawning, crucian carp move around the reservoir in large flocks, often appear in shallow water, go out into open spaces.

After spawning, crucian carp “rests” for about a week, and then small and medium crucian change their taste preferences. This fish is starting to move around the border more often open water and aquatic vegetation in ponds. The main food of this representative of the carp family is vegetable products.

Large carp is more conservative. This fish and after spawning moves through the reservoir alone or in pairs. He practically does not change his taste preferences in May.

Ways to catch carp in May

  1. Float (flywheel, Bologna, match);
  2. Bottom (feeder, picker, classic);

float

Before spawning, float equipment is considered more effective, because at this time crucian carp often come to the shore. A fly rod during this period is the best tackle for catching crucian carp.

At the heart of the tackle is a fly rod, the length of which must be selected based on the characteristics of the reservoir and fishing conditions. Equipment - "deaf". The length of the entire rig should either be equal to or slightly longer than the length of the rod. Equipment goes:

  1. Connector or shock absorber, which is used to connect the main fishing line and the rod, as well as to dampen the jerks of notched fish (an alternative to it can be a reel with fishing line and rings through which the fishing line is threaded);
  2. main line. For catching May carp, you can use the main fishing line made of nylon monofilament with a cross section in the range from 0.15 mm to 0.20 mm. You will have to select the main fishing line taking into account the color and turbidity of the water in the reservoir. On the course, the thickness of the fishing line does not really matter. On reservoirs without a current, you need to choose a thinner fishing line;
  3. Float. The May crucian is careful, because the fly float should be as light as possible, but clearly visible.
  4. Sinker and shepherd. The shape of the sinker and the shed does not matter in catching crucian carp. It is necessary to load the float in such a way that its body is completely under water.
  5. Leash. This tooling element can be made of nylon or fluorocarbon monofilament. The cross section of the leader can be in the range from 0.10 to 0.14 mm, depending on the properties of the water and the size of the intended prey. The length must be selected based on the strength of the current. On water bodies with a flow, leashes longer than 30 cm are used in fly gear. On calm water, short leashes up to 20 cm long can be used.
  6. Hooks. The color and size of the hook must match the size and color of the bait (bait). Therefore, in gear for catching crucian carp, both small hooks for bloodworms, grain, larvae (No. 14 or No. 12 according to the European classification) and larger hooks for corn, lupine or red worm (No. 8 according to the European classification) are used.

other methods float fishing(match, plug and Bologna fishing) are used less often for catching crucian carp in May. They are designed for long distance fishing. These methods are effective in the second half of May, when the fish returns to their summer lifestyle, visiting pits, "tables" and other relief folds at the bottom of the reservoir in search of food.

The requirements for equipment in pole fishing are very similar to those for fly rod. In match and Bologna fishing, the main fishing line of a larger section, large floats that are clearly visible at a distance, are used. The requirements for leashes and hooks remain the same.

Donny

In bottom fishing, the requirements for equipment for catching crucian carp are less stringent:

  1. The main fishing line (braid or nylon monofilament) can have a cross section from 0.18 mm to 0.25 mm.
  2. Leads (fluorocarbon or monofilament) can be used with a cross section of up to 0.15 mm. The length of the leashes is selected based on the strength of the current in the pond, but not more than 70 cm.
  3. Hooks must match the size and color of the bait used during fishing.

The listed requirements are valid in relation to feeder and picker fishing. In the classic donk, cork fishing (), shorter leashes are used.

A more sporty bottom tackle is a feeder. You can check out the details.

Lures

In the period before spawning, it is better to use animal origin. For catching carp before the onset of heat best bait the larva of the pusher mosquito is considered to be a bloodworm. This bait is universal and is used both in float and bottom fishing. The bloodworm is planted in a "bundle". It is used both in current and in calm water.

Other popular baits for catching crucian carp in May:

  1. red worm. Before spawning, small worms are used, they are put on a hook one by one with a “stocking”. This bait can be used with the landing of one maggot. Large crucian worm loves. Before casting, you can drop garlic juice on the worm. This action attracts crucian to the bait even after spawning.
  2. Maggot. You can put several fly larvae on the hook. Sandwich "maggot + bloodworm" is considered an ideal spring bait for catching crucian carp.
  3. Shitik(caddisfly larva) - bait that can be found on sandbars is most often used when fishing on rivers. It is planted with a "stocking"
  4. Leech. A small bait that can be found under almost any river stone is effective in catching crucian carp in rivers. It is planted in several pieces in a bunch or one leech
  5. Caterpillar. This bait can be collected on tree leaves. An excellent bait for catching crucian carp in the upper layers of the water. It is planted with a ring or stocking.

nozzles

Before spawning, most baits (baits of plant origin) "work" weakly. After spawning, crucian carp are happy to eat baits of plant origin.

The most popular of them are:

  1. Dough. This lure has many faces. The number of recipes is hard to even count. Mastyrka, protein dough, corn, wheat, semolina, rye, "talker". Each fisherman is able to continue this list himself. The bait is effective for catching May carp both at depth and at half-water. It is mounted in such a way that the sting of the hook is closed.
  2. Pearl barley. One of the most effective baits for catching fish in late spring and summer. It can be boiled or steamed. In both forms, crucian carp treats her with respect. Before casting, barley can be dipped in flavoring or dipped in breadcrumbs. Put several pieces in such a way as to completely hide the hook.
  3. Canned corn. This is a nozzle for carp, but large crucian picks it up with pleasure. The bait does not need additional preparation if it is bought in a fishing store. Ordinary corn, which is used to make salads, can be given a pleasant smell for crucian carp. It is enough to put it in sunflower or hemp oil at night. One or more pieces are mounted in such a way that the sting of the hook is hidden.
  4. bread crumb. A bait that is used to catch any crucian. This fish loves fresh rye bread, to which, depending on the reservoir, boiled potatoes, processed cheese or liquid flavors are added. (If the reservoir is located near the villages, you can add a little alcohol to the crumb: beer or moonshine). The crumb is placed on the hook in such a way as to cover the sting.
  5. Boyle. This bait is for bottom fishing of large crucian carp on a hair rig. Boyle for crucian carp has smaller dimensions compared to the classic carp. In carp fishing, both “fried” home-made boilies and “dried”, purchased or home-made boilies are used. Small carp (and other small fish) are not able to swallow this nozzle. Hair equipment equipped with a boilie can be mounted on a float, bottom and feeder rod. The three most "catchy" flavors for large crucian carp include:
    • - chocolate;
    • - Strawberry;
    • - honey:

The feeder is considered the most effective tackle for catching crucian carp on boilies.

How to increase the catch of fish?

For 7 years of active passion for fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Biting activator. This pheromone additive lures fish the most in cold and warm water. .
  2. Raise gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for the particular type of tackle.
  3. Lures based pheromones.

Lure

Before spawning, it is possible to use bait in catching crucian carp if it consists of small fractions. Just don't put too much food on the bottom. There is a risk of overfeeding crucian carp, which consume food in small quantities before spawning.

After spawning, crucian bait gives top scores. A bait mixture based on purchased bait for fishing in May should contain:

  1. Base (a purchased mixture labeled as “Universal” or “Ling-Karas” is suitable;
  2. Filler (steamed millet has proven its effectiveness)
  3. Baking powder (breadcrumbs or crushed cookies with various flavors, sunflower cake);
  4. Flavoring agent (strawberries, garlic, crushed bloodworms and others, depending on crucian preferences in a particular reservoir).
  5. The bait or bait that the angler will use.

Be sure to include large fractions in the bait (grain, beans, corn or boilies). Crucian is a slow fish. Small fish finds the bait first and if the bait consists only of small fractions, then the crucian carp may not get anything.

Homemade bait can be made on the basis of:

  • rye crackers mixed with boiled potatoes;
  • breadcrumbs mixed with vanilla cookies and yogurt;
  • rye bread mixed with coastal soil.

There are many homemade bait recipes, but each needs to be adapted to the method of fishing and the characteristics of the reservoir.

For example, in silted reservoirs, you can add a mixture of baking soda and citric acid in small quantities (or dried sawdust). This, even if the bait is covered with silt, will create the effect of a “geyser” and thereby attract the attention of large carp.

For fishing with a float, the bait ball should slowly disintegrate at the bottom. Initial bait - 4-5 balls the size of a large mandarin. Then the bait is thrown once (one ball) in 20 minutes if there are no bites or after each bite.

AT feeder fishing Feeding requirements are somewhat different. Lure:

  • should be looser;
  • should be washed out of the feeder for 10 minutes.

This means that the bait should contain more baking powder and ingredients that can create an attractive haze in the water (milk powder, yogurt, flour).

In May fishing for crucian carp, the main thing is not to overfeed the fish. You should not use "bream tactics" when at least 5 kg of bait goes into the water. In baiting crucian carp, you need to show patience and moderation. And then there will be a catch.

The biting of a crucian is difficult to predict. It is difficult to guess the degree of its activity on each specific day on each specific reservoir. Catching carp is a complex equation that has to be solved already on the pond.
